Request a partial on the res and again at check in. Can't be guaranteed. However, they are doing this new testing phase of offering you an upgrade (a lot of the time it is bunk bed rooms or pool view). You do have to be eligible for it (so your MMV). If it is not offered to you; then you could always ask. Anyway, the upgrade is usually 40\45 a night.
Would be great to be asked. We would totally pay that, as we are only staying 5 nights. We booked an offer and the only option was standard view. Otherwise full rack rate for the other categories.

I am new to Touring Plans but I think I have managed to locate the absolute dream room for our category and our needs. At what point do you ask Touring Plans to notify AKL of the request ? Is it to early at this stage for a May 2017 arrival ? Any other tips woule be apprecaited. As I say, bunks are almost essential for the kids but any sort of view other than a car park would be fantastic. Thanks folks.
TP automatically sends your request 5 days before. I would suggest waiting until closer to your date to put your request since new comments/info could be added. You can always start your request and modify it closer to your trip.

Here now and need some help. Has anyone been able to successfully bypass the motion sensor A/C units at Jambo house. My fiancé and I keep waking up sweating and I can't get the bypass to work. Also no balloons allowed so not an option here. This is the unit in our room.

I totally get being energy efficient but 77 at night is way too hot for us.
Have you asked them to make it cooler?

It is cool while we are up and in the room it just shuts off if there is no movement. If it is still doing it tonight I'lol call and say it is getting uncomfortable overnight. Last night really was the first big issue the other nights it was fine.

Is there a place I can find the room numbers of the DVC Club Level deluxe studios?

Touring Plans website has it. On their website, search "hotel maps animal kingdom" and click on the one with a map as the icon. The first link on that page is for a room finder.

Very excited for my family trip to AKL this December! We have a Savannah view room currently booked with 3 people. We might add a 4th person for 2 nights depending on if he can get off work. The Disney phone rep I booked my trip with suggested we leave him off the reservation and check him in at the front desk once he arrives (and pay the extra $$/night) if he is able to come.

However, I'm a little concerned about the room we could get. Could we possibly get a room with a king bed and a daybed/sofa if we only book a reservation for 3 guests? If I call back and increase our party to 4 guests the entire time to be on the safe side, are we guaranteed either 2 queen beds or 1 queen/king and bunk beds? I'm unfamiliar with the room layouts at AKL, so any advice is welcome!

We will only be at AKL for a day, we will arrive sometime between noon and 2, and will have the day and beginning of the next day to explore AKL. My kids are 8 and 11, what do you recommend as far as activities for us to look into?

If you are there by 1 there is cookie decorating, 2 African face painting or wildlife games, 330 cake decorating(kidani)and 430 music (drums), 630 folktales, 8 drumming parade at Jambo and then night vision goggles. You can always do medallion rubbing at Jambo (ask front desk for paper and crayon packets).

The next morning I would def do the flamingos activity over by the pool 9-930a, then animal tracking at 10 and 11:30 animal enrichment (dependent on what day you are talking about, but this is super cool).

If none of that works you can always go play at community hall and poolside activities.

This is so helpful - thank you for listing. Is there an extra charge for any of these activities?

I wonder if they will have any of their studios available at a discount in early 2017? If so, and you book one, what type of view can you generally get if you were to go with a standard view?

Can anyone confirm that a twin air mattress will fit in a studio at Jambo? Thank you!

If you are referring to a DVC studio, I would say no. We had the sofa bed pulled out and could just barely fit my DDs pack n play in between the regaular bed and sofa bed. There really is no room to put a twin mattress with the sofa bed pulled out.

Yes, DVC Studio- thanks so much for the info!

If staying at Jambo, how often in the morning are the buses full to the parks?

Two more days, yay! We have a 8pm dinner reservation at Sanaa next week. Do they still have a shuttle back to Jambo? How often does it run?

We rode it a few months ago - the driver was just there waiting by the van when we happened to need a ride, so I am sorry that I don't know how often they run. I suspect that if you wait more than a few minutes you could ask a nearby CM to call for one. I don't know if your family struggles with mobility challenges but if not, the walk is also not too bad back to Jambo. If the weather cools off by the time you finish dining that evening, you might enjoy the walk! There is also a way to use the bus system, parks buses travel one direction and the Springs bus travels the other (as in one starts at Jambo and one starts at Kidani) so make sure you ask a CM if you need a lift!
