Are the pirate rooms being refurbished? I read online there were permits to do them. We just booked a pirate room for the first week of November and wondering if we're going to be staying there when refurbishments are going on... or if they'll be done...??

We have not received any updates from DIS members at CBR about the progress of the Pirate Room refurb.

And even if they are not done when you are there, you shouldn't have any issues. They will shut down the building to guests that they are working on. And it's a soft goods refurb so there should be no construction noises at all.

We got back on Saturday from a week stay at CBR, and all the info we got here was great!

I had requested Jamaica 45, but when we arrived, the room wasn't ready. We had a choice to wait, or see what was available, and having been up since 4am, we asked what was available. We were offered Trinidad North, building 31, and we took it. It was a great location. Quick walk to OPR and the pool, we were the same distance from both the OPR and TN bus stops, and we could see the Illuminations fireworks.

The room was very spacious. Plenty of storage. Plenty of USB outlets! Someone upthread asked about hair dryers. It took me two days to find it, but it was in a bag under the sinks. I don't use one, DH is bald, and DD5 doesn't need one, so I wasn't looking for it, although I had remarked to DH that it was odd there wasn't one - I was expecting to see one on the wall.

The bus service was great. There was only one day we waited any significant amount of time for a bus, and even that was probably only 10-15 minutes. Even from the parks we only waited for a bus for more than 5 minutes one time, and that was the only time we didn't all get seats on the bus.

We ate at the food court two or three times. The food was ok - no better or worse than most of the other food we had at WDW. (We eat mostly whole foods at home, but we're not so vigilant about it outside our own home. The amount of HFCS and preservatives really got to us after a couple of days.) DH really enjoyed the shrimp curry at OPR, and we both really liked the cuban sandwich, although it needed more mustard. DD was thrilled with the chicken nugget situation - as in for every possible meal.

The pool was awesome. DD played almost every day at the splash pool. The lifeguards were very on top of things, and very vigilant about the height restriction of 48". We saw one little one fall and hit her chin - no blood, just a small scrape and shaken -and the lifeguard was right on it with an ice pack, and offer of bandaids (because bandaids fix everything when you're 4!).

Housekeeping was great. We had requested bed rails, but because we didn't take the room originally assigned to us, they had to come later with them. After we freshened up, we went out to DTD for a few hours. When we came back there were rails on the bed, but one was wonky, so I had to call housekeeping again. They came within 15 minutes with a new rail. We also needed more towels, or so I thought - I only saw the two bath towels in the shower, and missed the stack under the sink. But, my unnecessary request for more towels was fulfilled within 10-15 minutes with the delivery of a huge bag full of towels. I requested more shampoo after the first night, because I have very thick hair, so one little bottle wasn't going to do for both DD and I to wash our hair every day. I left a note with our daily tip for more shampoo, and they left about 20 bottles of both shampoo and conditioner. Since there was so much, I tried their conditioner, but stuck with my own after that. Any shampoo will do, but not any old conditioner for my fussy hair.

We would gladly stay at CBR again.

Definitely call housekeeping for more coffee pods. We do this every visit and they bring us a bag full. No need to buy them yourselves.

Eek 4 days to go!!!! Just called CBR and asked for a room close to amenities as I have reduced mobility due to some leg operations and they said that we can have Martinique 22, looks ok on the map can anyone tell me how far a walk it is to OPR?
Thanks :tinker:

Looking forward to our first stay at CBR in late OCT. Have only stayed at CSR and from reading these post we will not be disappointed with CBR and the refurbished rooms look wonderful. When we stayed at CSR they had just finished their rehab and it was very nice as well.

im staying here aug 28 to sept 3 in a standard view room. what area should I request to stay in to be close to main pool and restaurants?

To add to what I said above in post 2603, the beds were extremely comfortable. One of the best hotel mattresses I have ever slept on.

Thanks for the info about the blow dryer, I did not want to pack one if they are in the room.

I booked a pirate room for a quick weekend trip with a friend of mine, it was the only type available with two beds at the time I booked. Any chance I can get it changed to a standard room when I check in? Or am I locked in with the pirate room?

Doesn't hurt to ask.

I'm staying here end of August in a standard room . What area is good to stay at to be close to the food court and main pool?

We are staying here June 7-13. We have stayed in a pirate room here before but this is our first time in a standard room. Two things we loved from our previous trip was how awesome Mousekeeping was and the abundance of quiet pools. We were able to swim every afternoon in a mostly empty pool.

The following buildings are the closest non-preferred locations

Jamaica 45
Aruba 51
Martinique 21, 22 and 23

All of these are a 3-5 minute stroll to OPR and the Main Pool.

We will be at CBR for the 1st time in a water view room from 12-21 to 12-28 with FD. I am so excited!! :yay: Wish I could have gotten a standard room, but no such luck. Add us to the list please!

I'm sure you'll enjoy CBR!

Keep checking for a standard room, openings pop up occasionally. We didn't think we would even get FD but one day a random impulse to check online got us a standard room with FD. Be persistent, it does pay off. That goes for ADRs as well.

We are 20 days out and keeping the secret from our kids as well! I don't know if I can hold out much longer, my wife is having to make sure I don't spill the beans!! Maybe we will see y'all there

It is so exciting to keep this surprise. Two years ago we surprised my nieces. We told them we were going on a Daytona Beach vacation. Daytona being our code word for Disney. We still messed up a couple of times and the teenager was mildly disappointed that she would not be taking surf lessons, but overall there was lots of jumping up and down and happy tears when we drove under the Disney arches.

We kept our trip a secret, too. It was so hard for me! DD5 didn't figure it out until we got to MCO and she saw all the Mickeys and we were going towards MDE.

I will be there in less than a month and we are staying in a Pirate room so I will be sure to put lots of pictures in my Trip Report and report on any refurbs too!
