Disney's Art of Animation Resort (Part II)

Question for those of you who were able to switch your resort from Pop to AoA (LM suite, specifically): how much more did you have to pay?

Just curious because if there ever becomes an opening, I'll definitely snag it but I just don't want to go overbudget for it.

It looks like its $5 a day for my time period. The difference between my ressie for Pop and my ressie for AoA was $30 total for 6 nights. That's an increase from a standard room at Pop.

I am sorry if this has been addressed, but we are booked for a LM room president's week in February. I noticed that the LM rooms seem pretty far from the main building. Is there anyway to request one of the rooms on the nearer side to the main building? I don't care if I don't have the best view so long as I can shorten my walking time.

You can request a certain building but it is not guaranteed. You can call and have it noted on your ressie (or your TA can add it if you booked with one).

Just had to join and say that we are 15 days away from our first visit!!! We we will be staying all 7 nights at AoA in a Nemo room :) super excited !!!!

Excited for you! First time visitor in a brand new resort! Be sure to mention at check in that it's your first visit, usually they have a button for you. If none there, stop at City Hall and they should have one.

Well, I'm excited. I booked my first ever solo trip and I'll be in a LM room. The resort looked so cute, I had to try it, even though I'm a deluxe girl. :dance3:

Thanks!! I'm super excited too!!! I tried keeping the whole trip a surprise but couldn't!! So we've been counting down since 148 days lol!! BUT at that time we planned to stay off site at a reg hotel and the kids have no idea we changed :) I've managed to keep that a secret at least :)

Our TA said we can request a building, floor, etc... (we requested not the ground floor) but nothing is guaranteed. People on Dis have measured it online somehow and it looks like it's 1/4 mile of 5 minutes from LM to the bus stops.

What resorts (besides POP) are near AoA? I was thinking of doing some resort-hopping during my morning run

Caribbean Beach Resort is technically adjacent to Pop Century, but I get the impression that you'd need to have a long run in order to "hop" over there. Otherwise Pop/AoA is pretty much isolated and they aren't set up to be within walking or running distance from anything else.

The LM buildings are numbered 7, 8, and 9. Buildings 7 and 9 will be closer than 8, so I would request either 7 or 9. 7 will have lake-facing rooms if that helps. 9 will be on the parking lot side.

What is that Mickey head shaped thing on top of the sandwich??

I just looked it up because I was curious. It is a green chili omelette. Apparently, that sandwich is for breakfast. It looks yummy!

Planning an April 2013 stay...woooohooo!!!

2 questions...

1. Did they learn a lesson from Pop and put an overhang/shade over the bus queue? We frequently visit in August and bus waiting can be brutal. Never understood why they never extended the overhang they do have near the buses over the queue.

2. Please tell me about refillable mugs. Are they resort specific? Do they have the new chips in them (only fill within a certain time frame, etc).

Thanks everyone!

One more question... Can you walk across the bridge between pop and AoA? My kids would love to visit our old stomping ground!

I was also curious as well, so thanks for posting. I have never requested a specific building before. When should I request? And do I just call & request?

That's awesome!! You will have to let us know what the kids think.
We turned our "First Visit" pins in to fridge magnets when we got back, so we get to see them every day.

Hmm, I would request 7, but would I have to pay extra for the view?
Don't think I could justify that since I'm already paying more and we really are not in the room that often...something to think about.

WOW! Hope you are a marathon runner. Most people have trouble dragging their butts to the coffee station in the morning. Me? I'll be dangling my feet in the pool while reading, but you enjoy that run!

So we are booked in a Nemo suite with FD Sept 22-30. I have been toying with the idea of booking DS8 in a YES program, buying cheaper tickets, and changing to 2 LM rooms (room only). The only problem is the 23rd and 29th are not available right now. I wouldn't mind a split stay with Pop or another resort but not sure how to book that since our 2nd and last night are the 2 that aren't available. I know I can keep checking back and there might be cancellations but I don't really want to cancel our FD res just yet, in case the LM rooms don't open up....any thoughts or suggestions? I think we would save around $500 or so if we make the change...woulda been about $1100 to move to *** but couldn't talk the fam into it!!
