Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Question. How tight does everyone think the 2br lockoff would actually be for 5 adults (me, wife, BIL, SIL and MIL) , three kids under 7 and an infant. My wife and I would have the baby with us in the 1br, BIL and SIL would take pull out in common area and MIL would take other room with the kids. We plan on spending very little time at the resort since this is our guests first time. We will probably open parks and stay till 7 or 8 each night. So it's mainly for sleeping and adults having nightcaps on the veranda. What do people have been to those 2brs before think?

I know we can fit it under the occupancy rules but curious about what people think practically.

We've done it, and it was fine. The bathrooms got busy, especially when we were all trying to be ready at the same time. Otherwise, everyone was good and we loved having the balcony area to relax after the kids went to sleep. The fact the living area will be available when the kids go to bed is a huge bonus!!

We've locked in BWV for next February 2017 (celebrating our 10 year anniversary, and traveling with DD 4). This will be our first stay at BWV. Any tips for first timers, especially with a kiddo? We have previously stayed at Swan and BCV. The kiddie pool with the elephants that spray water look cute. I look forward to checking out Bellevue Lounge in the morning for my coffee.

Tagging along on the self-park vs. valet question... I don't care if I have to valet park for no charge, but do they charge a resort guest if the self-park is full?

People are throwing out BW positives, I'll add one more thing. We did a stay at the Poly villas last month, and the check in people twice royally messed things up and had no idea what they were doing. We haven't always gotten our requests and things like that, but at the very least, the BW checkin staff always seem to know exactly what they have to do, and it's always very seamless. They always know to check everything is good with the room, magic bands, tickets, etc. And they are always very pleasant and professional about it.

Congratulations on the 10 years. I always enjoy the night entertainers on the Boardwalk and I'm sure your young en will as well. Or, he can watch a movie on the green space while you watch the entertainers and watch her.

If your going to do a princess character breakfast at Akershus in Epcot, you can sleep later and just walk over from the BWV thru IG & skip the normal resort to park transportation.

Well, since everyone is singing the praises of BW, I would love to hear peoples' opinions on the BWV v. BCV. If there is anyone who has stayed at both, and maybe even a 2 BR at both, I would love to hear them compared. I am really enjoying learning about the BW and everyone makes it sound like such a great place to stay. I was thinking of it as a 2nd choice in case I am not able to get BCV, but I am starting to wonder whether BWV should be my first choice!

Two of them are mine and the other is my BIL/SIL's. They are all her grandchildren, so nothing awkward about that. I think she would be ok with it. She could sleep with my daughter and the two boys could stay together. We will fit within the occupancy rules, but just curious if people think this is just way too crowded nonetheless.

They've also added a small Murphy bed under the tv in the studio side of the lock-off so one of the kids could sleep there. If your daughter did then your MIL would get the bed all to herself.

These are beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I was wondering if a Boardwalk view is a bookable view or just a request. I was also wondering what view and/or requests would increase my chances of not being in the noisy luggage unloading area that someone mentioned a few pages back. Thanks!

We've stayed at both, but prefer BWV. BCV has one of the most popular pools on site, but the Luna Pool is pretty cool too. And while BCV is closer to the International Gateway, the distance is negligible and you are closer to DHS from the Boardwalk. Finally, the Beach Club doesn't have Boardwalk view rooms like the Boardwalk does.

Boardwalk view is a bookable category on DVC points but not thru CRO. To try and avoid the luggage area a request for a pool view or else away from the elevators should increase the odds. In DVC bookable categories, which there are three at BWV, the rooms overlooking the luggage area are standard view since they look out towards the drive up to the resort.

At BCV you can get a 2BR with 2 beds in the second bedroom and BWV is all lock-offs so it will be a queen bed plus a double sleeper sofa but you'll have the new murphy bed too. Otherwise I consider it just to be a matter of trade-offs and preferences. If SAB is important then it's BCV. What I don't care for is that it's a long distance from the Villas and the most direct route takes you thru the lobby. We also actually prefer the slide at BW/BWV vs the slide at SAB. I like the Marketplace for a QS option at BCV although the bakery is pretty good for Boardwalk but will be an uncovered walk to get there - of course we always have umbrellas! Both DHS and Epcot are very walkable from BWV and if going to Epcot it's that last boat stop before heading there so if you are walking and see the boat you can just hop on it both going and returning. BCV is best for Epcot and a longer walk for DHS but the boat dock is quite a distance from the Villas. We tend to gravitate toward BWV and stay there much more frequently than BCV but do enjoy both.

Yahoo! I just booked a long weekend for DH and me at BWI toward the end of May. He is going to be in South Carolina with a friend the week before and I mentioned that Disney was only an 8 hour drive from there, so . . . He bought it -- hook, line, and sinker. As some of you know, DH is not a big Disney guy. I usually travel with DD. At the same time, he knows that Disney is what preserves my sanity. Because DD and I already have a late August and a pre-Christmas trip booked, I will be flipping my PH into an AP and got the AP rate for BWI for this quick trip in May. Can you tell I'm excited? I also got a great fare on my Delta flight. It's like this was meant to be . . .

Now, does anyone have the Magical Express reservation link? I've tried the one I had in my favorites and it is not working. Gracias!

We are supposed to be clear. This week and next week (Easter week) are peak times and busier. We should be arriving as everyone else is leaving. If we find each other, we can post a picture. We are doing parks everyday this trip, which is more than I prefer to do. You may find be asleep outside somewhere from exhaustion.

Everyone gone and just the AirGoofy family and pas130 + DH - love it! Don't fall asleep on CoP, you may never make it off.

Arriving on July 14 for the 2nd half of a split in a 1br Pool/garden view. Any idea what to expect re: construction in hotel and actual boardwalk during this time?

Exterior painting/repairs at BWI is slated to be completed 5 May. Flying Fish is closed through the end of September. BWV is supposed to be finished spring '16.

Hi everyone! I just booked my first solo trip to the Boardwalk to celebrate my upcoming 50th birthday. This trip was an early bday gift from my lovely husband, I am so excited to come back to Disney on my own and stay at this beautiful resort!

Happily dipping my toes into the BWI on 6/27 for an arrival night. We are transferring to the YC and this night wasn't available. Good news, we get to try something new. After exploring the lobby at Christmas, I can't wait. Now to read all the details in this great thread...

New Disney experiences are lots of fun - enjoy!

I have never stayed at BWI; but stayed at YC in December. I love being able to walk to Epcot and just being on the boardwalk. A previous poster said they've never had a problem with parking so I am hopeful we won't have a problem. We live in GA so we are driving instead of dealing with the Atlanta airport. DH loves having a balcony to get emails done while drinking coffee in the morning while I'm getting ready.

Welcome and congratulations on booking. There are a couple of BWI rooms without balconies, so to be on the safe side, I'd request that since DH loves a good balcony.

Welcome to the thread and congratulations on booking your first stay at BWV. There is more Recreation information in the first page of the thread, but your son might enjoy a ride on the Surrey bikes, Movies on the Beach, watercraft rental over at YC. If you're DVC members you have free access to the Community Hall.
