Just booked a few nights in December at the AKL. Standard view was what I could afford this time, but I plan on walking around the entire resort and taking it all in. I tried to book the night safari, but it was all booked up. Doing the Keys to the Kingdom and Wild Africa Trek while I'm there, so I think those will keep me busy. Can't wait to experience this place.

Unfortunately all of the nights I am staying at the AKL the night safari was all booked up. Just call 407-938-4755 and ask for the night safari. It's $70 a person and you have to pay up front. You go out at 10pm with night vision goggles. Looks fun, wish I could have booked it. There's always next time. Good luck.

We just switched from BC to AKL thanks to the recent discounts which saved us a lot. We are so excited as this will be our first time staying at AKL and we have always wanted to stay here. We will be there March 12-19.

We will also be celebrating my moms 60th birthday so I need to do something special for her. Any suggestions appreciated.

I love love love AKL. You will have a great time. Treat mom to Sanaa. I took my mom there in July and she said it was a wonderful experience. Jiko would also be a special dinner for her, especially if she likes unique wines (my mom doesn't care to drink so we did Sanaa instead of Jiko.

The night safari would be a unique experience, too.

May I ask what nights you were trying for that are booked up? I was thinking about trying to get this for December, but I am worried that I waited too long.

Sure. It was December 9th, 10th or 11th. I wanted to do it on the 9th, but they were booked up, so I just asked if they had any openings for the other two nights and they didn't. I may call back to see if somebody cancelled. Hope you have better luck than I did.

Hi! Another AKL convert here we were at the lodge October 9-11 in a standard view. I know someone a few pages back requested photos, so here are photos of the view from 2374. I requested this area on touring plans using their fax request system, I wanted Kudu trail facing sunset savanna. I would have liked to be a little closer to the lobby but honestly the walk wasn't bad and we were really close to the ice machine (we had some beverages out on our patio - two thumbs WAY up). I was elated that our room was clean and ready at 11:00 am or so when we arrived. We actually really liked having a view of this animal care area (barn?) in the right side of the view. The animals obviously wanted into the barn (we could see a baby zebra playing through the fence!) and would congregate near the fencing! We loved watching the giraffes go off exhibit one day. Very cool. And a total steal - I loved getting the "people pen view" standard room at the price of a moderate! We will absolutely be back.

What is the thought of the Night Safari? I am trying to decide if I should pair this with Jiko on our anniversary night (she has already demanded Jiko that night). We have done the Wanyama before (probably our all time favorite WDW experience) and we have used the night-vision goggles at the resort before, so I am just wondering if the Night Safari is going to be a different enough of an experience to be worth the cost.

Any opinions?
