Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

We just left AofA after having spent three days in a LM room. It's a lovely resort and we will definitely stay there again one day. :goodvibes

I want to bring juice and milk. What size containers fit in the fridges in the suites?

We bought a 1/2 gallon of milk at Landscape of Flavors and had no problem storing that in the fridge in our LK Suite (I'm pretty sure we kept it in the door). I'm sure we could have fit at least one more in there standing upright. I think you can probably fit 2 more half gallons if you lay them on their side and put them on the shelves. Plus you'd still have room for lots of small things. The shelves adjust so you can make optimal use of the space.

Thanks for the info about the fridges! :)

Another question: does the gift shop have ponchos? If so, are they better quality than the "emergency" type? And how much are they ?

Can I ask how much is a half gallon of milk to get there? I was thinking of packing shelf stable horizon, but it'd be so much easier to grab milk there if it's not too pricey.

Half gallons are around $2.99

Not sure if they carry the typical Disney ponchos or not. Disney ponchos are sold in the theme parks for sure and are much nicer than the emergency ones and cost around $7-$8 each.

I was wondering this also. Leaving in 27 days!! My DD will love the LM room but DH and I are secretly hoping for an upgrade. Our Disney Travel Agent called and told them we were celebrating our 10th anniversary and DD's 5th Birthday, hoping that will get us some extra Pixie Dust. Either way we will be happy!!

Yes, don't get your hopes up. We just stayed there (Our anniversary and DS's birthday as well- noted by our travel agent), Little Mermaid was sold out and we did not get an upgrade. No big deal though, we still had a wonderful stay! Such a pretty resort and DS loved all the pools- we swam in every one!

Oh I'm not, we will be thrilled regardless!!!!! Glad you loved it!!

Yes they have them in the gift shops. You might have to ask for them...unless it's raining, then they'll have them out on the counter. I think the adult ones were ~$9 and the child size were about $6 (that was 4 years ago). They are much sturdier than the emergency ponchos that you buy for $1. And if you tear one of the Disney ponchos, they will replace them for free. I've seen some people say they had to show their receipt to get them replaced but we didn't have that experience. We were at Disney in May 2009 and had rain the entire week (we fondly refer to it as "monsoon week" -- but we still had a fabulous time). The best souvenir we bought that week was the Disney rain ponchos on Day 2 of our 8-day vacation. We exchanged at least 3 different ponchos that week and were never asked for a receipt. I use the cheapy ponchos for Kali River rapids or a quick rain shower, but if it's going to rain for several hours or all day, I'll use my Disney poncho.

Wait, I'm confused. If it was sold out and you didn't get an upgrade, did you stay in a LM room?

Hi everyone!
This is my very first post. :ccat:

So ever since Art of Animation has been announced, I knew that one day I'll stay in it.

And alas! The day has come!!
So Since I knew that I wanted to stay at Art of Animation, I've been saving up for a long time. Yesterday, I've decided that after a rough stressful year, I would be celebrating my Birthday at Disney World and staying at Art of Animation.
So I googled around, and your forum seemed like the best place to ask a few questions. So I hope you guys don't mind answeing these questions for me. :D

1) I'm turning 20, but I'll be 19 when I check in, do I pass the minimum age required to get my own room?

2) Do I get any perks since it is my birthday? My best friend wanted to know what he could do, like sending a cake or getting my favorite character to call or something.

3) If I have a Disney Visa (the blue one with the castle), do I get any perks or discounts?

4) I've been to Disney World before, but I have never stayed at a Disney resort, anything I shuold know?

5) What is the best place to book my room and tickets? Is it Disney World's main Website?

6) Do you recommend using their complementary transportation to and from the airport (since im booking my plane through their website), or shuold I book my own seperate shuttle?

7) If I also wanted to Visit Universal Studious, what would be the best method of transportation?

8) I'm blowing pretty much most of the money that I've saved, and it took a while to save it up. Anything I shuold to keep my enjoyment level at max?

Thanks in advance.

I'm so excited. I'm not leaving for 2 months and I've started to plan everything...
I'm so happy!! :simba:
