Thanks! That really doesn't sound like much. We're going to be on a 2 week trip...I'm going to have to do laundry a couple times!

Anyone who has used them in the past - do you usually find you can do laundry without trouble?

I know there is another coin laundry that is non-DVC, but I'm not sure how many machines they have

Are you an early riser? That's the perfect time to do laundry! (early morning or late at night!) The DVC laundry room requires your magic band to enter. It's on 5th floor, Zebra Trail, just off the lobby.

Kidani has laundry facilities, but I can't say how many machines or even where they're located.

The 1- and 2-bedrooms all have machines in the villas. I really miss that when I stay in a studio!

Just as an FYI... There are 3 spots in Jambo I believe... 1 on the Ground level I believe its called Simbas cubhouse. To the right of The Mara..

I believe there's also one down the left wing of Kudu trail too.... both of these are the pay ones, with like 18 machines total in each....I think 6 washers & 12 dryers..Something like that....And then the DVC one on 5th floor that was stated earlier.

Kidani only has the one on the main level...Just past the lobby down the right hallway..Across from Community Hall..... I'm pretty sure that there are 3 washers and 5 or 6 dryers there....

Is this a DVC? (I.E free?)

Yes, thank you so much!
Kidani one is...Yes.... and also the one on the 5th floor in Jambo....( I didn't even find that out until 2 or 3 days left in our trip ) and it was oo much closer to our room..LoL

This has probably been asked and answered before, but do you have to go outside to get to the Mara? Is there no way to access it from inside the building?

Not from inside no, but as you walk outside * ( between the entrances of JIKO & Boma ) you are underneath a covered pathway. * (in case of rain )

We will be at AKL 4/3, flying into MCO 12:55 arrival. I was able to snag a 4:35 BOG dinner reservation. Do you think we will make it in time? Taking the magical express to AKL then the bus to MK.

It would be a major rush and often stressful when you're trying to take in everything and the grandeur of Animal Kingdom Lodge. Let's say you get on ME quickly...They say it's a 70 minute ride with 3 stops. If you can check into room quickly assuming no line, rush to your room or drop your luggage at the desk and a 20-30 minute bus to MK. I think it's doable if nothing is delayed. If this is your first time I'd say pass :( but if you're familiar I'd say you could do it. We did this exact scenario with garden grill at 4:30 on our very first trip (to AKL) and we were like the McCallisters from home alone running to their gate! Crazy! Sorry so long winded!

As a family of 6, I'm considering a 1-bedroom suite. I thought those only had one bathroom but I looked at a floor plan this morning and it looks like there's also a 1/2 bath? Is that right? Also, in the pictures of the 1-bedroom suite on Disney's website, I see a microwave. Is that accurate as well?

I didn't realize how long the Magical Express ride is! Do you think its easier to hop a cab or Uber to the hotel? Thank you so much BTW, your response was extremely helpful! :)

We have done town car, ME, and rental car. UberBlack is the only Uber that can pickup at MCO. ME is definitely the easiest. - relax and enjoy the ride, comfy bus, videos on for the kids, they handle the luggage and the price is already included. By easy, I mean least complicated and cheap. Not fastest.

Town Car or Uber is probably fastest. Rental car is cheapest for more than 2 people and most flexible (make a stop at DS or grocery or a park on your way to WDW).

You should read up on ME on the Transportation Board. There are considerations for how to pack your carry-on and the potential LONG wait for your luggage to consider as well. If you understand what ME is and is NOT, it is a great service. If you use it with it's limitations in mind and don't over-schedule you will have a very relaxing arrival at AKL and WDW.

This is a totally random question for AKL experts. Does anyone have any idea where at the resort this photo was taken?

Could I be added to the upcoming stay list? October 4-8th. We'll be at the Poly from September 30-October 4th.

How are the hair dryers at AKL? We are doing a Disney Cruise in May and they say don't bother bringing a hair dryer because the ones on the ship are great, but we are doing 2 nights at AKL first. We have only ever stayed at value resorts and the hair dryers in the rooms are terrible! Are the ones here any better? Or should I bring my own?

They have the Conair 1875 watt-type hair dryers. Not the best, but better than the wall-mounted ones of years past! :thumbsup2

We are staying at AKL In November in a savannah room. My kids will be 5 and 3 and it is their first trip. We are very excited!
