As you all know we are booked for 2 rooms in the LM section for 2 weeks. Did crunch some numbers and called reservations to switch over at least 12 of our days to the Cars suite ( keeping 2 in LM) but nothing is available with the AAA discount except for Lion King.
Just thought I would let you all know that so far the AAA discount on Cars and Nemo is a no go. They woman tried to cheer me up by reminding me it is hurricane season and someone might cancel . lol Works for me ! :)

I hope you get your Cars wing visit. Truthfully though, I'm posting this because I can't believe that the woman tried to cheer you up by 'hoping for hurricane season'. LOL :lmao: :rotfl2: Only top level WDW fans like us would wish for something like that.

I like Lion King but dont care for those rooms. Plus the whole thing was that I had a huge Cars fan. So for now we are sticking with LM and will call back to see if a Cars suite opens up with the discount code later on.

Did the CM say if the AAA discount will eventually be available for those sections or if they will never have a AAA discount? I noticed the new late summer discounts are all reduced percentages so the good ol days are coming to an end I guess.

Part of the reason is that the buildings which will become the Little Mermaid section were built prior to the other sections. Pop Century was intended to have two sections, the classic years (1950's-1990's) and legendary years (1900's-1940's). Pop Century (classic years) was completed just prior to 9/11 and its opening was delayed because of the decrease in visitors to WDW. One section of the legendary years was already under construction and Disney stopped the construction after 9/11. The three buildings that had been completed will become the LM section. The other sections of the resort (suites) were just built.

I think what they meant wasn't about the location of the buildings, but the chosen theme. I too agree that something more gender neutral would have been chosen, such as Finding Nemo, to be used for the only regular rooms.

I am guessing that the AAA discount might have been available in the Cars and Nemo secton , but was just booked up for those sectons leaving LK and LM left only. But I am not 100% certain. I guess I should have asked . I am calling back to check to see if there were any openings I will ask them.

Lol I know right ! I am a native Floridian ( in PA right now though )so I have been through many a hurricane. I love it when everyone cancels . Heck I love Disney in the rain . Its like I have it all to myself ! Cue the seagulls from Nemo . Although.... I imagine her comment would have scared away most visitors.. lol :lmao:

Oh that reminds of 2 years ago when confiding to the reservationist as I was booking the CR that I was not big on heights . He told me he didnt like heights either, but to just tell myself that if I fell I would only fall to the balcony below because of the way the CR was slanted. He said thinking that helped him. I told him with my luck I would bounce !

Walt Disney World has added the new Art of Animation resort to the free Disney Dining promotion that runs from August 25 - September 29, 2012.

• Guests will receive the free Quick Service dining plan.
• Even though the Little Mermaid rooms open September 15, they do not appear to be included (though they could show up at a later time)
• It does not appear that the Art of Animation has been added to the Summer discount at this point.

I will post more info on this as it becomes available.

Someone just started a thread stating that they booked a Little Mermaid room with FD!

Just got off the phone. Right now the free dining at AOA is only for the Lon King suites and a suite at AOA that is non themed ( didnt know they had those!) .

She did say to check back because once the LK rooms are booked up they may add others on later. Fingers crossed !

LM? I had a really great Cm that double checked everything. Makes me want to call back though. She said only LK and non themed suites.

Poking at online reservations @2:45 ET april 4.

So far arrivals on Sept 15 only are showing Little Mermaid rooms with free quick service dining.

Arrivals on other days Sept 16-29 are not showing Little Mermaid rooms.

So at the moment it's either a fluke in their system or it's limited to arrivals on 9/15.

The rooms are all themed. If you try to make a room reservation online, you are given the option of family suite (aka the theme is not specified in advance) or you can pick your theme. I think if you don't specify, you will randomly get one of the buildings/themes. That may be what they were thinking meant non-themed. The CMs in the reservation area do not always have the best info on individual resorts, despite how they try to convince you otherwise. :thumbsup2

We are booked in a cars suite with deluxe dining. I just called and was able to apply the free dining discount (with upgrade to deluxe dinng). It saved us $600.

Ugh we are , but they said LM , Cars , Nemo are not covered.. On phone for 3rd time. Will post what happens.

Okay figured it out.. We are doing the 15th through the 29th.. We discovered that when we get to the 22nd its all booked up. The system wont let him book it. So I could do one week , but not 2. Then I would need 2 reservations and have to check out and then back in. With a service dog and all our stuff that a huge inconvience. Ugh... I didnt even get to cover what dates were out for Cars , but it may be they have that date blocked off for some reason. I am so bummed out right now.

If it is available online, why don't you just book it there and cancel your current reservation.

Its not. When I type in my dates Sept 15th - 29th it only shows Lion King and a general themed room option. Going to go try again though anyway.

EDIT- Yeah I pulled up the LM rooms for the first week and Lion King . But from the 22nd till the 29th only Lion King . I would not have minded doing 2 reservations as much if we could have done 1 cars or nemo and one LM ( or all of one of those) but Lion King just isn't working for us and I would hate checking back out and in again in the LM rooms. I would really hate to have to move from a brand new room in my first week to another one in my second week.

Just have to pray something opens up I guess. As word gets out though I imagine it will only make it harder. :(

OMG, this is wonderful. A CM said there would be NO discounts for AoA for years to come. Just shows ya that there is always Magic going on.

I'm really hoping for LM.

Well, I really hope you can get it, C73. I'm hoping that they will have FD for after Thanksgiving. If they do, we'll be golden.
BTW, C73, I kind of understand your funny CR height story. I'm not afraid of heights, but being from a Fire Department family in a big city in Pa. we never go any higher up than a fire engine's ladders can go! :thumbsup2

Crap...just booked lion King and after looking at pictures os the resort there doesn't seem to be a pool there?!? Is this resort mpthat much larger than ASMusic? If so, I don't think I want to walk to a whole other section to have to swim. My other option was Cars...what do you all think?

I think it would be like staying in the Jazz buildings at ASMu and walking to one of their two pools, it won't be far. AND the area between the Lion King buildings is supposed to be very cool, you'll be seeing the world from young Simba's perspective! We're staying in Nemo this time, but would love to do LK next time. :thumbsup2
