Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Just booked my first stay at the Boardwalk Inn yesterday. We purchased APs on our trip last January (staying at the Poly Villas then) and just returned from our 2nd trip using them (POFQ). We decided to take one more trip while our APs were still valid and I convinced the wife to stay at the Boardwalk. We both loved the location and easy access to 2 parks from the Yacht Club when we stayed there a few years ago. And now with 2 little ones and a double stroller, the close proximity of both Epcot and DHS is a huge positive...if only there were a monorail stop in Crescent Lake.

Ok experts! Having huge second thoughts about Boardwalk Inn/Boardwalk view-club level. You may have noticed a ways back that Boardwalk "View" apparently can also mean Boardwalk Inn Gardens, as well as Crescent Lake. Who would have thunk that Boardwalk view could mean more then just a plain old Boardwalk View...which is what I want! I understand Boardwalk view/club level rooms are all on the 4th (club) floor. What the heck are Boardwalk Inn Gardens? I want to look over the Boardwalk, which clearly should include Crescent Lake. Has anyone who has stayed in this category room ever gotten anything but an actual real view of the Boardwalk? No stinkin' Gardens for me! Those that have stayed in Boardwalk View-club level, please share what you saw outside your balcony. TIA
I won't call myself an expert but I will try to figure this out for you. Before Disney changed things at the BWI CL you had three different CL. Deluxe rooms that are all located on the boardwalk (water view) but half are on the 4th floor and half on the 3rd floor. Garden cottages that are on the ground floor looking over the quite pool and no were near the boardwalk and the standard CL that was a 50/50 chance of looking over the boardwalk or over the quite pool (basically sitting over the garden cottages). Since the boardwalk view was very popular Disney decided to give the boardwalk view it's own category(with a big bump in price) and the garden view is now the standard view.

Still with me? OK then Disney decided that the BWI CL was getting really popular so they added 10 rooms on the 4th floor to the CL, even though they are outside of the Innkeepers doors, and without adding any more room to the CL lounge. These rooms look over, for the most part, the village green area that is beside the Flying Fish restaurant, or the gardens by the quite pool. If you are in the rooms that look over the village green if you look to the right you can see the boardwalk so technically it is a boardwalk view(and therefore a Crescent Lake) but you need to crank your neck around a bit. Phew! I hope this helped a little. :) So if I'm reading yours right you have a Boardwalk Inn garden view and that would be looking over the back gardens and quiet pool.

Well, I'd better not get a BWI garden view! I'm gonna feel really taken if that's what we end up with. Dang....I shouldn't have jumped at saving $1200. I had a guaranteed boardwalk view with the BWI deluxe club but gave it up for this Boardwalk view-club! Wow. Wonder what my odds are in finding a water view or something. No way do I want a pool or garden view. I think I will email the IPO but based on your info (and thank you!), I think I made a big mistake.

You have me curious now. What is the exact wording on your reservation? I'm not sure if this helps any but the rack rate difference between the Boardwalk deluxe club level room and the Boardwalk view room is only around $15 to $20 a night. The standard Boardwalk view (read Garden view) is at least $100 cheaper a night than the Boardwalk view. Disney really doesn't go out of the way to separate the wording on the rooms and it is really confusing. I always make a request to be inside the Innkeepers doors and so far we have always gotten our request. We have stayed once on a standard view room because there wasn't any boardwalk rooms and the view was ok. How many are in your party? I ask because the CL garden cottages that are on the ground floor are always the last rooms to be booked and I have heard of many couples being "upgraded" to these rooms at check in. To me this is a serious downgrade and the one time I was offered it I firmly said no Thank you! These rooms are nice for a honeymooning couple that wants total peace and quite but they are 4 floors away from the club lounge and have no balconies. Oh and you have to climb a set of stairs to your room and they only sleep two so couples are often persuaded to move to them, just be aware. We are booked in one of the Deluxe rooms for our next stay and I have requested the fourth floor but it's a 50/50 chance on what floor we end up on. With all that said I love the BWI CL and don't like the thought of staying anywhere else. I hope you enjoy it is well:)

Originally I had booked the BWI-deluxe club...from what I understand there are only 8 of those rooms, four on the 4th floor, four on the 3rd floor. I had requested the 4th floor, as that's the club floor. Apparently the four 3rd floor rooms have huge balconies though. Original rack rate was $720 but it wasn't eligible for the discount that recently came out. The CM mentioned that this boardwalk view-CL was eligible and would save us $1200. He claimed they are boardwalk view, offered to note on reservation to be close to the middle vs on the sides, supposedly helping toward a good boardwalk view. However, the info you shared doesn't bode well for that. I like your idea of requesting to be within the Innkeepers doors. I'm beyond frustrated right now, really feel that I was misdirected. In all fairness, I'm sure the $1200 savings, which pays for our park hoppers and airfare, blinded me. I guess all I can do over the next 112 days is to keep checking for the deluxe room to become available again, though I don't hold out much hope for that. There are only 2 of us but I'm surprising my hubby for his birthday and really wanted a good view, as we're both balcony sitters. I really appreciate your info. I saw those garden rooms, stairs and far from club is NOT an option.

You have me questioning our reservation as well. We have a Deluxe Studio-Boardwalk View booked for May 2017. Am I correct in saying, based on prior posts, that we may not get a room overlooking the Boardwalk?

The "deluxe studio" sounds like a Boardwalk Villa term? I don't see that exact category listed in either Inn or Villa. Are you at the Villas, Deluxe Studio and have asked for a Boardwalk view? All the Villa categories say Standard View..........

If you got a 25 percent discount and are staying a week the math works for you having a boardwalk view and not a garden view. I would talk to the IPod when they contact you and just make sure of what you booked. The IPO and the CM at the BWI are not the same. The BWI CM are the nicest to work with and the nicer you are to them the happier they are to help.

Balconies are nice but most of them have one chair so both of you sitting out on the balcony is tough. I requested the fourth floor but have decided that if we get the third floor we wil be just as happy! Heck it will help us work off some of that food and drink going up and down those stairs.

BW view for the villas would be preferred, not standard. And I don't think you can get it for cash, only points.

I have never stayed on the villa side but I would think you will have a boardwalk view.

Gotcha. We're staying 5 nights. I hope you're right about the math! I am going to fire off an Email to the IPO that contacted me when I made the original Boardwalk Inn-Deluxe Club reservation. I'll share what I get back. The room descriptions are certainly ambiguous at best......

Hi, new to the thread! We are headed to Disney for spring break April 2-8. We are staying in a deluxe studio room at BWV. This will be our first time at BW and the first time my family of 5 has stayed at a deluxe resort. We are super excited!!

:tigger::sulley::stitch:

We are at the Polynesian on 10-9; Boardwalk on 10-10; and Grand Floridian 10-11 and 10-12.
First time to resort hop, but this was a last minute plan and I was glad to get these resorts for the location.
We could have had Saratoga Springs all 4 nights, but we wanted to be closer to the parks.

What an ambitious and fun itinerary...Hope will will come back and share your experiences with us! :goodvibes

Can I ask what is the Yuletide Fantasy Tour?

We are staying at the villas.

I have family there; the parks are closed and everyone seems to be doing fine. Saw some video of wind blowing trees and its gray/cloudy/raining but otherwise all seems well. There have been activities and characters in the lobby to work on keeping kids entertained.
