Gotcha, thanks. I hadn't thought about that, to be honest. Wondering if I should contact the owner we rented points from. Our Nov. stay at BWV (which was our 4th time there) was NOT........."magical" lol, and DH will NOT be thrilled if this refurb disturbs us :scratchin

Is your cousin DVC or did she rent points? Thanks :)

She is DVC and going mid Jan and I rented her extra points for my feb trip

I have been through 2 soft furnishing remodels. Once at the French Quarter and once at the Poly neither time was it good experience. Twice we came back to our room at the poly and the electricity was off. They helped to make it right but given the choice to avoid it all together I will take that option.

Yes we are staying at the lodge. I called today and was told they are only.doing refurbs to DVC units and the club level lounge which are in a separate bldg then we are in. I was told that nothing was going on in the area I would be in. Now if they were wrong when I get there then that will be a different story.
It's definitely in your building in the DVC and club level rooms on the 5th and 6th floors. We have a single night in a standard room before our DVC stay and got a letter for that stay as well. From experience, you very well may see/ hear some construction, especially in a 4th floor room.

I figured they were just feeding is crap when I called, you are correct that I would hear it above us. I'm really not to happy that they waited until 3 weeks before we leave to notify us. I defiantly would have picked a different resort. It is exactly why we didn't pick poly. I would have stayed there instead if I knew they were doing this. Anyone have any advice on expressing my concern. I do think they should offer a different resort.

I think as long as you insist on a lower floor at checkin you will be ok. The worst you might see is equipment/supplies in the elevator.

What is the current best way to make room requests with AKL? It's been over a year and a half since we've gone to WDW and last time, I faxed in a written request (to POR where we stayed) and it was pretty effective. Is that still the case? If so, what's AKL's address, fax, and other contact info? My requests are fairly simple: not ground floor, and we're a family of 4, so we'd like a room with either 2 queen beds, or the queen and bunk beds. I'm also assuming they won't put us in a room with the king and a sleeper sofa, but it would be nice to have the bunk. I'd also like to request an early check in as we'll most likely be arriving in the morning.

It's not DVC, if that makes a difference. Just an AKL Standard View Room. Should I fax those requests, or is that just something I should phone in and have them note it on my reservation?

POR and POFQ are the only resorts that read faxed room requests. The rest get tossed in the circular file. It is always best to call the main reservations line and have any room requests added to your reservation.

Ah ok, thank you for the info!

I know you could get 2 queen beds, but for the queen with bunks, good luck on that, we just ended up making our reservations with the queen w bunk room so we would be guaranteed that room. We didn't want to just hope they had extras. Best.of luck.

I just checked DVC availability for our dates and the only opening for all four nights is Saratoga Springs....we'll take our chances on the noise.

Yes, a friend checked DVC avail for us and it's Saratoga or Old Key West only:( for a standard studio villa. I would still like the person I rented points from to call on my behalf and see if anything can be done for us.

The only option I got was to chose from the available rooms left so I picked the one that was the same price as my AKL room, a garden view at GF. Bummed we had to give up CL. :(

So Mousemommy1, you had to choose from what was left for DVC villas and if it was an increase in points, you'd have to pay that increase? Am I understanding that correctly? Are you booked through DVC or direct through Disney? I'm on rented DVC points so my hands are tied....can't do a darn thing!

No DVC, just a regular room. Sorry for the confusion!

No, she is booked in a regular room I think. Not DVC. I think DVC folks are going to be stuck unless they can switch us to Kidani.

I checked DVC (through a friend) and Disney cash reservations on the Disney website for Kidani for my dates and both are sold out. I am assuming I'm stuck unless I move to Old Key West and I really have no desire to stay there. I had an option of booking Kidani with rented points and really wanted Jambo.....now I wish I had booked Kidani!

If you want the queen and bunk beds, reserve that room category.

We'll, we ar staying where we are. There really isn't anywhere to go 5 weeks out except the othlying resorts and our rental company us being difficult about it, so we will roll the dice. I fully intend to insist on being moved if we have issues. I know that sounds entitled, but after having a bad experience with Disney construction, I am willing to give them a chance but will definitely be more proactive than last time if there are issues.

We just changed the dates of our trip from March to Dec 17-26 (2016). My sister and her family decided they wanted to go and Dec was the only time they could do it. Even though my trip is further away, now we get to go at Christmas time and stay 2 days longer :santa:
