I changed my reservation from POFQ to CBR today !!

I have only stayed at AKL and POFQ, so I have a lot of questions.

I read through hundreds of pages about this resort and the most recent thread is great! I love all the pics and details. SO, if I missed the answers to the questions I have please forgive me. I really do appreciate the attention to this thread and look forward to advice about our stay at CBR.

First, I have a standard view booked but I may change it to a King room. If I request a room near the food court will the standard view or King room be most likely to get a room near the food court? Next, is it worth it to upgrade to a King room? It is only DH and myself but we usually have 2 Queen beds so either way if okay for us? Also, What requests would you make and how (via fax around 5 days before arrival or calling or online) to be closest to OPR?

Our travel dates are September 12-19, 2015. Again, thank you for your help.

I faxed my room requests 5 days before and received everything I requested.

Great price you snagged! The preferred rooms haven't been refurbed to sleep 5 yet, that is why you don't see the option...these are the closest to the food court.

Your best bet is when checking in, tell them your situation, and they might find something closer. But CBR, like POR has buildings that can be quite a hike to the food court and pool...BUT unlike POR, has an internal bus system you can take...and plenty of parking by the food court.

As for parking at the front, the buses to the parks don't stop at the "Custom House". Plus there are not that many spaces there, it is only for check in...the main building where the food court is (Old Port Royale) does have plenty of parking..this would be my suggestion if you end up too far from the food court, just dirve to it...or take the internal bus.

Sounds great. Thanks! I wouldn't want to put someone out who might actually need the closer room. I made a request when I did online check in, but if we end up further away, I can just drive and park. I am sure it will be just fine. Good to know about the internal bus too. That is definitely an improvement over POR. :)

So, we really want to stay at CB for our September trip, but my mama has a bum knee. It's not very serious, but it starts to bug her when there in excessive walking (aka WDW) involved. What building to you suggest we ask for? Do the proffered rooms really get you closer to the main building? We're willing to pay for mama to be more comfortable, but only if it's worth it.

Just got to our rooms..... check in was a NIGHTMARE. We booked 2 STANDARD ROOMS, guaranteed connecting. I did online check in and faxed in a request this past Monday. So we check in and..... they 'upgraded' us to Pirate Rooms! No thanks! I went round and round with the girl and said they are filled to capacity, they could give us a preferred room at an additional cost, so they are NOT filled then. I asked for a manager and simply told him that I don't consider being moved to Trinidad South in a Pirate room and upgrade. He did something and came back and moved us to Aruba 54 on the second floor. Conneting rooms, one with two queens and one with a king, no Murphy bed which I was hoping for. Location is fair, bus stop is close buy OPR is, ah heck it's not that bad.

So as for the new rooms. We like them. The sliding doors to the bathroom will be an issue as time goes on. Our already stick and with the humidity changes down here they'll be a mess, no big deal though. I'm not 100% sure the queens are queens, they look smaller to me. I personally like the colors and what not, but realistically its a room to sleep in and not much more.

I'll post more later, here for 6 days.

Finally caught up with this thread :)

Mickeystoontown, thanks for the wonderful job you've done organizing and maintaining this thread :flower3: I love all the visuals, it answers a lot of things that run through my mind when trying to plan ;) and thanks to everyone who contributes with info and updates.

Can you add us to the list please, we will be at CBR May 30th-June 4th :goodvibes

Quick update after night one.

Again, we have 2 connecting refurbished rooms. Our king bed is very comfortable, not sure if it's new or not, never had a king here. Our 3 kids shared the 2 queen beds and they slept fine.

The temperature in our room fluctuated a lot. Seemed like it kept getting warm, then cold then warm. I might call and have to them look at it.

One HUGE mistake that Disney made is putting USB charging outlets in the night stands and TV cabinet. USB outlets wear out very quickly if you plug and unplug often and two of them in our room are loose already and two more don't charge. In general they will work in a pinch but I recommend bringing your charger and your cord.

More more observation, the covered up the windows directly next to the entrance doors... I'll try and post pics later.

