Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Hopefully someone will know about AKL CL.

But FWIW, I made the mistake of going to Ohana for breakfast a few days ago and had the POG juice. I could very well be wrong, but to me it sure didn’t taste like the same POG juice I recall. Tasted more watered down and a slightly different overall flavor. Granted I haven’t had POG juice since pre COVID so mind could be playing tricks on me. I’ll defer to the POG experts for real input though. :-)
When GF RPC switched from POG to the poinciana juice late 2019 they had pog/ their tropical juice upon request . (Gf guests too snooty for the words pog or jungle juice??😂). Anyhow you learned quickly who to ask for it. New cms made it horribly , older cms got it right. Apparently it is a concentrate, Too much water? Not shaken 1st? Yep = sucky pog.

Totally agree! I had someone make it with too little water one time and it was POG sludge, but it worked out ok that way because you just needed to add more champagne :flower1: !

I know we won’t know for a couple more weeks what the CR CL will be like once it reopens, but. An anyone comment on prior experience there? How’s the food? What are some of the breakfast & evening offerings?
Thanks

I’m sure you’ll get some great/honest opinions here, but in addition, one of my favorite things to do is look up YouTube videos - that way you can see everything each lounge has to offer. Enjoy!

I think the breakfasts are all close.

Midday there are only snacks but they were far better with grabbing adult beverages,

Evening they had a soup plus hot appetizers and usual crudités , cheese etc.

The alcohol is better , even better than GF. I like Meiome Pinot Noir. It’s $26 here in NY. They have that as one of their wines. They had better cordials.

Hands down I felt more welcome. I go to poly and gf more due mainly to availability with discounts but if I can get CR I do.

Thanks. I liked the breakfast at YC, but often felt that the dinner offerings ruined our appetite for ADR’s. We were planning on Chef Mickey and Ohana for dinner, so I was wondering if it was too much. What kind of things did they have in the evenings? With The Wave and CG closed, I wonder where they will get the food from for the lounge?

The YC had a hot item each morning too. Every morning they had oatmeal, but they also had either crepes or quiche, etc.
It doesn’t look CR has that.

Generally speaking CR CL offerings feel less substantial to me than YC CL. That’s not a bad thing, it’s just a difference. CR fits the bill of more light bites, in my opinion - better for apps than a meal. Although I would peg breakfast as roughly similar, but maybe not a carbon copy, the general variations you see along the CLs.

Yeah, I was surprised how substantial many of YC CL evening offerings were. They never had Mickey waffles, but the hot (warm) item at breakfast was nice as well. CR looks a bit more like fancy Hilton or Marriott concierge floor. Tough choices, 😔 😉

I remembered something else from our stay at AKL Club last week - we met Lorenzo, who was very friendly and my wife asked if they had any O'Douls (near beer). he said no, but will get some for you, she said don't worry not a big deal. Next time we came into the lounge, he brought it out for her. Not sure if he went out himself to get it or had it delivered somehow. We thought that was just awesome service. So she made sure to keep drinking them - even took some with us went we went down to eat at Boma, which Lorenzo tried to invite himself along with us (would have been fun).

I hadn’t thought of that! I hope Steakhouse 71 opens soon!

Hard to say with evening appetizers. When they added the soup made my day, I love soup! Some nights I loved everything others not as much. It’s like that for me at all of em. I don’t eat tuna/salmon so those nights night me fav.

Well you can have a little at the lounge and still do adrs. Just because it’s there doesn’t mean you have to eat is all😂

I thought YC had the best dinner offerings, and used large plates for serving. CR had the smallest-portioned items, but a better wine selection. A CR CM told me that they usually like to have one 'better' selection available and that rotates. One weird thing at YC: lounges always have cheese at breakfast but YC had goat cheese every morning. Just odd for a breakfast item.

We typically get a regular room if we plan a lot of dinner ADRs as we wouldn't take advantage of the lounge. It can be a scheduling hassle as well, if you want to be at the parks in the evenings. Breakfast is convenient but not enough of a draw to pay $150-200/night extra.

Conversely, we have asked for Nesquik at CR and been told 'we don't have that anymore'. It's really a ymmv situation at any lounge, at any time, and depends on the CM you talked to at that minute.

We had a similar situation at BWI CL a couple of years ago when we asked for soy milk. They said they only had almond which my son hates, it wasn't a big deal, we declined and I thought nothing else of it. Well 20 minutes later, Sarah (she was actually the chef that morning) brought us a handful of the very vanilla soy milks and said that Mickey had delivered some for my son. That was just so kind of her. It's things like that, that makes putting a price on CL so difficult sometimes. I REALLY hope that WDW doesn't lose that sense of going above and beyond; it's what makes us keep coming back over and over.

We'll be staying AKL CL in November....so excited! For anyone who's been there, can you tell me if Don's back to working there? I think he was set to retire in 2020, but I'm secretly hoping he decided to wait a little longer.

Unfortunately, it was mentioned a couple of pages back that he did indeed retire. I know we will miss him too, we discovered that we were birthday buddies (share the same birthday) and he was always so kind to my family.

Darn! I must've missed that post because I would've definitely commented on that one. He was such a great CM and will definitely be missed.

was your mistake going to Ohana for breakfast or having the POG juice? I just made reservations for our November trip.

Maybe both!? :-)

I don’t like to speak ill of popular places, but we all have opinions I guess. It’s more my personal breakfast preferences - give me some CL hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, and maybe some fruit/yogurt and I’m perfectly happy so I don’t really love the offerings at places like Ohana.

But my kids do, so that works for me! 🤣
