Can anyone tell me the approximate price of a container of yogurt (regular or greek) at AKL in the gift shops? I can't find a photo online that is zoomed in enough to show prices! I don't think I'll have enough on my list to justify a grocery order but wanted to make sure.
Gosh, I want to say $2.50-2.95!

I am currently booked at Poly but DS has been begging me to stay at AKL again. We loved it so much. So most likely we will be staying at AKL again next year

probably a stupid question but can anyone tell me what 'KCS room only' means. i see this on my reservation and just can't figure it out.
i do know that as soon as someone tells me i'll think, oh yeah, now i remember…… but till then, if anyone knows please share.

my guess would be Kilimanjaro Club Savanna View. But I don't know for sure.

I've always wanted to stay at AKL, so I decided to book one night at Concierge for my daughter's third birthday. This is at the end of a longer WDW trip. When I booked it I remember there being a note about the Concierge room being savanna view, but in this thread it mentions it can be either savanna or pool view. So now I am confused. I would really prefer a savanna view since we planned to just stay the whole day at the resort.

Also we are going in January, do you think the pools will be useable then? Are the pools heated at all?

Which restaurant or two do you think would be best for a 3 year old? Sanaa and Jiko both look good to me, but if the service is slow or the atmosphere is very quiet it might not be the best place for my daughter.

Thanks for any tips!

Mine says KFS Room Only. According to some folks on another disboards forum (Google "Disney KCS room only" and it'll come up), it's just an internal Disney code that's not actually an abbreviation.

Only the DVC Club Level rooms (all of which are on 6th floor - and very limited in number!) are either Savanna or Pool View. If you booked Club Level at the resort (not through DVC) you WILL get a Savannah View - on the 4th floor, which is one floor above the lobby and 2 floors below the Club Lounge.

It really depends on the weather; the pool temp will be fine, but if it's cold outside, have a cover-up ready when you and your daughter emerge from the water! :cold:

I'd actually recommend Boma for dinner. There are so many options, you and your daughter will likely find lots to satisfy you! They have a "pod" dedicated to kids items; although your daughter can certainly try anything she'd like! To me, that's the most family-friendly of the 3 table service restaurants!

Thanks for your reply! Yes I booked through the resort, not DVC. I thought it would be difficult to find someone to book DVC for me for just one night, and that the DVC Concierge rooms would no longer be availab.e

Maybe we will switch to Boma for dinner. Do you think Sanaa would be ok for lunch, or is it a place that should be avoided with a young child?

It's Disney World! I can't think of any Disney restaurants (except maybe Victoria and Albert's) that I'd avoid with a young child. Mind you, I don't actually have any children, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I think Sanaa would be a good option at lunch versus dinner if you are interested in dining there because during the daylight you can often see animals just outside the windows. It might be entertaining as a special birthday treat for your daughter! I think the choice between Boma and Jiko depends on your daughter - for example, would you take her to a steakhouse at home or would she be bored during a meal that's geared toward adults? There were definitely children in Jiko when I ate there, but it's definitely a more tranquil and high-end environment than the controlled chaos just outside at Boma.

I would def try to do Sanaa during the daylight if you go that route and request a window table so that she may see the animals on the savanna. You can also have Sanna's dining do a special birthday cake I have seen some beautiful cakes on the cake chatter thread that they have done. There are always lots of children in Sanaa and they have a children's menu so not to worry about that.

The pool just depends on the weather at the time but there are so many kids activities she will have fun regardless.

We are coming to AKL to tour and have dinner at Boma on our AK day. I really want to stay here on the next trip and book a BB offer while we are at WDW next month.
Tell me how long should I expect to tour and where can I take them to 'sell' this resort.

My extended family is going to Disney World in 2016 and I am trying to find the best resort option. There are 10 of us. I have noted the 2-bedroom AKL villas only sleep 9. Could we fit a double air mattress there somewhere? Thanks!

ETA: I did some research and it appears that the tour is now open to ALL people staying at AKL! :)

Does anyone know if the Wanyama Safari & dinner is only available to guests staying concierge level? Some friends have booked a standard, savanna view room, but I know they'd love to do this tour. Just wondered if they were eligible or not. Thanks!

Thanks! Yeah I avoid taking her to fancier restaurants because she has a short attention span, and can be a picky eater. I went and booked Boma for dinner and Sanaa for lunch the next day. Hopefully the animals at Sanaa will keep her entertained :)

Hi all! What's the status of AKL guests using the Kidani Village pool? Is this permitted?

hanks for the tip about the cakes. I am going to go look into that. I never knew you could order a cake at a restaurant like that.

I just had an Incredibles cake made for my DH's bday, that cake was made through the Contemporary but delivered at Whispering Canyon. I know that at Sanaa you deal with their Chef directly and if you decide to do the cake in room you can do that as well. You can even have special cakes delivered to restaurants at MK, someone just posted a pic of a beautiful Elsa cake they had delivered to Be Our Guest it glowed inside so pretty.
