...:scratchin hmmm, wonder how they got out there.....

just subscribing. :) We will be at AKL Savanna view Bunk bed room for Thanksgiving. Any advice as to which area to request?
...you will problably get an Arusha Rock view....there are bunks room located on Zebra Trail, so I'd recommend "Zebra Taril, near elevator" (to go to the elevator, you are actually going in the opposite direction of the lobby, but it'll take you right near the pool area, the laundry room, the arcade, and the Mara)....

We just got back from a great stay at Jambo. Third floor so just a short walk to the lobby and a short walk to the elevator that took us right to the pool and Mara.
Savannah view was awesome, giraffes every day! We had requested connecting rooms and a King bed, which were honored. Rooms were nice size and clean.

One night after the parks my husband and I sat at the bar at Jiko and shared appetizers. Excellent! That macaroni and cheese....yummmmmm!

The bus to and from Disney Springs was sooo long. Others didn't feel as bad, just that one. Next time I'd Uber instead!!! On our way out to parks we never shared with Kidani, but on the way back each day they dropped off Kidani first then Jambo.

Can I ask where your room was (or what you put in your room request)? We're also requesting a king bed and your location sounds perfect! THANKS!

Zebra trail. Requested connecting rooms and a King bed. I didn't request a specific trail but was quite happy with Zebra

 Hello! Happy to find this thread! We last stayed at WL and it is looking like we will be at AKL this time. Early stages of planning so I don't want to jinx it. We were apprehensive about staying here being so far away from MK, however after reading some of this thread we are more excited to stay. Thanks for the thread!

Hello Everyone!

We just rented points for an upcoming visit to WDW world. Our reservation includes 1 night in an AKV Standard View Studio at Jambo House. Since we've rented points I don't really think I can make any special requests until we arrive, but thought I'd make a room request at that time, just in case. I'll be travelling with just my almost 7yr old son.

We'll be coming from a 1/2- 2/3 day at Animal Kingdom (trying not to pack our schedule too much. We plan to take the safari and maybe the Congo River rapids. The rest of our day there will probably just be walking around to see the animals). I'm thinking we'll be back to the Lodge to check in around 3 and he can play in one of the pools (probably Samawati Springs) until just before our dinner reservation at Sanaa at 5:15. After dinner we plan to take in the storytelling campfire and night vision animal viewing at Arusha rock.

I don't mind walking, but I don't want a room that too close to the high traffic areas. I was thinking of requesting something in the nearer ends of 5300 or 5500 blocks, if available. Any other insights or suggestions for us?

We'll be headed back to Magic Kingdom and Bay Lake Tower the next day for the last day/night of our stay, but probably not heading out too early as it will be a second visit to Magic Kingdom that day. If it matters, this is his very first trip and my 5th, but first time staying in anything other than off-site or one night in a value. And we'll have a car.

We paid the last of our bill yesterday, 55 sleeps to go and its still a secret from the kids so proud of myself, lol

Quick question, has anyone ever had any luck with room requests via Touring Plans? I'd like to request bunkbeds and hopefully a partial savannah view. TIA x

Yep, got what I've requested using Touring Plans every single time I have sent a request, sometimes down to the very room number I used as an example. Just be aware that you are able to edit the text from the form on their room request fax page - I find it helpful to leave the room number as an example but spell out exactly what I am looking for. For example, leave room number XXXX but say "or any partial savanna view close to the lobby on Kudu trail" or whatever my specific request was.

Good luck and enjoy! Hope your surprise goes off without a hitch!!

When staying here, they always share...Buses that is...You mentioned when going to parks..The reason being is that it picks up there first than stops in Jambo , where you are, then to the parks.. You noticed it when you went to DS, because it's the reverse with that one. Jambo 1st then off to Kidani...Same when returning from parks & DS, as well.

I'm booked at the AK Lodge Villas (renting DVC points) and until today I assumed we would be in the Kidani Village. Anyway, I went on to customize our Magic Bands and saw we were in the Jambo House.

Not a huge deal either way, but I was curious what the differences are in the two pools? Do either/both have slides, hot tubs? poolside bars, etc? Also, can guests at the Jambo House use the Kidani Village Pool if they prefer?

Thanks!

Another question I had was since both villages have villas, can I expect the same typical shopping options on both sides? Bread, cereal, milk, sandwich meat, frozen meals, etc?

52 Days away from our first stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge!! :yay:

We have always stayed at the Wilderness Lodge ( 7 times ) so we are moving out of our comfort zone due to the Disney dining plan for November 25 - Dec 4 only being available at the Animal Kingdom Lodge this trip.

We have reserved a standard room for the 4 of us and we are wondering if there were any specific rooms we could request in our standard room category that would be more picturesque as opposed to others.

Is there a certain area to request to be closer to the pool or flamingo pond area??

Thank you for such a great Animal Kingdom Lodge information board.

We're now 24 days (17 hours and 56 minutes, but who's counting) away from our first Animal Kingdom stay also!

I didn't make any special requests beyond our Savannah View as we're not too picky about things, I actually selected that we'd rather have the room early than any special request as we're arriving pretty early on the 29th. I assume most if not all of the Savannah View room's will have a good view, just depends on which animals, etc.

Is it crazy I'm mostly looking forward to relaxing at the resort after the parks either at Jiko's bar or Victoria Falls?

I view this as a positive, just my opinion. You will have the Mara accessible to you.
