The BlackHawks won the Stanley Cup again! The BlackHawks won the Stanley Cup again! :banana:party::cool1:

Thank you and carry on! :thumbsup2

Congrats, from a downtrodden ex-Oilers fan. And they did it at home for the first time in like 70 years!?!?!? Actually, I'm pretty happy they did that. :thumbsup2

The only reason I'm ok with this is because we have a hometown Buffalo boy on that team!

I must admit I'm envious too. I just started really paying mine off and it is due by Aug 5th. I started doing the target gift card deal and have managed to save a little bit so far. Next year I will already be signed up for the DVA and be better prepared. I have learned so much on this board!

I am sure this is completely obvious, but what is the DVA that you are signing up for? I am implying that it is some kind of extra discount?

Here's an obscure question. Is anyone here familiar with some of the staff at Old Port Royale? On our trip this past January, we got talking to a gentleman who was cleaning tables in the food court. He was very friendly and told us a lot about himself. I believe he was over 90yrs old and as long as he could still clear tables (albeit slowly), Disney let him keep the job. I am forgetting his name. He was quite lovely and very talkative. He even made us a bit late for something, but I just couldn't tear myself away since he was so engaging! At first I felt sorry for him for needing to work when he was so elderly, but he genuinely enjoyed the interaction with guests and the job kept him moving and active. Does anyone know who I mean? I was there again in May, but didn't see him all week. Thanks for any info! :)

This is my first trip to this resort in September! We booked at King Bed room. Are all rooms already refurbished. Also does anyone have pictures of the king bedrooms? Thanks!

All of the rooms except for the Pirate Rooms have been refurbished.

I hope he's still there.....I would love to be a cm after I retire in about 10 years!

I just learned about this too and need to do some investigating......

We are a fam of 5 who has stayed at POR in the past... this thread may be winning us over to CBR for our next trip. My littlest saw the pool and was veeeeeeeeeery interested. =) Thanks for all the great info!
Gluestickgirl, are you a scrapbook er who used to be at 2peas?

Disney Vacation Account - you get a $20 gift card for every $1000 you save up. You can enter all your target gift cards into one holding account and when you are ready to make a payment you have that one amount in your Disney Vacation account to give to them with the account number.

I know you didn't ask me but, the DVA is a savings account basically that you can set up to help you save money for a Disney trip. Most WDW, cruises, etc. It will help you calculate how much you need for your trip and then you deposit money into the account either by direct deposit or one time deposits. You do not earn interest on this account though. If you change your mind, you can get your money back out at any time. For every $1000 you put in there and use towards your Disney vacation, you get $20 back on a gift card before your trip. Your account must be active for a certain amount of time for this to take effect though. Can't remember how long..seems it's like 5 months or so. It adds up and every little bit helps. I saved $7.02 on every $150 worth of cards at Sam's Club and then deposited it all into my DVA last Christmas. I saved over $200 buying the cards at Sam's and then got an $80 gift card from my DVA too. $300 is $300 in my book! Go and check out the website disneyvacationaccount.disney.go.com/ Good luck! :)

I asked this same question early in the thread but, for the life of me I don't remember when that was. It was right after free dining though. Someone posted a picture for me. It's here somewhere! The only real difference in the king room though was that it has one big bed obviously more floor space and a bed stand on both sides of the bed.

His name is Robert, and he has been there every trip we have been on the last ten years (maybe longer). We always talk to him every trip- it always makes us happy to see him! Yes, he is very chatty and has such engaging stories. I believe he said he has over 60 grandchildren (including the greats) by now or something like that. He said he'll keep working until he keels over, lol! We were there the first week of June and he was still there- we were happy to see him still around!

Oh, this made my day! Thank you! I remember him saying he'll work until he keels over. Wow, over 60 grandchildren. Thanks a million for sharing. I will look for him on the next trip!! :)

Got a strange question, someone had made comment that with the new "barn doors" to the sink area there is no privacy because they don't close all the way. Does anyone know if the inside of the doors have the same handle that is on the outside of the doors? I'm curious if one could put a hair tie or use some string to close them together. Just a thought

I guess I missed the comment about the doors not shutting. Something must have been wrong with their doors. Ours shut just fine. :)

Thanks. I feel really spoiled with this team the last 6 years. I've been fan for 40 years and to see them win it at home was priceless.

And I love that little feller!
