Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Was that credited to your credit card or will it be a room credit upon arrival

I had not yet made my payment in full... I simply received a new reservation confirmation which reflects a revised balance due. I'm guessing they would credit the card if previously paid in full, but I can't speak to that for certain.

I'm interested if this is indeed true. My dates are April 23-28, with the 28th being the check out day, so there wouldn't have been any real interference with our reservation if construction started that day. I went ahead and switched to POR, at a small upcharge, but will be pretty upset to find out I went through all that trouble and expense if construction wasn't even going to start during my booked time. I'm wondering why Disney would be notifying people if there wasn't going to be any interference with their trip? :sad2:

I would be some upset if I were you... but I honestly do NOT trust them at this point. He told me it was generated based on our arrival dates because of reservations going into the May period... I again, told him surely their system could also generate a "I'm sorry you received this letter by mistake"... otherwise, I again do not trust their information. Which is exactly why I wanted an email confirmation of our call and my reservations to be noted of my call if they would not compensate my account

So I just got off the phone with Disney Reservations... my dates are April 20-27... I'm getting, this will not effect my stay. I told them I have no trust in what they are telling me. He told me I have no compensation on those dates. I told him, I want a confirmation email to that effect and my reservations to have this call noted. I was polite but firm and got no "have a magical day"

I know this is my first post, but I wanted to let you know that I managed to get a discounted rate this afternoon when I called Disney Reservations. My dates are April 21-23, standard room. Hopefully you can call back and get the same. I suppose I lucked out with a CM that was willing to do something.

I first spoke to the CM at Disney Reservation and explained to her that I was unhappy about the upcoming construction and that I had chosen CBR under the impression there would be no construction. I had previously called Disney Reservations prior to making the booking and they had assured me the construction would all be done by mid-March. At the time the announced plans for CBR were not announced. I told the CM that I understood I could move to a different resort (at my expense) but that I was not interested in spending any more money. I mentioned that I hoped something could be done for the inconvenience. She said that she did not have the power to do anything but that she could transfer me to guest services to voice my concerns.

I waited on hold for over and hour but eventually reached a great CM. I went over my spiel again and she did mention that the food closures are set to happen after my stay. I said that even so, I am not confident that there wouldn't be other visible refurbishment projects going on in various areas of the resort. She understood my concerns immediately and asked what I would be happy with. I mentioned that I would be happy with moving to another resort at no additional cost, or at the very least receive some form of rate adjustment if I had no other option but to stay at CBR (if no other resort could be accommodated).

She came back to me and said if I would be happy with a King Bed view upgrade and a $50 discount per night on the room rate. I asked if it was possible to forget about the King Bed view upgrade (and stay with my standard view room type) and perhaps get that upgrade price difference as a greater discount per night on the room rate. She said she thought that would be possible and went to go check if it could get authorized.

In the end I did receive a $75 rate discount (plus tax) per night. My nightly stay is now $128 per night including tax (original nightly amount was $213 including tax). At this new price, this really makes me feel better about staying at CBR as I really dislike staying at a resort that has any type of construction or refurbishment going on. In the end, I got a better rate than all the current rates at the value resorts.
I would say keep trying and you might just luck out with a great CM over at guest services that is willing to help.

We finally have a 3 night stay set for March 7-10, before the work starts. I am so glad we did this because I want to stay there it in its "original" state, before DVC, changes. towers. I am sure I will want to see it once done but it is one spot we only ever stayed for 1 night many yrs ago, and all I remember was the long walk and parots o the island.

I plan to take lots of pics and we always enjoy hanging at the resorts. Hoping for good weather!

My wonderful Dreams Unlimited travel agent waited on the phone for over an hour before she could finally speak to a CM but she got us POFQ, pool view for no additional cost from CBR reservation. We are thrilled! POFQ is rarely available for any of the Disney specials so this is a rare treat for us. We are so thankful for our wonderful travel agent and her company that's affiliated with this website . Good luck everyone!

I'm torn on what to do. We check in on Aug 23 so with no food court what do I do, when we would eat breakfast at the resort and also planned a pool day. Not sure if I should call now or just wait to the construction starts.

Fantastic news.

Can anyone tell me if they received the email and have reservations booked this summer? Or is it just May dates that received the email?

We check in August 12th for a 2 week stay on a free dining bounce back. At this point, I'm waiting to see if and when I get an e-mail from Disney. Worse case, we show up at the resort, are very unhappy, and get a free upgrade. It's happened to us before. From mod to the Wilderness Lodge. Would love it if that happened again, LOL.

Update on our situation. It was like pulling teeth but we got moved to POR at no additional cost and I am happy about the outcome. Never stayed at POR hope it is as nice as CBR.

OMG its so confusing...!!! will there be a food court or not? seems everyone has conflicting stories...I tried to get through to Disney..I have up after a 65 minute hold..what to do. My kids love the food court at CBR so this is a major game changer for us. If anyone gets through and finds out please let us know.

Please help, who are you all speaking to and what are you saying? I've phoned Disney reservations several times and told nothing can be done. We are coming 22 April- 6 may- so worried and upset over all this, can anyone help? We are coming from the uk and feel like there is no help for us!! Thank you in advance...

There will be a full service food court setup with seating and A/C, food stations in Jamaica, Aruba and Trinidad South with grab and go items. They only thing that will be non-existant is a Table Service restaurant. The pool bar itself will be down, but there will be a place to get drinks by the pool.

I called the phone number provided in the email notification. I got an immediate answer and then transfer to guest services. I told them that the upcoming CBR renovations were going to negatively impact my vacation and asked what could be done. I was on hold for about 10 minutes topps when she offered me a discount to stay at CBR

Like it's a little harder from the uk!!

Just off the phone with them...they would not give me a discount and said the same thing as Dansdad said...there will be just the same food just no Cabana Bar or shop. So the question for us is..do we move to The Movie resort or take a chance at CBR Pirate room...hmmmm
