Will be staying there this Wednesday.
Are there any good pizza places that deliver right to the resort ???
Thanks !!!!

We ordered from Giordano's. Their pizza (Chicago deep dish) takes a little longer to bake so we actually ordered while in line for Test Track and beat the pizza guy to the hotel by about 5 minutes (we drove to Epcot).

Never had Giordano's. Did you enjoy it? Was it hot upon arrival? Did you call the one on Vineland Ave.? Thanks :)

I ordered online from the W. Irlo Bronson location (it's less than 10 minutes from AKL): https://giordanos.com/locations/kissimmee-celebration/

I've never had a bad pizza from them. This was the first time I ordered for delivery (we usually go to the actual restaurant) and the pizza was still hot when we got back to our room.

Are the Bunk Beds appropriate for adults? Are they sturdy and comfortable? Do they have a weight limit or anything for the top bunk?

Any pictures of actual refurbished villa rooms in Jambo House? We are staying in a value studio in May, and would love to see what they look like from someon who has stayed in one. :flower3:
...you might want to ask DizDaD7, since he has stayed in a value studio at Jambo...

Yes, refurbished. I would have thought that someone would have posted a picture of a refurbished room (I'd take any type room) by now. :-)

Is AKL a relaxing resort to spend my vacation???

I currently have a reservation for POR. Then DH suggests that we should spend $600 more for a bunk bed room at AKL. I have never stayed at these places.
Pictures of POR look so serene and relaxing which is what I need at this vacation.
Pictures of AKL look loud and busy and remind me of Great Wolf Lodge in PA, except for the savanna view which we will not have. The bunk bed room will have a pool view.
But I know my kids (8 and 4) will get a better sleep in bunk bed instead of sharing a bed through out our 5 nights stay.

Please help me make a decision!!!

We find it very relaxing! The animal viewing areas are great. Rocking chairs by the fire pit, large pools, expansive grounds. The lobby in the lodge is sometimes loud with beating drums, but there's always nice music playing. We once had a bunk bed room-CL, which is a Savannah view, but changed because there was only two of us. I have heard there are very few bunk bed rooms.

It depends on how much time you plan on spending at the resort. If you plan on having a pool/resort day or 2 or will be spending a good amount of time at the resort to rest or do some of the activities they have, I would absolutely splurge for the bunk bed room at AKL. If you are more of the out-of-the-room-and-in-the-parks-all-day kind of people, stick with POR since you won't be taking advantage of what the resort has to offer.

AKL is a very relaxing and beautiful resort. Sitting out on the balcony or any of the viewing spots around the resort can make you feel like you are a million miles away from Disney and everything else. It's nice to be able to switch back and forth from the hustle and bustle of WDW to the pure serenity that is AKL.

My plan is to go out in the morning, come back to resort after lunch (early lunch) then go to the park around dinner time and leave the park around 9-930pm.. So far that's the plan. I don't plan to spend more time in the park than that.

It sounds like you plan on spending a few hours during the day at the resort. If that's the case, I would go with AKL. The main pool is larger and more spread out with more places to sit (although POR does have a pool in AB and I think 2 quiet pools in MB, to go along with the main pool on Ol' Man Island) and there are a lot of places to just sit and relax around the resort (including your balcony to sit in peace and quiet, which POR doesn't have). Also, the Mara, which is the CS location at AKL has some really good dishes for lunch (although, the Mill at POR is probably one of the best CS locations on property due to its variety).

POR is our go to Mod Resort, so you really can't go wrong either way. However, because you are spending a good amount of time each day at the resort, I would go with AKL for the extra bit of relaxation that POR doesn't provide.

I was in your exact position when we did our first trip. Had POR (FQ) booked, but in the back of my mind, I knew I really wanted AKL. When a discount came out, the price difference was so small (less than a hundred bucks to change to AKL for a 7 day trip), that I went for it. Never once regretted it.

Trust me, the ambience of AKL is nothing like that of Great Wolf Lodge. (Thank goodness-not a fan of that place at all!) Although there is, as PPs have described, some ambient noise at certain times of day, mostly coinciding with kids' activities, it's really very relaxing. One of the things I love most about AKL is that it is so chill and relaxed after a day in the parks.

That's the "Culinary tour" which is usually offered daily at Jambo. Even if it's not listed on the Daily Activities board, it may still be offered that day! No need to sign up in advance. Go to the Boma podium at 3:45pm. The tour includes a walk-through of Boma, with descriptions of the foods available at each of the pods - very helpful for those who have never eaten dinner there! Normally (and I say that because it can vary based on how pressed they are for time), but normally you will get a sample of one of their soups, followed by a Zebra Dome!

Then it's over to Jiko where the tour continues. If time allows, they will serve a sample of their bread service and dips. It's totally worth checking out, even without the samples! :thumbsup2

Is it free and are kids welcome? Thanks :)

What, exactly, is a zebra dome?

Heaven...that's what it is!

While good and worth trying, I personally don't think they deserve the hype they get, but I will say the cold ones in the fridge at The Mara are better than the ones that have been sitting out at Boma.

I love them cold better, too. Not as jiggly...

We own at and have stayed at AKL many times. Didn't know about the Smores or the movies! Where are they located, how do you find out the times. And, do they provide the ingredients for Smores or do you need your own? Thank you!

When we did the Smores a few years ago, they supplied everything. It was super good! Arrival night and it was a great way to kick of the vacation..
