Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Can't help with the room request since our first stay at BWV will be next December, but I'm a light sleeper also and have a sound machine app the I use EVERYWHERE we travel. Many different sounds to choose from, and you will be able to sleep through most anything. I plug it behind the nightstand, adjust the volume, and charge the phone at the same time. :-)
My challenge there is everyone else in the room would probably be bothered by the sound machine. But thank you for the suggestion!

The main pool closes pretty early and doesn't open early in the a.m. The other pool view overlooks the "quiet pool" on the DVC side and it has never been raucous when we have stayed. In fact, when we were there in October we had the pool entirely to ourselves from around 1:00 p.m. until we left late afternoon. There were a few folks sitting around reading, but other than that--quiet. Obviously during busier times that would change. I would think around the main pool you would be fine unless you go to bed before 9:00 p.m. and don't get up until lunch. :ssst: A higher floor might also be your friend for quiet.
The pool noise has never been an issue since the patio doors seem to be enough of a buffer. It's the boat horns that are my biggest concern. Since we're not doing a boardwalk view we should be fine on that side, but being near the water on the pathway to DHS might be an issue. Is the quiet pool close to the water?

If you booked through CRO, most likely you will be facing one of the pools or the courtyard near The Swan. The lobby is on the second floor. If you want a good view, I would request upper floor. For convenience, I would request first floor. If you have a car, I would request quiet pool view, you'll be near the parking lot.
Thanks. We did book with Disney. We won't have a car so I think we'll go with first floor and near lobby.

Is there a way from the 1st floor rooms out to the boardwalk without stairs?

Yes, you walk out onto the boardwalk near the main pool. On the one end, you can walk out near the bus stop. On the other end, you can walk out near the bridge to the Swan. No steps. The lobby is on the second floor because the driveway goes uphill and the entrance is on the second floor.

I was there last weekend and stayed club level. The Lounge was crowded during the morning rush. Some people had to sit on the couch but everyone that came in had a seat. We also had s cottage (were upgraded). So the walk was involved to the lounge. It was either 4 flights of stairs, which weren't bad actually or stairs, an elevator and long hallway walk. All and all it was fine and we LOVED the cottage. We didn't go to the lounge as much as we otherwise would have if we were one floor or the same floor as the lounge.
Were you already booked for a standard CL room and got switched to the garden rooms or were you booked non club level and got upgraded to the garden rooms and CL? I am always afraid of being "upgraded" to the garden rooms because it is just my husband and I when we stay BWI CL. It seems to happen a lot but I would have no interest in switching and hope we could decline the "upgrade" if it ever happens. I hope you had a great trip and could maybe give us a mini BWI report.

Thank you! That is how I thought it was. That would be perfect if we could get it

I'm happy to answer any questions. We were standard CL and were upgraded to the cottage. I love it. But I understand you not wanting it. You can always turn down the upgrade. I would put in your room request to IPO that you don't want a cottage if that's the case.

I have Celiac and this club level did amazing things to give me some gluten free choices. One was a caprese salad during appetizers. It was ridiculously huge. And then I got Mickey waffles in the morning. And that order was huge too!

Most of the employees in the lounge were great.

I doubt the boat horns will be an issue since they don't typically sound the horns on the canal. Further, the Community Center on the DVC side and the restroom building on the themed side are major buffers in the off event the boat would need to sound its horn.

Hello! Just checking in to introduce myself as a first time to the BWV, but this will be our 16th trip to Disney! We finally bit the bullet to DVC in 2012. I really need some assistance from the BWV experts on a room request. We will be in a preferred studio and I love a pool view. However, I am a very, very light sleeper. Last year we had a bad experience with our lake view at the Poly because of those damn boat horns. I do not want to relive that experience. Please help and thank you!

I can't ever remember the boats sounding their horns, except for when they make the turn toward Hollywood studios by the Swan/Dolphin. I'm also a fairly light sleeper. We almost always book a boardwalk view and I've never been bothered by the noise from the boardwalk below.

