Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Just returned from the BWI.
They are really stricter with the parking, and I never had a problem finding a spot in the lot near the
convention center especially on the weekend.
It was also nice to see that access to the cast member parking lot across the street near the Speedway is now
gated, and you can only open it if you scan your cast member ID.
There will be a lot of disappointed people (mainly locals) who used this lot to park and go to Food & Wine.
Seeing how they probably have annual passes so that parking at Epcot is free, I guess that will now have to endure the "long walk"
from the front entrance to World Showcase to get to Food & Wine.

Thanks for the update. I am glad to hear this. This was my one minor annoyance when staying at the BWI.

If memory serves there were always gates there but they were always open. My SIL and friends will be sad to hear this. They would "sneak" into F&W using this lot.

I hope your visit to the BWI was a happy one!

Good Morning all, we just got back from a wonderful stay and I wanted to thank you for all your help since this was my family's 1st stay at BWV. I did online check in with request for higher floor, near elevator and early check-in and got all 3 requests!! While still at airport got text room wasn't ready yet, got to the boardwalk was having lunch at the pool and around 12:45 got our magical text
. Room 4060. Was a little concerned about the food options, but everything was great not an inconvenience at all walking to the Boardwalk for food. Navigating the resort was easy too, thought we would be lost, but that wasn't the case. It was hot, hotter than hell as my hubby puts it. But we hit the parks in the a.m., then pool (or nap time for hubby)then back out for the evening. I found crowd levels to be low, except for this past Friday, we went to HS and it felt packed. We tried Garden Grill for the 1st time for breakfast and now a new favorite. Also after several years of begging hubby, we finally played mini golf at Fantasia Gardens. We had a blast, played the Fairways which we were told was the hardest in the U.S. by the CM and I beat hubby and ended with -2 under par
(was told 1st time Tiger Woods played he shot a 76).

Overall had a fabulous trip. Hubby and daughter even thanked me for doing a great job planning this one. We all had lots of fun, laughed a lot and even hubby relaxed, which is magical in itself!! Thank you all for your help/advise and now I can start planning our return in 2 years for our daughter's Sweet 16!!

Caution to people who will be staying at boardwalk for the next month or so. They are remodelling the room where Bell Services stores luggage. On arrival day your bags will be stored inside. But if you have them store your bags on departure day, they will be ouside in a tent, not inside.

Things in my Owners Locker were warm, so i suspect those may be stored outside on arrival day.

If you are having them hold your bags, think about what's in them.

If we want to fax in our own room requests, do we use the fax number listed on page one of this thread? Thanks.

so, do the studios have the nice soaker tubs or just the one/two bedrooms? The pictures make it look like only the one/two bedrooms do, but wanted to check with the experts! :)

Just one bedroom or larger.

They are just standard bath tubs.

Something I noticed today. I put in a room request directly with Disney. (I also have a TP fax set up for the same request.) I looked at online check in today and even though there were drop downs for room requests nothing showed up. This is fine with me, since I have a direct request in to Disney, but it's the first time I've noticed that. (I only wanted to do online check-in since I'll be arriving around 2:30 and I'm hoping to have my room ready, however there's normally a place to check that you prefer your requests vs. room ready and that button wasn't there.) Is this normal for Boardwalk as it's our first time staying here.

No it's not normal. Many people here on the DIS are reporting the same issue for just about every WDW resort. They have been mucking with the request section on and off for the past 2 years and keep screwing it up. It's one of the many reasons I have always called our requests in.

Just a glitch. I had the same on one of our stays (not at BWI) in Oct, though right now I forget which. This is also an issue that seems to come and go. Sometimes I can look on Online Check in and I have no options and others I look and they are back.

Thanks guys! I've never had that happen before and just thought it was odd. I'm not really worried about requests since I called them in, but was curious if it was a common factor. I'm still not 100% sure how online check in impacts requests anyways!

Thanks for asking and all the responses, I popped onto the board because the same thing happened to me today. I had my TA request a king bed, but no way to confirm she put that request in--- other than that are there any suggestions for a standard room once the drop downs reappear? Boardwalk is the only deluxe we haven't stayed at! (not counting villas)

It doesn't. :thumbsup2

I had a cast member on the phone who told me that it messed it up if you do it after 10 days. She told me a story about requesting a room and that her requests online bumped the request on the reservation with DRC. And that's what she does for a job. I don't know if that was an isolated incident, but she said they told her specifically that's what happened. But I always thought it didn't matter. :confused3

Oh, that I can see happening. You asked if doing Online Check In has any affect on room requests, which is doesn't. But if you make room requests during Online Check In and they are not the same as what you phoned in, then yes there will be a problem.
