Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

We flew down for AP SWGE preview and we had a one night booked for BWI - garden view. I looked early in the morning on the view charges in MDE before we got to Orlando to see if we had the $100 charged and it showed taxes and stuff for Club level. I said to my husband that I thought maybe we were upgraded, because I wasn't quite sure what I was reading. I can't remember us ever being upgraded before except for one time when they had to take our unit out of inventory due to a plumbing issue. We were pretty excited.

We arrived and they escorted us to the club level room and had breakfast, but our room wasn't ready. The CM said.. Oh you have a good room. Again we were clueless, smiled and said thank you. We ended up Outer Garden Club level which was 2 story with a balcony upstairs. It was absolutely beautiful. What special gift. We had no issues, I made no requests, and it was there during the night, so it wasn't that they liked our faces. I see people ask how do I get an upgrade and I think it is just luck of the draw. We have been many, many times, never asked for anything we didn't pay for and it was just our time. We felt very blessed.

To use a Star Wars reference, it's a trap! They wanted you to enjoy the room to keep you away from SWGE :duck:

Woo-hoo! Just made our reservations for next Christmas - yep, 2020! haha

Made a water view reservation, adding boardwalk view in the request section. We are not doing concierge this time, so I thought making the reservations this early will give us a good shot at the handful of boardwalk view, non-concierge rooms. First trip with just hubby and me! Switching from our normal break-of-dawn commando touring to our evening-stroll mentality, much more Epcot and Disney Springs focus.

Looking forward to stopping here for all the latest news :chat:

Switched from GF to here in November, 6th-14th to be exact. We're in garden view. What should we expect as far as hotel views and will christmas decorations be up

Doubtful for Christmas decorations. Aside from the Gingerbread house resorts are typically not started till about the time you leave. They work backwards from Thanksgiving and order is determined by lottery

Thank you. This is a first going in November so it’s a new ballgame for us.

Has anyone there now seen any SWGE info yet?

I am seeing reports of flyers in the rooms and sandwich boards in resort lobbies. Just checking if anyone has images of those things.

Hope you have a great trip! Enjoy the rest of your planning :).

We were just in a Garden view in the 5th floor close to the elevator. We could see the Epcot ball and Eiffel Tower. Fireworks from our bed.

We are staying at the BWV during the Jan marathon. On that Sunday, I hear the walking path to HS is closed. Is boat our only option to get to Hollywood Studios and realistically how much time should we allocate if we want to t be there about 30/40 mins before opening?

If you don't want to take the boat, you could pay to take Uber or Lyft or Minnie Van or cab. That gives you more control over your timing.

By January, the Skyliner will be available as another option, one you've already paid for. You would need to walk to Epcot's IG and get on there to travel to DHS.

People have been posting that you will not be able to take the skyliner directly between Epcot and DHS; that you will have to go to... Caribbean Beach, maybe? and transfer there. I don't know if this is true or not.

Sure, but the Skyliner map looks like that is true for everyone who doesn't start their Skyliner journey at CBR.

We were just there. It doesn’t go directly between Epcot and HS. You do need to take it to a hotel and transfer.

For those of you that have been to Jellyrolls- are we better off on a Saturday night or a Sunday night? We want enough crowd that’s it’s fun but not so much it’s overwhelming or hard to get in

Checking in at BWI a week from today! Yay! So excited, but also nervous. We had originally booked our trip with the intention of avoiding the opening of SWGE. Well, that plan flew out the window with the early opening. After my initial freak out over that, I took a breath & thought, well even though it’ll probably be more crowded than we had hoped, it’ll be fine. Then the hurricane is coming and I’ve read a lot of people have canceled their trips & moved them to the next week, which is the week of our vacation. So I’m worried that will add to even more crowds. And I know rationally, it probably won’t be that much of a difference, but it’s hard to be rational when it comes to Disney vacations. So anyone have thoughts on added crowds? Reassurance that I’m being crazy would be nice. 🤪

When you originally head that SWGE was opening early, you may have assumed that meant that the parks/resorts would be close to capacity during your trip. The fact that guests are able to postpone this week's trip into next week mean that the parks probably were not going to be as close to capacity during your trip as you thought when you heard SWGE was going to be opening - there is evidently enough capacity left for people to move their stays. With the addiiton of the hurricane postponed trips, the parks/resorts may now actually be as close to capacity as you feared when you found out SWGE was opening early,

Which is a long way of saying, the parks are probably not going to be any more crowded now during your trip than you initially thought they would be. :)

We just returned from our first stay at BWI that we almost cancelled because they announced the opening of SWGE after we had made our plans. We just decided that it couldn't be worse than Christmas week attendance and decided to go with it. We're very glad we did. Overall, the crowds were not a factor. We avoided DHS on opening day and the day after (We're not SW fans, BTW so we didn't feel we were missing out). We didn't really notice a huge difference in crowds from the same week in previous years. MNSSHP was definitely busier than previous years, but we weren't surprised by that with free dining, SWGE and the offering of a seasonal pass all brought into the mix this year. Don't panic, you should be fine!
