I'm totally new to CBR. I'm getting ready to book and we have a family of 5 so will need the Murphy Bed. I have two options when booking, Standard and pool/water view. We would like to book into a refurbished room. Which option gives the best chance of getting a refurbed room? We are going the first week in March.

Thanks!!

I came home this past Monday from our most recent stay at CBR, and I have to say, this was the most "unmagical" experience we've had there. Not sure if we'll be going back.

1. I booked a Preferred room, and when I did the online check-in 60 days in advance, I requested Martinique and a water view. When we got to CBR and checked in, I asked if a water-view room was available, as requested. The woman who checked us in shook her head and told me that I couldn't have both a Preferred room and a water view because they are two separate bookable categories. My problem with that response is: #1, I have booked the same way twice before and have never been told I couldn't have both (I have always gotten my requests in the past), and #2, if it's really not possible to book both a Preferred room and request a water view, then why is it a choice when I do online check-in? I know my online requests are not guaranteed, but I know in this case I could have had both, and she told me I could not.

2. Luggage was delivered when we were out to dinner at DTD. The only problem is.....the luggage that was delivered to our room wasn't ours! After a long day of travel, and when coming "home" to crash, the last thing I wanted to do was have to worry about tracking down our luggage! (Luckily they resolved that problem pretty quickly).

3. Housekeeping was TERRIBLE! Our room was not vacuumed for at least the last 3-4 days we were there, and our bathroom floor and toilet weren't cleaned all week. On our first morning there, our housekeeper came around 8AM before we were gone for the day, and when I asked if she could come back later, she just asked how many towels I needed for the day....then she handed me the towels and told me she'd do a full cleaning the next day. Two days later, we received new towels (and they took the old towels and emptied the trash), but the beds weren't made. Weird!

4. We had a dripping sound up in the fan of the bathroom. Luckily, nothing was actually dripping down, and you couldn't hear it outside the bathroom area, so it wasn't that bothersome. Hopefully that will be fixed when the rooms are refurbed in the near future.

5. On our last day, we had 2 QS meals left that we weren't going to use. In the past (and as recently as last year), we've been able to trade 1 QS meal for 2 or 3 snacks. When we left last Monday, they traded 1 QS meal = 1 snack. That doesn't seem right. I think there should be a consistent way that they convert meal credits for everyone.

6. Bus service - I actually think the bus service was quite good for the most part. Being in Martinique, our stop was first most of the time, so that was nice. We never had to wait more than maybe 15 minutes for a bus. However, last Sunday evening after the fireworks at MK, we had a bus driver that loaded people in, shoulder-to-shoulder, with no breathing room. As people were boarding the bus, he kept asking everyone to move back as far as possible....even when there was no more room. He loaded that bus right up, and it was a pretty uncomfortable ride.

On a positive note, our experiences at OPR were good. The food choices were good, lines weren't too long, and food was served fresh and hot. We had dinner one night at Shutters, and they were VERY accommodating to my two picky-eating children.

The pools and surrounding areas were clean, and the kids enjoyed the activities when they could (we had some rainy & chilly days when we were down there, so we weren't able to use the pools as much as we would have liked).

Don't want to sound too much like a "downer" here...after all, we were in Disney, so it was all good. But I just wanted to let everyone know of some of the negative experiences we had, and I was also wondering if anyone has experienced any of the same? We've had two very good experiences at CBR in the last few years, and we were excited to be going "home" again. It just wasn't the same this time.

If you are booking for a family of 5 you will automatically get a refurbed room with a Murphy bed as these are the only rooms you can book for 5 people. Doesn't matter which option you pick as long as you choose 5 people for the room.

Thank you!! That's what I was hoping for :cool1:

If I need a room for two adults what should I book? Am I right that the preferred rooms are not refurbed yet?

Preferred rooms are not refurbed yet however by 1st week of March a lot of the preferred rooms will be done. Still no guarantee of getting one though unless they are all done by then.

I'm sure Martinique will all be done by then given the rate they have been finishing them in the past.

We just returned last Sunday. We were in Martinique Building 23 and had a very similar experience. Housekeeping was absolutely AWFUL. We were really disappointed. We also experienced uninformed and rude CMs. This was the first time we've had an unmagical experience, too. It was bad enough that we won't be making our annual trip this next year. You are the third person I've heard of so far who was there the same week as us who had a similar experience in Martinique - I'm assuming you were in Martinique. I was frankly shocked that Disney would even put people in rooms as filthy as ours were and then not do much about it after we complained.

Yes. We were in Martinique Building 24.

Us too. We were in Martinique 23 and also came home last Sunday. We were both shocked at the resort. We feel like the value resorts are much nicer and cheaper, plus no crazy 6 bus stops at the value resorts!

Did you request a building other than Martinique? Did you do on-line check-in? I am so afraid to have an experience like this. I would have demanded to be moved or change resorts.

Make sure to fill out a feedback form on the website. Disney needs to know of positives and negatives so they can improve!

I'll be here in January. I'm requesting Jamaica or
Aruba: the buildings closest to the bridge. Hopefully I get my request!

I love this thread! Thanks for all of the info!

I am really hoping to hear ...Is there a recommended number of days before the trip to fax a request?

Yes. We were in Martinique Building 24.

I'm wondering if these negative experiences in Martinique and housekeeping are related to the renovations? Like maybe they haven't staffed it appropriately to clean it if it's being refurbished? (Not that that justifies, just speculating)

Our bad experience was in Jamaica. Although it wasn't as bad as what some have said, we did have a problem getting our luggage and two separate days the housekeeping did not replenish the toilet paper when they cleaned. Our last day we had to actually call the front desk and ask someone to bring toilet paper.

Hi all!

I enthusiastically request to be added to the roll call for January 13th through 21st! Thank you very much in advance! :woohoo:

This will be my first trip to CBR, but my sixth to WDW and I am very much looking forward to experiencing CBR for the first time. It looks absolutely lovely, and I have a blast reading all your stories and reviews of the resort (I've been lurking for quite some time now, and have read all the way through this thread and the previous one). It's just myself and my best friend this time, and she's never been to Disney before, so I am especially excited to be with there when she experiences the magic for the first time! I know she is thrilled to be going, and is particularly excited about how beautiful CBR is.

I considered a preferred room, but decided to book standard since we are both in our early 20s and don't mind to walk a little in exchange for a bit of extra money to spend in the parks (which I will most definitely be doing a whole bunch of ::yes:: ). I intend to request Jamaica, which seems to be pretty popular among you all, but will be pleased no matter where we end up; we are in Disney and will have a fabulous time any which way it works out!

I've had so many of my questions answered by reading these threads and I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for taking their time to post and help everyone out. I look forward to sharing my pre-trip excitment with you all!

Only 44 more days!

I remember the fridges at Pop Century had a small freezer compartment. Do the fridges at CBR have them? From the pictures, it looks like they do not. Can we get ice at OPR? Are the soda machines equipped with ice dispensers like at a fast food place? I want to take groceries with us when we leave CBR and travel to the beach for a few days and I would like to put them on ice. I hate the idea of trying to find a grocery store near the beach.

So I am booked in a preferred room for my stay in a few weeks. I had originally requested Martinique 24 or 25 I believe. Due to the recent Mousekeeping issues noted in buildings 23and 24, I was wondering if anyone had any issues in either Martinique 25, 26 or Trinidad North? Trying to at least get a building that is clean since there are no standard free dining rooms left (at least last I checked).
