I just don't want to buy one and waste money if they have one on the wall .they are like 40 bucks. I don't use them at home because I have permanent ones in the bathtoom

I will be there on Tuesday and will see my room, but if all are different that may not make a difference. I have a CL savannah room. If I forget, remind me and I'll see what I can find out, anytime from Tues to Sat. in the coming week. Just quote and remind me and I'll see it on my alerts. Not sure if front desk can help, but I don't mind asking. But I am forgetful, so do remind :)

Question about the Laundry facility at Jambo house (non club level)

1. Does it take credit cards?
2. Can I purchase laundry detergents on site or do I need to bring it myself?? If I need to bring it, what type of machines are the washer, HE or regular??

TIA!

We were DVC, so didn't pay for washer/dryer, but our laundry room did have the detergent machine. It had a credit card slot. It was either $1 or $2 for a little box that I think had both a dryer sheet and detergent. I just bought a little bag of laundry packets and brought with us.

please someone answer me , we are staying in a savannah room and im trying to find out of the shower has a handicapped bar.
I'm 99% sure our room did NOT have any type of bar in the bath tub. I'm going to look at our pics to see if we got one of the bathroom (kind of doubtful).

I won't be there until end of September to check out the tub and room situation for you but would be happy to report back if you are going after that. We are going with a King because its just the two of us (well three with my preggo belly) and we only need one bed so we want the biggest one possible. I think it would have more floor space as one king does not equal two queens, in our past trips we find that with most hotels so the extra floor room is nice to be able to lay out luggage if necessary. They mention a pull out couch so for us that will stay closed all the time. I know some families report moving some small furniture (like the table and chairs) out of the way a bit to give themselves more room to move around. The first post says a standard is 344 sq feet which to me looks like a good size but then again who knows how big the furniture is and how much sq feet that eats up.

I was somewhat confused when booking too looking at photos, I looked at other resorts that had more specific types of rooms and the photos were much more precise than what I got for a this resort for some reason as they focus a lot of the grounds and lobby.

Hey all...just did our online check in for our trip and have a question as a AKL 1st timer....

In the special req pop up, there was a check box option for "Kudu Trail View" but no other wings of the resort. Is there something special about this area? Seems odd they would have this as the only trail view to request. Any insight would be great.

We will be in a DVC studio if that matters.

Two + years ago your choices included Kudu or Zebra trail. In the last year or so Zebra dropped off as a choice. Assuming you are in a standard or savanna view villa in Jambo (not a value villa) you will be on either Kudu or Zebra trail on the 5th floor.
Zebra - same side of resort as the quick service restaurant and access to the pool. Savanna views on Zebra trail face Arusha savanna (the middle savanna) or Uzima savanna (the savanna visible from the pool overlooks.) If you have a standard view booked your balcony will face the pool or you'll have a less desirable savanna view (like one overlooking a people pen.)
Kudu - a bit of a walk to get to Mara & the pool. All villas face a savanna either Arusha or Sunset (the savanna between Jambo and the all DVC building - Kidani.) If you are booked standard view and really want to see a savanna from your balcony and don't mind a few extra steps to QS or the pool choose Kudu because you'll get at least a partial savanna view w/ Kudu trail. If you are a big zebra fan choose Kudu because Sunset savanna has the zebra herd whereas the other savannas usually only have 2 zebras apiece.

Sorry didn't read all the replies but we are staying in a standard room at AKL in September and the rest of our party is in a two bedroom savanna room at the DVC part of AKL. Realistically how far apart are the two portions of the hotel?

Thanks for the detailed reply...we are booked in a Jambo house, savanna view (sorry I left that part out), DVC studio

my daughter is a huge giraffe fan, so seeing them would be most important. Is there a preferred section for viewing the most of those?

and lol...what is a 'people pen'?

All 3 savannas have giraffes, so no one savanna is better for giraffes than another. The giraffes tend to lope around in a loose group so they'll be at different places during the day/evening. The trucks come by during the day and put out high browse for them in the trees and you'll see them feeding at those browsing stations. In Dec. we saw the giraffes on Arusha (including Gordon who's picture is my avatar - pix taken on a Wanyama Safari) when they came by the small pond in front of our villa to drink in the evenings and if we happened to be in the villa late mornings when the animals left their barn after their daily checks. Check at various times of the day & you'll see them wander by.
A 'people pen' is a small round dirt area surrounded by a natural looking fence. They were added after AKL was built at the fire dept.s insistence so that in the event of an evacuation the people could exit to a savanna and be separated from the animals. They are on Uzima and Sunset savannas but not Arusha and don't look that bad, but people complained when their villas overlooked them so some villas were reclassified from savanna view to standard view.

Are they at Jambo (some DVC rooms) or Kidani (all DVC rooms)? If at Jambo, you'll be in the same building. You can possibly be on the same wing of the hotel, just different floors. If at Kidani, it's about a 10 minute walk or you can take the shuttle van.

They are at Kidani and we are at Jambo. I wish they had done Jambo but I don't think they knew that was an option through DVC.

I am booked at the Beach Club for February 1st-5th with an amazing rate. But I am really hoping that I will get a UOC for this time frame or that Disney will release a really good discount for this time frame. I would need at least a 25% off code to come close to the price I have at the Beach Club. Maybe it will happen for me, but if not, I know the Beach Club will be awesome!

I was just able to switch my resort only reservation from the Stay in the Middle of the Magic Rate to the Florida Resident Great Rate and saved $72! It took about two minutes online. I'll take it!

I have a photo of Gordon from June 2014 as the wallpaper on my work phone so there were many squeals of excitement to see your more recent photo!

Does anyone know if the gift shop at animal kingdom lodge sells cases of water? I am trying to decide if I am better to see if the gift shop has it or order a case for $9 when I rent my stroller. TIA!