My trip next October is finalized. I was on with MS this morning, doing my daily switch from pool/garden view to boardwalk view. I couldn't get the 20th and was working on the 21st, when the CM suddenly said that the 20th just opened up and she would be able to get me the whole week in a boardwalk view. I just love MS. They really do try to accommodate you as much as possible. Meanwhile, we're three weeks away from our next stay at BWV. Can't wait.

Awesome! Woo hoo!

So my BWI stay next month is no more, we were offered the chance to do GF CL again. I won't lie and say I am confident I made the perfect decision, but I will say I believe in Disney magic and I was promised a magical trip to make up for a not-so-magical trip a few weeks ago :)

Terrific news on the October trip. Even better news on 3 weeks to go. It is 28 degrees here this morning and I'm contemplating loading up the SUV and drive the family to Florida and just find a parking lot to sleep in. Way too cold for me. :lmao:

We've been lucky here in NY. Today is the first really cold day this fall, but it's supposed to get warmer as we approach Thanksgiving. I'm going that bodes well for Orlando, as it was unseasonably child when we went the same time last year.

After almost an hour on the phone with the IPO office and reservations I can tell you all that I know almost less now then I did before. For anyone who didn't read my above posts I noticed a few days ago that the BWI CL now has a different price structure for views and not just a standard view with a set price. This option was not available when I booked so I sent an e-mail last week asking what view was I receiving. After getting no response(other than the we received your e-mail response) I called the BWI IPO. She was very polite and after looking it up she saw that yes they had changed things and that I had a standard view reserved. I said yes that the was the only option that I had when I booked. After another lengthy hold I was told that if they had a boardwalk available when I checked in they would upgrade me to boardwalk view. When I told her the boardwalk view shows no availability she said that unless they had a cancelation I would get a standard view. When I asked if that meant a garden or pool view she said yes.

The problem with all this is when they changed bookings they lowered the standard view price slightly and increased the "new" boardwalk view by $100 per night. When I asked if I would get a refund if I received a garden view I was told no and since I had booked with the spring discount I was still receiving a discount rate, just not as much as I had originally. Then I was sent to reservations.

A very polite man then told me that the BWI didn't have a different rate for different views and wanted to know where I had gotten that mistaken info. from. I told him it came from Disney's booking page. He said they didn't have that info yet and that I had a standard reservation and that I could request a boardwalk view on arrival. When I said don't you mean at least 5 days in advance and he said that he had worked at a CL for years and that CL rooms are always given out at arrival not ahead of time. So he recommended I get there early and see if I could get a requested boardwalk room. In all my Disney CL stays and years here on this board that was a new one to me.

Now you know why I am just as confused as before I called!:) If anyone is at the BWI CL in the next 2 months please ask for me how they are handling this.

We just returned from our first stay at BWI and I have a few questions. First does BW not do towel animals, our maid didn't do them, or all resorts have stopped them? Also when we were waiting on Magical express on Wednesday a limo pulled up and we thought they were waiting on a wedding party that took place earlier but then a well dressed CM came out with a photographer, they opened the door and a mom and daughter came out. The CM said this is going to be your papperazzi and I felt like they were there for the girl who was probably 10. My DD kept saying I don't think she is from Disney channel but she is 25 so she probably doesn't watch everything. Does anyone know who they might be? Last, and not complaining, usually when we arrive off of ME a CM meets us and escorts us to check in, is BW so big or busy that they don't do this or has it stopped all together. Like I said not complaining just curious.

Our past 2 trips were towel animal-less and not just at BWI. The last time we got one was at POP in 2011 and it was literally just 1 over 11 days. It used to be something we kinda looked forward to (2008 we received a lot), but now we don't expect it at all. I think they may be extinct :worried:

PS- Sorry, I don't count the mickey head laying on the bed as a "true" towel animal...

All your trips will be animal-less now. They no longer make them. Stopped several months, if not a year, back

How comfortable are the day beds (sofas) in the water view rooms? I'm assuming once pulled out, they are twin size. Is this right?

They sound the horn upon every arrival and departure.
