We have had to change from a standard room in values but never to deluxe dining . I would call back and ask to speak to a manager if you have know luck.

I had no problem booking a room at AoA in LM section with my FD code! I'm booked for 8 nights/9 days in November/December. I would call back and speak to another CM or manager!!

So people staying at LM will pay the same price whether they are looking over beautiful Hour Glass Lake and fireworks or looking over a parking lot ? This would be different than all other Disney hotels. :confused3

A CM told me last week that she was able to see the Epcot fireworks from AoA so I quickly added a room request to face the lake. ;)

OK, excuse me if I am being completely stupid here, but I don't get how you can see the fireworks from a lake view room. :confused3 Wouldn't the lake view rooms face away from Epcot?? Sorry if I am being dumb, I just don't get it.........

I'm hoping one of you well informed AoA experts can help me out with a price "issue". ;) There has been a lot of great info shared here and I'm a bit baffled....:confused3

We feel pretty sure our next family trip (after our Disney Dream cruise in 2 weeks :cool1:) will be June 2013. We plan to stay for 7 nights and will hopefully take advantage of the YES program like we did last year - which means we only need a resort only reservation. I decided with all the chatter with ticket prices increasing I'd at least lock in a room at the AoA Little Mermaid section.

I was quoted $1351 (with tax) for the 7 nights in June 2013. I had estimated it to be around $1190 based on the same week at the POP. I can't put in the same week at the LM section since it obviously doesnt open until 9/15. It's about $161 more than the POp compared to this year. I thought they were pretty close in price comparing two standard rooms?? Am I missing something? I even asked the CM if the 2013 prices had kicked in, jokingly, but I know they haven't because I had her quote me POFQ for the same week and it was $1661 for 2013 - which is the same as this year.

Any ideas or thoughts on this? Perhaps I'm missing something obvious? :rotfl: The reason why this is semi important is that we are on the fence between POFQ and LM. For only $300 more for the week we might lean towards POFQ since the next trip would be 3 adults and one child and the extra space and queen beds are heavenly. Like many of you - we love POP and are looking forward to AoA

Sorry so long - I wanted to get all the facts out! :lmao:

Thanks in advance for your thoughts on why such a higher price for LM next year...

Heather

It seems that way. I just booked the LM section yesterday, and requested bldg 7 with a lake view. I hope we get it! :goodvibes

No, I don't think lake view would be fireworks view very well. Depending on where you are at. I wold think the furthest LM rooms would be best for that view.

With the LM rooms being furthest away from the main bldg, and with how little time we are in the room, I personally don't care where I face, and I think I would ask for a room closest to the bldg and busses. When there's really nothing amazing to see like animals outside of your window, I would rather overall convenience.

I am booked at AOA - LM.When it gets a little closer to my dates I will probably call CRO and request a Courtyard/Pool view unless i hear that they do not try to honor requests at AOA. i have learned from previous stays that during busy times not making any special requests and arriving late will get you placed in a room in the least desirable location. Its all really luck of the draw but if CMs try to accomodate others requests then if you don't make a request you have a lower chance of getting the location or view that you wanted. There are no balconies at AOA and im sure thats the reason all rooms are priced the same. I usually have a parking lot view or a woods view in past stays. It would be nice to have a courtyard view to atleast glance out the window at. however it will not put a damper on my trip to get a parking lot view it would just be special to have a view of the pool or courtyard.

Now that i think about it im not sure that any LM rooms will have a view of the lake. I guess it just depends on which side of the buildings the door opens on - COurtyard side? or Lake side? or Parking Lot side? or Courtyard Side? Hmm. THe window will be on the side of the entrance door in LM. In the depictions there appears to be a picture of a lake view in the standard room. If thats the case then there will be lake views and parking lot views and no courtyard views. if this is the case then building 7 makes since for lake views and building 9 makes since for closeness to parking lot and buses. hmm. I guess closeness is most important.

In my experience at values (and even mods), "view" doesn't really matter all too much ultimately since there are no patios or balconies. In order to really see anything out the window (aside from the walkway and railing), you'd have to pull a chair right up to the window and just sit there looking out.

I think I would want proximity to the main building over any kind of "view" at LM.

Already requested ground floor, building 7, nearest to building 6. :thumbsup2

Trust me, having a room looking over the parking lot is preferable than the lake view for the most part. I stayed at POP in January and the first room we were assigned faced the lake and our door was coated in bugs (not lovebugs) that would fly into our room whenever we opened the door. We asked for a room away from the lake and it was bug free.

Agree at POP you want a lake view (50s area) but at AOA it would be opposite to see the fireworks, so not a lake view.

Just called and was told the military room only rate is available for an AoA suite - at least for the August dates I asked about (the military rate ends 9/30). With tax it's about $196/night (Mon. - Thu.) for a suite, which is 30% off rack rate.

I'm trying to help a friend find out some info on the Little Mermaid section at AoA. Hoping someone here might be able to help me!

1. Does anyone know yet how long the walk if from the LM section to the bus stops & food court?

2. If you want to be as close as possible to these areas, what would be the best request to make?

Thank you! :goodvibes

I am thrilled that their will be a drink refill station out by the pool. AWESOME!
Will be disappointed if the tandoori is out before Sept. and am psyched over the choc. chip pancakes. We are not breakfast eaters, but I do one late morning breakfast in bed for my girls and those look yummy.

I think that all of us staying in LM have these requests! :rolleyes1

We DISers are only a fraction of the people staying at LM and all checking in at different times/days. Most people are uninformed and either don't care or don't think ahead to make requests. Shhhhhh, let's not tell them.

I have found in the past as far as requests go, CM's do what they can. It helps if you

1. arrive early in the day
2. are willing to be patient (wait) while they find a room that meets your request.
3. be really nice and understanding with them.

In the past 3 trips we have not been disappointed. Twice they switched our assigned room after arrival, because no record of our request could be found.
:confused3 It all worked out. Heck, we are going to WDW!!!!!

The doors will open on both sides of the building. The buildings are two rooms deep - they butt up to each other with an exterior walkway that goes all the way around. So, building 7 will have lake views and courtyard views. Buildings 8 & 9 will have courtyard/pool views and parking lot veiws.

Does AoA have free wifi?

Yes.

IBelieveInTheMagic - There is a slight price increase between LM rooms at AoA as compared to the other value standard rooms. It was a $70 difference for my week in September so that increase looks about right for your June trip.

Thanks for responding ;)

If I put in 9/22-9/29 at POP I get $885 and it's the very same at LM for the exact dates. I'm thinking I'm going to call tomorrow and just ask why :)

I was hoping other dis'ers could share their experiences as well if they encountered the same issue.

Thanks again,
Heather

I just tried POP and AOA for 9/22-9/29 room only and got $807 for AOA and $767 for POP. That was just 2 adults (I don't know what your party is) and the standard room at POP. Are you looking at the preferred at POP? Could that be why it came up the same??

When I switched from POP to AOA, it was a $46 difference for 9 nights.
