Could be one of the places to stay for our planned trip in June 2013.

Living quarters aint' a problem for me, as long as it's got a door, 4 walls and a roof I don't care.....................oh and a bed.

I'm a little disappointed in the price as well. There will be 6 of us going this time and at my kids age I actually like the three bed options compared to the sleeping chairs. We have three adults and this way my MIL will get a bed and not a sofa bed. She will have to sleep with one of the kids, but they are young and still excited about sleeping with Grandma :lmao:

The only reason I am keeping the suites here an option is because the cost will be split 3 ways.

And kids surprise you - I was showing them the information about the suites on the WDW site and assumed they would want the Cars suite, but they both read that the pool at the Nemo Suites was bigger and that's where they want to stay. Good thing I aske them !

The price has been an issue for me also I keep thinking we could do a Mod at POR for less. I called for the sq footage and the don't have it yet so I used ASMU footage to average the price. My DH aslo pointed out that everything is brand new and they are on beds. We are booked still hoping for a pin code .

Anyone know when The Little Mermaid section will be available for booking? There will only be two of us so we don't need a suite.

Thanks! :thumbsup2
Carla

The resort will open in phases. So the LM section it looks like will be done last.

Sometimes I think I get better info at DIS Boards instead of Disney CM's. I called yesterday and booked for next July at AOA. I asked about the construction situation and the CM said everything is set to open June 1st. I had the choice between Nemo building or picking a family suite. He explained the family suite choice allows Disney to pick which building to put me in between the remaining buildings. Everything I've read here states opposite what he told me. I wish he was right....I'm on the fence about what to do. July 7-11 we're needing to stay cheap with 3 adults and 3 kids. It's not going to be cheap staying at AOA. Fingers crossed a code/pin comes out. History has shown they always do.

The further along the year go's there is more available. If you go to September your choices are Nemo,Cars and then other suite. If you go to Ocotber you get Nemo, Cars,Lion king,Other suite. They have in the past opened resorts in phases. I don't see them doing any diffrent with AOA. I could be wrong but that is my educated guess. LOL

He asked me if I wanted to be in the Lion King building. I wonder how he expected to put me there if it wouldn't be done. But in 2008 I read on DIS about a bridge being closed at WDW and it changed my plans with parade sitting plans. I asked a CM on the phone about it and he said NO they wouldn't be fixing the bridge. Got there and the bridge was being repaired! Gotta love the good info you get on DIS it sure has helped me with my planning!

I really wanted to stay at AOA but with constuction and price I think I need to keep looking. I don't want a cabin, ASMsuite, or off site so I don't have much else to pick from. A deluxe with two rooms is too expensive and so is villa. I'd rent a DVC but I make pmts montly till the last 45 days so I can't do that option either. Ugh! I'd wait till later in the year but we have a conference the rest of the trip so no getting around the dates.

This CM also at first told me I couldn't book for July 2012 yet that prices weren't out yet. Till he checked and found out that wasn't true.

Is the entire resort including The Little Mermaid section supposed to be open on June 1st? If so that is wonderful. I was planning on doing 8 nights beginning June 1st so this would work out perfectly. :goodvibes

Thanks!
Carla

I think the resort is opening in phases. When I checked what the prices would be for 2012, the Cars & Nemo sections were available for booking. I didn't see anything for standard rooms yet. It looks as though that may be the last part to open because they are pushing the suites first.

Need advice from veterans who have seen a resort open in phases at wdw. I called again and this time the cm told me the resort will open in phases to be sure things go smooth. He claims the first date stay is may 12th (i've been told it's suppose to be june 1st by others) and then everything will be done outside however the inside rooms will not. Only certain sections will be open when I'm there in july but the pools and grounds will be fully done. (no construction to be seen by visitors) Is this true? I know Disney does a good job of hiding contruction from the guests but I don't want to stay if there is full construction or some pools not open. Does anyone know any truth to what I was told today by the cm?

I just called and the CM I got knew nothing. I'm thinking the standard rooms will not be open in time for our trip (June 1-9) so I guess I should decide on another resort. Maybe Pop Century and we can go over the bridge and visit the new Art of Animation?
Am I correct in assuming the bridge that connects the two will open up for travel between the resorts?

Carla

I was looking up the prices right now and I have to say they don't seem all that value... even for VALUE season, the suite is $265/night. I looked it up and we could do WL or AKL for $100 more for a standard room. Since we are looking at likely having a party of 5, that just might be the better way to go. I am really, really disappointed because I was very excited about staying here. But I can't justify paying near-deluxe prices for a value room, even if it's a little bigger.

I'm finding the same thing when I price it out. I'd rather pay a little more and have a hot tub and all the other amenities of the nicer resorts. For a 9 night stay, we can go to the Ft. Wilderness Cabins for about $300 more and enjoy a full kitchen, a fun resort, a hot tub, etc. There's probably no way we're staying here :sad2:.

I would like to know that too. I have called and every CM I talked to has a different answer:confused3 . Has anyone found the SQ ft of the room? ASMU is520 sq ft I was wondering if AOA is bigger and that is why it is more?

Unfortunately, this seems to be the norm lately. I'm a TA and call Disney frequently & find that the majority have no idea what they're talking about. Although most of them are very courteous, I do not need to get into arguments about values not having king rooms (they do!) when I call to request it.

When we stayed at AKL, a standard room only slept 4. BC, GF, Poly and CR had 5 in a standard room, but AKL and WL did not. Has that changed?

My daughters were at PC last week, and said the mermaid section across the lake was still untouched from the year before, the new buildings were up but open at parts so you could see through them. I had them send me a photo, but it is a far-off shot, and small. The main building had some colors on it, a rainbow of sorts, in diamond shapes?

When CSR opened I believe it was done in phases. At some point Disney should announce what day the resort officially opens, at least they did that with CR and if I am remembering correctly it was about 6 months prior to the opening date which for CR was Aug, I made reservations and we stayed there opening week as soon as they announced a date. I do not remember seeing construction but I do remember them doing little last minute touch ups on paint and they even changed and put up new doors on the main bldg one afternoon.
