Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Cash reservation through Disney Reservation Center for BWV standard notation means pool/garden view usually.

Ok that's news to me. From the website, a standard view says "Views of Resort Grounds or Parking Area".

That would be a DVC points reservation (along the main drive), not a DRC cash reservation. You usually cannot get the DVC standard reservation for anything but points because it gets filled up right away at 11 months out.

I was going to rent points, but realized I was too late so I booked through Disney directly since they luckily sent me a PIN code and BWV were 30% off. I guess I'm confused what I'll get and not sure what I should request. Any suggestions? I'd prefer greenery over a pool if that even is an option. And top floor.

If you had a studio you could request a Village Green view (that's the grassy area between the villas and the inn facing the water. But I'm not sure that there are any one bedrooms in that area. Otherwise, you might request a leisure pool view (not as noisy as the Luna Park pool during the day with pool parties and such). You could request "something like Village Green" and hope they understand what you want.

We will be staying in a Garden suite in January. I know there are 14 total and that while most have the private courtyard entrance, 3 do not and those ones have a balcony.
I've found a few photos online of the ones with the private courtyard entrance, but I'm having trouble finding any of what the entrance looks like for the other 3--and how big the balcony is.
Does anyone have a photo, or even a written description?
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that all Garden Suites have a private entrance from outside. Some of those suites also have a balcony off the second floor of the suite. Could that be what you are thinking?

Eta photos from Google search...these are not my photos.

Awesome! Thank you so much!
I think maybe the difference is that most have a fenced in courtyard surrounding the private entrance, but those other 3 don't have the fenced courtyard and instead have a balcony?

First of all thank you all of the hard work it took to make this thread. And for all the replies. We recently booked our 5th trip to WDW for Dec 2017. This will be our first time at BWI and we are beyond excited. Our party consists of me, DH, DD 17, DS14, and DSF 13. I think reading a little of this thread every day will help me plan and countdown until our trip.

We're renting points for the first time, we requested a standard view but on our contract is says pool/garden view. Where would we most likely be? Not that we care I'm just happy to be going and staying in the Boardwalk Villas.

Another difference is these 3 garden suites have a different layout inside and slightly different decor. You can see about a dozen photos of the garden suite with balcony starting with this Yelp photo.

You can see more inside photos of the balcony garden suites in pictures 8-12 here. (You've already seen the outside balcony picture from this site.)

We are toying with the idea of upgrading to club level on our next stay. We stayed club level at the beach club last time and loved it. The only thing was we got rid of the dining plan and that was our biggest regret. DH and I agreed if we ever do cl again we would keep the dining plan and enjoy a few of the 2 TS locations we have been wanting to try.
Is the lounge at the bwi convenient to the rooms? Anything else I should know befo r making my decision?
Thank you

For the most part the rooms are very convenient to the lounge. With the exception of the garden cottages and 4 deluxe CL rooms that are on the third floor the rooms are all on the fourth floor surrounding the lounge. The lounge basically sits in the middle and the rooms fan off to each side so to speak. They have added I think ten rooms to the CL that are a little bit further away down the hallway but still on the fourth floor. To avoid these rooms you can request to be inside the Innkeepers doors which is were most of the CL rooms are located around the lounge. The Garden Cottages ( which are being discussed above) are on the ground floor around the quite pool and you do need to go outside and up 4 flights of stairs to get to the lounge from them. Those back stairs do make it very convenient to get to the quite pool from the rest of the CL rooms.

BWI is by far my favorite deluxe hotel and I hope you enjoy it as well if you choose to stay there.

Thank you so much!

You're very welcome. I'm also staying in a garden suite in January, and trying to decide whether to request one of the balcony rooms. I prefer a balcony over a patio if I'm going to sit outside, but not sure if that's an issue in January. I also prefer the layout and decor of the balcony rooms. On the other hand, those gardens and picket fences are soooo darn charming, I might have garden-envy every time I enter and exit a balcony room. Not that there's any guarantee of getting the requested room type, of course. Fortunately either option looks really nice. I've been wanting to stay in one of these rooms for years!

Hello all,

We will be going to Disney BW Deluxe Villas this December. I have requested a room through my travel agent, which she says is the best way of doing it. However, is doing Tourplans room request an added % chance or?

What about the possibility of being upgraded for free, does this ever happen? If I check in early, will my chances for being upgraded (if any) be ruined?

Thanks!

Just booked a BWV studio room for June 8 - June 14. Celebrating son's high school graduation. We haven't been to WDW in 7 years! We became hooked on Disney cruises instead. Wife wanted to go to Turks & Caicos, but I convinced the kids (DS - 18, and DD - 12) that it was time for us to go back to WDW. 3 on 1 - we won! 246 days - can't wait to stay at BWV. We've done Poly, Wilderness Lodge, and Contemporary, but never Boardwalk. Looks like a great location and great resort. Looking forward to learning more about it, and to returning to WDW!!