:surfweb: We have booked a room for our family of 5 at CBR for November!! :cool1: I was so happy to see that they are now accommodating groups of 5 - our options have been pretty limited for years - mind you we could go to most any Deluxe, however it wasn't always in our budget, depending on the deals we did or didn't get. I am happy to see that they have upgraded the bed to queens.. Doubles just weren't that comfortable! Should we not get a free dining offer, as we have in t he past in November, this is much more affordable.

As much as we enjoyed it the two times we have stayed, I was done staying at POR and was looking for soemthing new! Ideally, I would love to stay at every property during my time on earth! :thumbsup2

Can anyone give recommendations for room locations to request? We have booked a water view room (preferred has a max of 4 still :( ) and have no physical limitations. Just 3 kids that will be back and forth between the food court and pool! ((I am sure this has already been discussed in this thread, however, I am not sure I could find the info in the 50+ pages!)) TIA :wave2:

Preferred haven't had been refurbed yet, that might change in a month or two...Jamaica or Aruba are your best bets, depending on the building it is a short walk across Caribbean Cay to the pool, food court...still have a couple building in each that are not that close, but odds are better than if you were to get Barbados.

Hi! We are considering CBR for an Oct trip this year! Excited! I want to book a preferred room but we need a Murphy bed. On the Disney site it only has occupancy five for standard or water rooms. Has anyone booked a Murphy bed room in a preferred room? Or is there any info whether Murphy beds are still being added and might be in the preferred buildings? Thank you for help!

We are only guessing at this point, but there really is no reason they won't add them to the preferred...what happened was the refurb to add the pulldown beds into some rooms (and a complete update inside each room) started back in June, and progressed to the point where they were about to start in on the preferred buildings just prior to the Christmas rush...so they stopped work for the holidays...the rooms for 5 didn't become bookable until late this last fall, after they had completed Jamaica, Aruba and Barbados...So the preferred rooms for 5 will be bookable in March or April I assume...but am just guessing from the past pattern.

Thank you, Ariadne! This is good to know! I will be keeping a close eye on this thread for further remodeling reports! Go CBR!

If not using the yellow luggage tags. After you check in, do you take your luggage on the internal bus to your section or you must let Bell services take it to your room?

Once renovations are complete, will all king rooms also have a pull down bed? We are a family of 2 adults and 1 child. Thinking it would be great if we could do a king bed plus pull down. But it would also be nice to have preferred…. I'm guessing right now you can't book both (king and preferred)? When I looked online it wouldn't even let me choose king as it states 2 max for those rooms. Or maybe I'm mistaken and they aren't adding pull down beds to those?

We are giving CBR another shot - now that we can fit all 5 of us in a room. We were unimpressed a few years ago when we booked preferred and ended up in building 33. Waited an eternity at check in for the internal bus. Walks to the food court and pool were much longer than we had planned on (since we book preferred) and check out process was unclear to us.

We are hoping for a much better experience this time, April 18-20 before our cruise on the Dream.

julieanddanny, are you on the 20th Dream cruise? We are also on it. There are 11 of us that will be staying at CBR pre cruise and then going to the Dream. Can't wait. Most of us will arrive at CBR 4/15. Are you on FB page?

Fresh from CBR! We were in room 4504 in the Jamaica section. It was booked as a standard room. This room was a corner, handicapped accessible room with tub and shower. My room was rehabbed and was beautiful.

I loved the location! 4 minute walk to the bus. Old Port Royale was about a 10 minute walk.

Best part about Jamaica is that it's the first stop when you're getting off the Epcot, DHS and AK bus! Nice at the end of the day! In the morning you have to go all the way around before heading to the park.

I'm not sure if I will stay here again only because Riverside is my favorite moderate. Definitely would recommend it to my travel clients though.

This thread was very helpful in planning my stay! I hope my review will help someone!

Oh,is this why?! I had been wondering. Glad to hear they will still be refurbish the preferred rooms for us families of 5!
