Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE Information & Questions

Alright I have a question and I feel slightly silly asking it... And I apologize if it is a stupid question. My fiance had DVC and recently sold it. AKL was his home resort and where we usually stayed which was obviously Kidani. Well we booked AKL for our upcoming honeymoon in October through the Disney site and it was just listed as that... Animal Kingdom Lodge. Does this mean we will be at Jambo? Because when booking there was the option to book at AKL, AKL- Jambo, and AKL- Kidani. The regular AKL was the cheapest route so we did that but Im confused.... any help would be appreciated. And again sorry if its a stupid question... Maybe Im just over thinking it?!?

On the disney site, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge = hotel rooms. Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House = DVC units for cash reservations at Jambo House. Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village = DVC units for cash reservations at Kidani Village.

No question is stupid question. :-)

Oh that makes sense! Thank you!

....apparently, you've never read any of MY doozies, have you??!?!? :lmao:

I am so excited! I just booked a 1-bd Kidani for the end of November. I got the 20% off deal. The inventory was super limited and was only available for Standard View. I have stayed in Jambo a few times, and I remember there being a ton of places to view the animals, even when not in a savannah room. Does Kidani also offer balconies in different areas for public viewings? Thanks!

I don't know the answer about the balconies but I do know that we had a nice view from a 1 bedroom standard view in April this year at Kidani.

This was room 7939, standard view one BR.

That's gorgeous! I thought standard = definite parking lot! I have Touring Plans and can make a room request fax. This room is a winner! Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures. I really appreciate it.

Not always... I also scored a value room in Jambo & it was a perfect spot on Giraffe trail facing the Pool...Sorry don't have a pic though.

GF and I finally ordered our APs.

We're staying 11/13-11/19 this year at Kidani.

Now having APs we're so tempted to just drive down from NJ right now even though we're going down in a little over 3 months.

Changed our ressies to save a little $$ and hopefully hit DL in January 2017 for our 10 year anniversary :) Also have a girls trip planned in February 2017 for the Princess 5k.

Originally booked 11/26 - 12/3 in standard room at Jambo, but are now doing a split stay. Will be at All Star Movies 11/26 - 11/30 and in a Studio Villa at Jambo 11/30 - 12/3.

Still crazy excited, first deluxe stay and this is a surprise trip for our kiddos...the split stay will just be another layer of surprise! 110 days!

I will be staying at AKL this fall for the first time and I'm pretty excited! I usually stay at POFQ. I booked a standard room at AKL and it will cost me about $500 more than a standard room at POFQ. I'm hoping that I won't love AKL too much otherwise I'll want to stay there every trip! I even feel a bit guilty about staying there this year, but I figured I could check it out at least ONCE. :)

That's what Dis friends are for! I believe on my touring plans room request I referenced a room number (picked out a standard I thought would be a partial savanna based on the "view from room" function) but edited it to add "any partial savanna view" just in case they wanted to bump me into a category up... They did not but I was still over the moon with the villa I got! The long balcony was just perfect.

I didn't know you could type in something like that. I have only requested specific rooms with TP so far! I'll see if I can add something like that also. They are of course welcome to bump me up in category too....but yeah, not holding my breath over the Thanksgiving Holiday! :)

Does anybody know if you can be checked into 2 Disney hotels at the same time? Right now we are staying one night at AKL SV(our first stay :yay:) and we would like to add a night but we are not able to add another day so we would have to overlap our last night on our package.

From my experience, I have had to check out of one reservation completely before I was able to check-in for the other. This was at 2 different WDW resorts several times, but one time it was at AKL, changing room categories.

Thank you, that is what I thought but just wanted confirmation.

Uhm...:scratchin

Be forewarned......It's already too late. LoL

But be prepared to be WoW'ed & totally immersed in your vacation, because AKV/L has a way of doing that to ya.:thumbsup2

I was very worried before our first stay at AKL Jambo. We were blown away when we went to our balcony and there was a giraffe. We bought DVC when we stayed at Kidani. Staying at Kidani again next month and we are thrilled.

we just came back from a 5 night stay at AKL Jambo house. We paid for a Standard view room, requested for a room with bunk bed. Got exactly what we wanted. Room number was 4230 on Kudu trail. Going to Mara is a bit of walk but I don't mind. The 4th floor location was quiet and away from the foot traffic. The room has a partial Savanna view (with the people pen). We could see various animals. My kids got excited to see giraffe at first but then lost the interest after the first day... :confused3 Sound-proofing was very good too. I could hardly hear any noises from the adjacent room, not even from people passing through my room... CMs at AKL were very friendly, especially CMs at the Mara. My mattress was very comfortable. My kids love the bunk bed.

The laundry room is clean. Laundry costs $3 for each wash and dryer costs $3 for each cycle. Laundry was 34 minutes and dryer was 60 minutes. The machines only took credit/debit. I have heard of a website that I could log in to monitor the machines. However I couldn't find one at AKL. Maybe I missed it.
AKL is a very beautiful and charming resort. HOWEVER, the sound of the drum at night (9pm) coming from Boma/Jiko area bothered me towards the end of the trip. The sound of the beating drum was the last thing that I want to hear at the end of the day upon walking into the front door of AKL.

About the in-wall safe, it could fit my 15" Macbook plus two iPads.

I tried the Zebra Domes for the first time and it would be my last time.

I am so excited to hear this! We are staying at AKL in March and we have a standard view room. I wanted to do 1 of the views that had the bunks on it, but my hubby couldn't see paying the extra $1000 just to have bunks. Specially since under the standard view explanation it says you can have either 2 queens, bunks, or a king bed. My husband said for the difference in price he wanted to just chance the bunks and keep our fingers crossed that we get them. I already called to put it on our reservation that I want to request them and then I heard also that the new online check in now has it on there that you can request bunks so I am going to do that as well and I am also going to call 10 days before check in just to make sure its on my reservation...I also have to call 10 days before so they note that I am traveling with kids with allergies and they have to use the anti allergenic cleaning stuff for our rooms anyways. I am just glad to hear that this worked out for someone else. I am not one that likes to leave things up to fate/chance. Thats 1 way me and my hubby are different, lol...I would pay the extra money to be garenteed that we have the bunks, lol...my youngest would flip to see the giraffes outside his window, LOL...he LOVES giraffes I don't know if I could get him off the balcony if he saw that
