I'm sorry you had such an unpleasant experience. Left up to me I will go every trip at opening. I loved the feeling of 'Ohana with the music and singing and clapping when they opened. I loved the food! And they were so kind to my daughter who slept through her entire meal! They let her take something even though it wasn't allowed.

I am worried since my favorites are off the menu, the pork(and I don't even eat pork), and the lettuce wraps! But I know I'll love it. One day...I'll be a Poly guest!
I did not know until you posted this that they took the lettuce wraps away. It is not something I would normally eat but, I tried them and fell in love! Now I am sad. Guess I'll have to eat more of the other good stuff!

I know that there have been questions about fax requests being honored. I used the Touring Plans fax service and got the room two doors down from the one I requested so it seems that they do work.
I'm so glad to hear this. Did you make any other requests by phone or do online check-in?

They booked a standard room to save some money but we got a waterview at the suggestion of my TA. She said it would be closer to the pool/dining.
I just wanted to let you know that your TA was wrong to tell you that a water view was closer to the pool/dining. Water view will have a view of the water, lake OR pool. Also, water view has absolutely nothing to do with being near dining at all. It could be anywhere in the resort. Preferred rooms are the ones that are close to the dining. I can't believe she actually told you that. :(

Gorgeous morning at quiet pool in Martinique. We are in building 23. Quick walk to Port Royale, bus stop, quiet pool. This resort is just so pretty! The beds are super comfortable too. We seemed to have plenty of room too for our family of five. And the new laundry is just cool- being able to check machine status and set alerts when the machine is done is nice! We are on second floor- never heard anyone in neighboring rooms.
We switch today to Beach Club- just when I have learned my way around here:thumbsup2

So great full for the Resorts forum. I can see why CBR gets so much love!

I did not do a phone request. I did online check in and requested Martinique and upper floor so the fact that I got the exact building and just two doors down from the exact room means my fax was read and put into the system.

I was wondering for those that have stayed at CBR before does it have a real Disney feel to it? I know that is a strange question. We have stayed at POR the last few years and it has a real magical unmistakable Disney World feel and atmosphere. We love POR but are giving CBR a go because we were able to get the free dining which really helps the affordability of the vacation.

I was so happy to find out that the rooms have been redone and there are queen beds now and a much nicer look to the rooms. I do not understand why the Disney website is not updated to reflect these changes in the pictures.

This is a great thread with some real wonderful information thank you.

I'm going to ask the chef when he comes out for my daughter's food allergy. The worse he can say is nope. But I got the salad and that wasn't on the menu when I went.

I don't quite know what you mean by Disney feel, but it is a great resort. You can see the Epcot fireworks from the pool areas, and the OPR has lots of Disney merchandise. If you are talking specifically about like a Pirates of the Caribbean feel, then the answer would be No, except that the main pool at OPR does feel like a Disney resort.

Seems like CBR is definitely going to be our next WDW stay....

Shame we've got so long to wait - but excited that I have so much time to plan!

For us UK guests CBR is £400 ($600) less than the other mods for a 2 week stay - really not sure why as CBR looks fabulous. So I'll be using that money for extra food/shopping and enjoying our time in Caribbean Beach.

We are starting our 19 hour drive tonight!! I am so excited!! We will be checking in to CBR for the first time Sunday afternoon!!

This will be our first onsite stay. I used the touringplans fax system for our room request so I will update you all with how that went.

I used it as well and got pretty close to what I requested. I did accidentally request a water view when I didn't pay for it (I was looking at location, not view), so they put me as close to my request within the correct view as possible. I was pleased with the service and will use it again.

I am having major post-vacation funk and CBR withdrawal! :) I really can't get past how much we loved CBR. The kids have never really talked about really LOVING a hotel we stayed at, they just like the fun of a hotel in general. I thought after AoA, CBR would be a major let down from a kid perspective. But they love it. They keep saying they never want to stay anywhere else and they can't wait to go back.

If you are looking for blatant Disney theming you won't find it here but if you feel the Disney magic in being transported to a completely different place then it's at CBR. Every detail of the resort gives it a complete Caribbean Island feel. To me that's the magic part. I feel completely transported to another place. Not sure if that's what you are looking for or not though.

We start our 12 hour drive tomorrow morning! We'll be at Universal Orlando first, but will be at CBR on Wednesday. So excited!

Just got to CBR after staying at SSR for 7 nights. Requested Jamaica and we are in Trinidad North building 33. I was still asleep this morning (8:23) when I got the text with my room number (and I did have a balance because I did a room only reservation and it was automatically charged to my card on file). We have only been here long enough to bring our stuff in and walk to Port Royal to fill our mugs and grab a spoon. Honestly, so far we like it better than SSR. At SSR we were in Grandstand and our building was right beside the bus stop and it was the first stop, but that was really the only thing we liked. We will see how the bus situation is here. Now we are off to DAK for our 11:30 Dinosaur FP.

Thanks. I Guess what I mean is that feeling when walking down Main Street at MK. They do an amazing job at transporting you back to the Victorian era in architecture but it has that unmistakable disney atmosphere that permeates. I am not talking about Characters it is just that feeling that keeps everyone running back to Disney World.

When we stay at POR they of course have that put amazing effort into landscaping etc to recreate different aspects of Orleans but it has an unmistakable feeling of Disney World. I love that Disney atmosphere that permeates every part of Disney World. If that makes sense?
