Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Okay, I'm sorry to keep pummeling this strand with my newb questions, but this is where the experience is so here goes:

At this point I know when we're going: Many, many moons from now
Where we're staying : CBR due to some fabulous advice
and a plethora of other things from how many days we're going to spend in each park to which restaurants we'd like to eat at to what pins we're going to be trading for!

So I've been reading and researching and having all sorts of discussions with my family. I feel like my trip is SO far away, but I've noticed lots of sigs with countdown clocks for people whose vacations are just as far away as mine. So... when should I book this sucker? I know 2017 rates aren't quite out yet, but does that mean I have to wait until they're released to put some money down and get this package rolling? I shall defer again to the expertise of this community for assistance.

Thanks again for any advice offered!

I feel your pain. After all of the horrible storms here, we may be replacing our roof which means we may have to do a split stay. Value and CBR. I'm dying over here.

I'm sorry about your room and all the other stuff that comes with flooding. A dead furnace was the end of our hoped-for WDW trip last year. The only reason we can go this year is I found a discount, but I could only get CSR for a standard room. Have you ever stayed at a value? We have several times, and we don't mind them.

Thank you! We have never stayed in a value resort. With my husband's epilepsy, it is important for him to have a nice semi-quiet place to sit and unwind at the end of the day. I'm waiting until the very last minute to make the resort decision. Right now, we are booked at the CBR for the entire time. Keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have to pay out the ying yang for the roof repairs. Insurance should pay for the majority but we have to wait and see.

If you have to go with a value, I would book at Pop, and request 4th floor, lake view. That's probably the quietest you'll get at a value!

Hang in there. We've lost our roof twice in tornadoes. All ended well.

Enjoy your stay and take care of the husband.

We're hanging on so far. Adjuster comes on Saturday to let us know how much they will pay for the house, cabinet shop and outbuilding. Hopefully, it will all end well. Thanks for the encouragement! I love the Dis community

If we do on-line check in and receive a text that our room is ready (say, while we are on DME en route to resort), and can avoid going to the Custom House, do we still get off the DME bus at the Custom House and immediately wait for an internal bus with our luggage (we will be arriving late so we will have our luggage with us) to take us to our assigned room? I assume since CBR has different sections, the text say which section we are in rather than just a room number, correct?

Oh, I just re-read the first page of this section indicating that luggage is not permitted on the internal bus. So I guess we still need to "check-in" with the Custom House bell service to at least direct them what room our luggage is to be delivered. But to we still need to go inside and speak with anyone if we know where our room is after doing on-line check in?

Just go straight to bell services just outside the main doors at Custom House. A van will take you and your luggage to your room. Depending on how busy it is, there may be a short wait.

still sitting with two reservations....and the battle continues..

I have three 10 night reservations at CBR right now with different check in dates. My DD has travel soccer tryouts anywhere from 5/31-6/5. They aren't releasing the schedule until the middle of April which is after the time frame I need to book FP+. I feel guilty having three, but I'm glad I did it because there are only pirate rooms left for any of my potential dates.

ETA: If WDW didn't change their booking policy, I would have just booked one long reservation and dropped off the days I didn't need.

When did that start? The no luggage on the shuttle thing. Marathon Weekend 2015 I got there about 9:30/9:45 and was directed luggage and all to the internal shuttle. Granted mine was only carry-on, but there was a family waiting with multiple bags and they were allowed on. Was it just the hour? Because no one questioned them or tried to stop them.

I still don't understand why people are so opposed to talking with the front desk CMs. I have always enjoyed chatting with them as they get my info package. But that's a whole other thing.

Ohh nooo Im so sorry...and yes wait till the very last minute!! We had to do that a few years ago when hurricane Ike came through and put an Oak tree through our roof..we ended up going to Pop ( which I have to confess I hated every minute of it ) Im like your hubby..I need the quiet if possible. Hang in there you never know, you may end up not saving that much in changing after all and can stay at CBR. Fingers crossed for you but I understand, grown up stuff ( me and hubby call it ) comes first :(

Yep..same reason here. Hate that we cant add or take away a day or we will lose the special rate. Sucks.

Makes it more exciting when you start planning for sure! You will love CBR! the time will fly in so much quicker if you start planning too :)

I spoke with a Disney cast member yesterday and I can keep my code if I want to do a split stay. We can save about $400 by staying 6 days at Pop and 8 at CBR. Still can't decide what to do.
