Another question I had was since both villages have villas, can I expect the same typical shopping options on both sides? Bread, cereal, milk, sandwich meat, frozen meals, etc?
....I'm guessing 'yes', but you can always visit both Jambo and Kidani....

52 Days away from our first stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge!! :yay:

We have always stayed at the Wilderness Lodge ( 7 times ) so we are moving out of our comfort zone due to the Disney dining plan for November 25 - Dec 4 only being available at the Animal Kingdom Lodge this trip.

We have reserved a standard room for the 4 of us and we are wondering if there were any specific rooms we could request in our standard room category that would be more picturesque as opposed to others.

Is there a certain area to request to be closer to the pool or flamingo pond area??

Thank you for such a great Animal Kingdom Lodge information board.
....you re quite welcome....if you love WL (which you obviously do! ;) ) you are definitely going to like AKL, since they were designed by the same architect.

We just made a reservation for the Jiko Wine Tasting, had no idea that it could be booked online. We missed out on it this past January but can't wait to attend on our upcoming trip!

Yes we are anxiously looking forward to our stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge. We have visited it several times on our holiday resort tours to see the Christmas decorations.

This is true. The store in Kidani is definitely smaller but has the things that you need...It is also where they have the refill stations for the Mugs.

Thank you so much for this! I had no idea these existed.

Has anyone done the Starlight Safari? I'm thinking of taking my mother on it and was curious if it is worth the $70? I do like how a portion of the money goes to the Conservation Fund also.

Just thought I'd post again to see if anyone has done the above :)

We did it in July. I thought it was good, very informative.
It lasted about an hour and there was about 10 of us.
Anymore questions just ask.

Thanks for the reply, I may message you some questions when the time gets closer to my trip :)

Hi! We'll be staying at Kidani for the first time next week- I'm super excited, but starting to doubt the pull out sofa. My parents will be using it, so I'm wondering how comfortable it is? They're not picky sleepers (generally ok with anything), but from pictures the mattress looks really thin. I've only ever slept on the Polynesian pull-out which was plenty comfortable for me... will AK be at least that good? (And is the sofa part of the refurb?). Thanks!

Excited our trip is in 6 days staying at Kidani in a deluxe studio room, our first time at AKL, surprising my niece and nephew too the day before we leave!!!

My mother sleeps on the pull out sofa every trip and never complains.

We were going to visit for dinner at Boma and the decorations, but then we switched our reservations so we can just be there the whole time. DD doesn't know - she still thinks we are staying at CSR... it will be fun to surprise her!

We are a little over 50 days away from our short holiday trip! I have lots of questions.

We are staying in a Savannah view with Bunk Bed room. When I did online check in, I requested 'Near the Lobby' - hoping to get a 3rd floor room. Was this a good idea? Should I request anything different? Honestly, I rarely get my requests anyway :)

Also, what is the earliest busses start running in the morning? I am hoping to make it to MK for the Welcome Show and assume this is the longest travel time.

I saw in a previous post that someone described the resort activities that are offered most days. Do children of all ages enjoy this activities? My DD is 5 and I'm debating a park day or a day at the resort since we only have 3 days and probably won't make it back to AKL.

Thanks!

Resort activities are great for kids! DD was 10, but they are fun for all ages. She made a feeder for the giraffes, did African drumming, and started a bracelet with charms you get for completing a variety of these, including animal tracking and decorating cookie at Boma. We spent most of a day there as DD is big animal lover, and between that and watching giraffes and zebras off your balcony, we didn't want to leave! You can check the activity schedule for the month you are going, and decide on some you want to try. Since AK is so close, you could split the day with some park time there.
