Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Hi, all. Well I went and changed my reservation to here for the dates of 2/3-2/7. (This is only the 3rd resort change I have had:crazy2:) This is where I was wanting to stay even though I am worried about tour groups venturing over from Pop at times.:scared: Have a Lion King room book. I really wanted the Cars section but my two girls wanted Lion King so I had to take one for the team.

Can someone tell me what a Landscape view is? Is this by chance a view of the themed area courtyards in each section? Or will this just give me a better shot at getting a room looking out that way. Would love a room like that, but not sure if that is what I want to request with on line check in. Will probably check in really late on the 3rd so I am thinking I may just put down a ground floor or fourth floor as my request.

is there any must-eats at this resort?! 19 more days!!

We ate a couple meals there last year while staying for a few days. I enjoyed the make your own pasta. Got Alfredo and it was tasty and the portion size was good too. I don't eat seafood but a couple people had the surf and surf burger and loved it. Those stood out for us although we had nothing bad.

Question about the kitchenette in the suites. I'm used to the similar supplies from our stays on DVC studios, but dues Mousekeeping replenish the paper goods daily?

Yes, daily. I had some paper towels in our Amazon pantry order, and never needed them :)
I think they forgot spoons once, so I called the housekeeping number on the phone and got some really quickly.

Thanks. That's what I figured. Just needed to confirm, since we're not used to daily service.

No one know about the landscape view? Could it be a view of any landscape and not just the courtyards of each building?

I don't know for sure, but I believe the Landscape View would be of the courtyard in the Lion King area -- but I suppose it could be anywhere that you can see grass and shrubs. We had a courtyard view on our trip in June -- but I had only requested to be 4th floor and close to transportation, so I guess we just happened to end up with that view. The last time we stayed in a LK we had made the same requests and had a parking lot view which was fine since we were on the 4th floor and our view was really the top of the trees across the parking lot. Because the windows are so high on the wall of the room, you can only see out of them if you're standing up so I never made a request based on the view.

What about noise? Which rooms seem to be the quietest?

We had a Cars Room. We requested top floor and close to transportation.
We were in the building closest to the lobby and we had a top floor. We faced the parking lot and weren't too close to the elevators.
I think the worst noise is being by the elevators, facing a pool, and being on lower levels where people might be stomping above you.

We've been in a Lion King suite twice (once in each building). Always requested 4th floor and close to transportation. In both cases we were on the top floor at the end of the building closest to animation Hall. We never really had any problem with noise. The only thing *close* to a problem was that when we were in building 10, the suite next to us seemed to be a hangout/lounge for CM's. I honestly have no idea what they were doing in that room -- they weren't overly loud, but CM's were frequently coming and going and the door would slam every time. Fortunately, they only seemed to use that room during the day so we only noticed the noise if we were back in the room in the afternoon for a break. If we had wanted to take a nap, the noise might have been an issue and I would have said something to the front desk about it (or I would have knocked on the door of that suite since it was obvious they were CM's and not other guests). I never heard any noise in that room at night.

I will probably never request first floor because while we make sure not to let the door slam shut behind us when entering the building at the stairway and we only whisper while walking through the hall, a lot of people *don't* use those manners and I've heard a lot of noise in the hallways. I'm thinking it's probably really only an issue on the first floor in the wing closest to the main building since that's the path most people will take to and from the elevators.

I forgot to do my online check in. I just did upper floor, lake view. I always enjoyed the lake view at pop! I prefer upper floors due to less " stomping" noise.

Honestly it doesn't matter much. It's not like the deluxe hotels with balconies. However I am looking forward to our value stay :)

We are looking forward to our value stay the following month too, Trisha. I'm also looking forward to morning coffee on the balcony at the GF and watching the MK, Seven Seas Lagoon and/or Poly come to life each morning for the first part of our split stay.

My husband really wants ground floor. May just have to go with that.
That's what we want too. Well, what I want. I'm not a fan of waiting on elevators. Though they are something folks haven't mentioned, I guess the wait for them isn't bad?

For noise, we sleep in ear plugs so it's not going to bother us anyway.

Even though we have always been on the 4th floor, we usually just used the stairs because our rooms were always right by the staircase. If we wanted to use the elevators, we would have had to walk the length of the wing to get to them and then the length of the wing back to our room (does that make sense????). There were a few times that we'd use the elevators (like when we'd return the room at the end of a full day in the parks or if we took the bus back to Pop Century and were going to walk right past the elevators on the way to our room anyway) and the wait was never more than a few seconds.

Thanks. I have bad knees so stairs are out. Which is another reason I opted for 1st floor. I think I'll leave it where it is