Welcome to the thread and I'll log your dates. It's so nice being able to walk to Epcot and DHS.

Just booked my first stay at the Boardwalk Inn yesterday. We purchased APs on our trip last January (staying at the Poly Villas then) and just returned from our 2nd trip using them (POFQ). We decided to take one more trip while our APs were still valid and I convinced the wife to stay at the Boardwalk. We both loved the location and easy access to 2 parks from the Yacht Club when we stayed there a few years ago. And now with 2 little ones and a double stroller, the close proximity of both Epcot and DHS is a huge positive...if only there were a monorail stop in Crescent Lake.

YIPPEE for your first stay at BWI. You're going to love rolling that stroller right into two parks:)

Hi, new to the thread! We are headed to Disney for spring break April 2-8. We are staying in a deluxe studio room at BWV. This will be our first time at BW and the first time my family of 5 has stayed at a deluxe resort. We are super excited!!

:tigger::sulley::stitch:

Welcome! I'll add your dates to the BoardWalk Bulletin:)

Kook Lots and lots of good and up to date info...as usual..Many thanks! :goodvibes

We are under the 2 month mark now...and cannot wait to start off the holiday season at WDW..particularly the Candelight Processional and for the first time doing the Yuletide Fantasy Tour!

You're so gracious, @BlueSkies:). Will you be posting a LIVE TR?

Got here to BWI about an hour ago. Walked over from Swan, where we were last night. Weather is really nothing more than the worse of one of the summer afternoon thunderstorms.

Anyway, lobby was packed when we walked in, about 11:00 or so. Long lines. But they are fully staffed at check-in, every counter spot manned. Line moved fast and we were in our room by 11:20

Chip and Dale showed up to play. Activity CM had stuff out for the kids to play with

Food choices are identical buffet at Flying Fish and Tratorria from noon to 4:00. They are undecided on what dinner options will be

Thanks for reporting LIVE. How was the rest of your stay, @AngiTN?

My son works as a gardener at the MK. He was told yesterday to report today at 6PM (instead of his usual 3AM time) to begin clean up. Then he will probably work right through his Saturday morning shift (4AM to noon).

Please thank your DS for us, @Deb & Bill. We truly appreciate all the "behind the seeds" work he does to make the MK spectacular. It must be so tranquil being in the park for hours without any guests and without the hot sun.

Thanks for the update. Still trying to figure out how they can limit Disney Springs to Resort Guests Only.
The parks I understand but Disney Springs?

They must have used the same method they use for EMH, MB or KTTW card. They posted on the Disney website that evening that DS had reached capacity due to the limited number of open amenities, so it must have been a popular destination.

Arriving at WDW tomorrow:wave::cheer2:
Super excited!!party:
Staying at the Polynesian in a bungalow for one night. We snagged a last minute cancellation.
We are DVC members and I know that this was a LOT of points, I figure that we'll never get another chance to stay there.
Then we are off to the Boardwalk for one night and finally the Grand Floridian.
Lots of resort hopping, but glad to be able to get these resorts for a last minute planned vacation.

Very happy that Matthew is off to sea.
Thoughts and prayers to those still affected by this storm.

I hope you're having a magical time:). Is the central AC now working in the bungalows?

Wow....some of you may have seen a few of my panicking posts regarding the ambiguity of views with regards to Boardwalk View-Club level. I did send an email expressing my concerns and this is what I got back. Gotta love your IPO!

Good Afternoon!

I have reached out to our room assignment team and confirmed that you should have no issues with your Boardwalk view! I have also had them add notes regarding specific views, and possible room numbers. This way, you should not have any challenges at check in! I hope this puts you at ease, and if there is anything else we can do to assist, please let us know. We look forward to speaking with you! See ya real soon!

Where Dreams Come True

I wonder if Dale is also an IPO? Thanks for posting your response.

Hello!
I am new to this thread and have not stayed at BWI or BWV as of yet. We stayed at the BC our past 2 stays (Aug. 2015 and Aug. 2016). We do love it there but I would like to try a new deluxe resort. I am hoping to book BWI for our Aug. 2017 trip. We will be celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday and I was thinking that would be the perfect location. It's possible we may do a split stay and head to the Poly after our BWI stay.
I look forward to reading through this thread and chatting with everyone!

Welcome to the thread!

It is the perfect location what with so many "celebratory" options within walking distance - it's almost overwhelming!

You're welcome, @GOOFY4DONALD:). Let us know if you have any questions and congratulations on booking your first stay at BWI.

We will be there for marathon weekend. I showed my Dh this thread and he wants to request one with a balcony (we understand of course that it is not guaranteed.)
I've been wanting to try the Garden Suites for a long time too. :)
