Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Hi folks--am moving this off the main resorts board and reposting here to hopefully get some info on how the CL FPs might work (or not) for this upcoming trip.

We are currently booked at BWI CL standard room for 5 nights going into Columbus Day weekend. We have 5 people in our party. Just found out my sister can join for part of the stay. The deluxe BWI CL rooms sleep 6 but are not available for our dates. I have been checking every day just in case one opens up; if so then that would solve the problem.

Right now Dad will be there nights 1, 2 and 3. Sister will be there nights 3, 4 and 5. So on night 3 we need to get a second room unless a deluxe room that sleeps 6 opens up for the whole trip; if so, I'd just put everyone in there.

I would like to get the CL FPs because we will be there during the Columbus Day weekend and the crowds will be big. My understanding is that a person needs to have 3 CL nights booked to qualify for the CL FPs.

Right now I have Dad on the room reservation for nights 1-5. He will be there for nights 1-3, so I will purchase CL FPs for the Dad plus us 90 days out, but not sister since she doesn't have a hotel reservation yet (but does have an AP). On day 4 I will let the front desk know that sister has arrived and will be moving into our room for nights 4 and 5, and that Dad has left. That gets her onto our reservation for nights 4 and 5, gets Dad off the reservation, and we are under room capacity except for night 3.

So here are (finally!!) the questions:
If I make a club level room reservation for sister for night 3, then she'll only have a 1 night stay on record with Disney (since she won't be added to our room until day 4 once we're there) so she still wouldn't qualify for the 3 day stay for CL FP eligibility. Should I make a 3 day club room reservation for her, buy the CL FPs and then cancel nights 2 and 3? That seems like it could be a problem and maybe we would lose the FPs? Or can I buy FPs for Dad for the entire trip, then switch some of them to sister after Dad leaves? They both have APs for what it's worth.

I called Disney but the CM said they hadn't encountered something like this before and recommended getting 2 club level rooms for 5 nights, but that seems like overkill (and completely blows the budget). Any advice?

It‘s not a great plan as you might have to move rooms but what about booking it as two separate stays? You only need two nights in CL to book the FPs (it’s just for a minimum of three days) so you could have one reservation with dad for nights 1-3 and one with your sister for nights 4-5?

I agree with Iona ; my understanding of the extra FP that they sell is not based on the number of nights in a CL room, but that you must buy them for a minimum of 3 park days worth.

I actually think it’s a 2 night, 3 day minimum. But I’m not sure in this case since you have different guests. Did you speak with DSS about it?
Edited to add: if your dad is in the room nights 1-3 and your sister is joining you for nights 3-5 and you can’t get a deluxe room, why not get her a regular room for only night 3 then stick with your plan of having your dad on the reservation nights 1-3, then your sister for 4-5. Everyone should meet the CL FP requirements and no problems with occupancy issues.

Hi I am staying in CL at AKV w/ dvc points in October, for one night. Will I qualify if I will be staying at other DVC resorts? I will be buying a 4 day ticket, and couldn’t find anywhere on their site indicating you need a minimum stay requirement. Could anyone link me to some info?

If you are talking about the CL fastpasses, I think you have to have two nights booked club level, but I don't know if it's actually printed anywhere per say since they never classified the program as anything but a "trial." It has seemed to have run quite a long time as a trial, though. It may or may not be helpful, but there is a whole thread of information about it https://www.disboards.com/threads/t...purchase-program-planning-discussion.3657573/

As you mentioned, it is a trial program. For very specific questions calling DSS may be helpful. They are great about explaining the CL fastpasses and how to qualify to purchase them.

Thanks all for the input! I called DSS today (they were closed when I called originally and I ended up talking to someone on the main line yesterday). As y'all said, DSS confirmed that you are eligible for CL FP if you are booked for a 3 day, 2 night (consecutive days) stay. Unfortunately, DSS also confirmed that my sister needs to be named on an eligible CL reservation to be able to buy the CL FPs at the 90 day mark. Going to the front desk to add her to the reservation and remove dad during our stay won't allow us to buy the FPs at 90 days for her. DSS noted that since it's still technically a trial program, they would recommend buying sooner (of course) rather than later in case the program is no longer offered in the future.

Mzpalmtree's and Iona's suggestions are what I'm going with. I can change the reservation from 5 nights to nights 1-3 with dad. On night 3, make a standard room rez for sister. Then have another CL reservation (hopefully we can stay in the same room since it's B2B) for nights 4 & 5 with sister on it and dad off of it. That will allow everyone to qualify for CL FPs at the 90 days mark. Potentially a logistic pain but if we have to move to another room then we'll just camp out at the club room and the pool.

Thanks again, y'all are fabulous!

Just an update on my situation-
I emailed DSS and mentioned that I was unable to find another night (currently only staying at a club level AK 1/5 nights) on my 5 night itinerary with club access. As I am a DVC owner and will be staying in a deluxe hotel in the remaining nights, they made an exception to let me take advantage of the extra 3 FP+’s for the entirety of my stay ($50pp, per day).

Hope this helps anyone in similar situations :)

It was very nice that they made a special exception for you. Have a good vacation!

As soon as I upgraded in January I knew we'd squeeze another trip in! And even though we swapped September for August, I'm still keeping my eye on September, lol! You never know...maybe a girls trip?

I think a girls trip is a great idea ::yes::.

Good luck with your August trip, hope everything works out ;).

I'm trying to narrow down our room request for our AKL cl stay while I stalk for the SWGE AP preview! Seems construction has moved to the Zebra trail, what I had originally wanted. Am I correct that all CL rooms face the Arusha Savannah? Looks like construction is currently near the pool area, but facing the Uzima savannah so we wouldn't be affected regardless if all CL rooms face the Arusha savannah. The help here has just been amazing. It's been a long time since we tried a resort we've never stayed in. I'm usually not so clueless!

Arriving at the BWI tonight and looking forward to the incredible lounge staff! WOOT WOOT!!!!!!!!
We will be there in a few days. If you happen to see what beer they have would you mind letting me know? Have a great time!! Edited to say if anyone else knows please chime in. My husband usually goes along with whatever I plan but today asked if I knew what beer they have so I really want to answer his only question since I started planning this year 🤣
