Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Hi all,
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I checked out the parking a few times in the morning and evening and the lots were full with folks parking in the back far lots.
This week isn't a good gage though since the place is packed.
We've been here over Thanksgiving many years and this has been the most crowded we have seen it by far. I'm wondering if the free dining extension had something to do with it.
Villas have been great and we've had a wonderful time.

Where would I get mickey waffles while staying at Boardwalk? Dolphin/Swan? Beach or Yacht?

I actually got them at the Garden Grove restaurant in the Swan. It's a character breakfast buffet on the weekends and it was $24.99 per person plus they took tables in wonderland discount and the food was actually really good. We went at 10:45ish and it was empty.

I really wanted to schedule a breakfast here on our trip but the reservation system is really wonky for it. When I put in breakfast for any of our dates only 6 or 7 pm show up and nothing for actual breakfast times. I ended up with Fresh Mediterranean Market instead. I'll keep checking though! Is it closed for any reason this next week?

And for the foodies out there, I have a chance to do a late Ohana one night. I've never been so is it worth it for the experience? Food? We tend to shy away from anything "family style". Thanks for the help! (sorry for derail!)

If you've never been to the Poly at all, it's worth a visit just to see the place. In terms of Ohana, our experience has varied. The food is good, not amazing. Not close to any of the signatures. The service is so so. Kids will enjoy some of the activities they have. In terms of the value, it's a LOT of good food for the price, which is why it's been a tough ADR to get for like, forever. We actually prefer Kona Cafe. It's also casual, service is so so (friendly but way overworked/understaffed), but we've found the food quality to be better. You won't go wrong with either one!!

Thanks! I've been reading through the information on this thread, and see someone recommended a Village Green view request. That sounds good to me, but my confirmation for the rental says 'preferred view' studio and I am not sure what exactly that means yet! We're pretty easy going and often don't make location requests so I'm still working that out.

On the Villas side, Preferred view is a non-Boardwalk mostly water view. It includes the pools, the marina heading towards Hollywood Studios, and that Village Green area, which is the area above the Wyland Gallery, and gives a partial (side) Boardwalk view. There are some studios there on the second floor where the balcony in basically enclosed, cutting off some of the view. The nice thing about the Village Green area is that it's close to the lobby, and the hallways at BWV can get long, and there are only elevators by the lobby and not at the ends of the halls. Enjoy!

Only 10 more days until our stay at the BWI, and I am so very excited to finally be going back. I have missed staying at the Innkeepers Club our last few stays. So very excited to see everyone there!!!

Thanks for the explanation. We don't really care much about being close to the elevators, so maybe I won't request that view.

Checking in for our first Boardwalk stay in 18 days...We don't usually plan our trips so far out, but we booked this at around 488 days out. Never again! I've been losing my mind with the waiting! I thought our summer trip to Disneyland would hold me over, but I was wrong. SO HAPPY to finally cross the Boardwalk off our list of "to do" resorts, and I can't wait to get this trip started!

We received our Magic Bands over Thanksgiving. Yeah, I was thankful! I enjoy the anticipation of the trip coming up, but will love the trip itself even more (of course). Not too long now.

I am curious about this, too! We usually take some downtime in the afternoon and I hope it's possible to do this then. We leave in 2 days. Would love to hear if anyone has spied this happening and where. This is all I've found on the Disney Parks blog:

• New at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort is the “Gingerbread Academy” that lets guests build gingerbread houses to take home, along with complimentary hot chocolate and apple cider for sipping. Cost is $125 for up to four guests. If you prefer to decorate a gingerbread cookie, cost is $8.95 per ornament, with proceeds to benefit Give Kids the World. And a chance to work with one of the pastry chefs to create holiday cupcakes is $10.95 per person. Went to the Boardwalk yesterday ready to decorate cupcakes and cookies. Asked cast members where it was and they looked it up and said it didn’t start until December 2nd.
