Am I reading the first page correctly? The only standard rooms are Little Mermaid themed?

I was thinking of booking my 13 year old son and I into AoA until I read that. I thought there would be suites and standards among all the themes and was going to request a Nemo room.

Might I suggest booking at Pop Century? It's just a short walk away from Art of Animation (across a bridge) and y'all could walk over and take some fun pictures at Art of Animation one day. Lots of neat things to look at at both resorts.

Yes, I was originally going to book POP but thought a Nemo room would be nice. AoA looks amazing but I'm disappointed Disney made all the standard rooms at AoA geared towards girls. That cuts us off from ever staying there.

Ah well. POP looks cool and as you suggested a walk there would be easy. I just hope the new renos at POP will not take away the table with the new Murphy bed.

Plenty of boys have stayed there and I've read numerous posts over the last few years from families who said their sons (of various ages) didn't mind the decor of the room. My adult son and his wife (no kids) have stayed there and he said he really liked the room and didn't think it was girly.

That being said, if you still don't want to get a Little Mermaid room, I second the suggestion of booking at Pop Century instead. The rooms there are the same size as the LM rooms and they will most likely be less expensive. Then you could walk over to AoA (or take a bus there when heading back from a park) and take a walk around AoA and have a meal there. The resort is gorgeous at night -- especially the Cars section.

I have seen some photos. Personally I like the headboards but I won't book it for just my son and I. That's ok. He will like POP. If he was younger I would splurge the extra $450 and get a pirate room at CBR! We don't mind walking. Instead we will spend the money at the Food and Wine and MVMCP.

The resort at night is a great idea, thanks! I read on another thread a tip about being able to use AoA buses back with a quick walk over the bridge, but I never thought to specifically walk around at night.

I also think Pop would be a good choice. We stayed there last year and really enjoyed it. Now, my friend says her son love All Star Sports. She says they have tried others, but he loves the theming. I thought my son would like it too, so I almost booked it last year, but I decided on POP because it doesn't share buses. Honestly, I think you will have a great time no mater what resort you choose.

The master bath has a shower, no tub. I don't know about the pool bar but someone else will, I'm sure.

Yes, the pool bar is the only place at AoA to get an adult beverage. When we were there in June, they closed at midnight...with no warning. We would have bought another round had we known they were closing. We were sitting at a table just a few feet away from the bar (in the "bar area") so the bartender could have easily told us he was closing and asked if we wanted another round. We were a little disappointed about that, but not enough to complain. I highly recommend the Black Cherry Lemonade.

And as the PP mentioned, the master bathroom has a large walk in shower with a nice rain-style shower head, but no tub. The master bath is quite large. The other bathroom has the standard tub/shower combination. That bathroom is a split bathroom. The tub/shower and toilet are in one "room" and the sink/vanity are outside of that room in an alcove that can be closed off from the main living space by a pocket door.

We are planning a trip with my brother and his family in February and have never stayed at Art of Animation. Would both of our families (myself, my husband, and our 1 year old as well as my brother, sister in law, and their 3 year old) sleep comfortably and have enough space if we shared a family suite?

Was just at AoA for the 1st time this past weekend (9-9 to 9-11-16), we stayed in Building 2 Room 2827 in a Cars Suite. It was a nice place to stay. The only complaint I have was the A/C. With it set at 65° the best it could do at night was 70 and 75 during the day. If we have the chance we would still stay there again. I took my Ricoh Theta 360 camera all over the Cars section, it was too hot out to go past the big pool. The camera actually overheated 2-3 times from being in the sun.

Do you know how far is the Ohana's resturant from AOA, and the best way to go. TY

Ohana's is at the Polynesian resort which is right by Magic Kingdom. The map shows it's 5.9 miles from AoA to the Poly. Can't say the best way, but personally I would drive if you will have a car with you.

Quickest and easiest - Taxi, Uber or drive
Cheapest - Bus to MK then boat or monorail to Poly

Pool question: what is allowed in terms of drinks/snacks? Although there is a pool bar, do you have to remain at the bar or can you sit in your lounge chair and eat/drink as long as you aren't in the water or using glass? And can you bring in your own alcohol, like a beer poured into a plastic cup from your room?
