There are DVC studios in both Jambo and Kidani. When the reservation is made it is for one or the other. So you choose in advance because they are two separate inventories

Cool. I didn't know that some standard views could see animals. We just switched to standard to poolview. And can you request a room with bunk beds? What should I request to get a standard view that you can see the animals? Do all rooms have a balcony?

There are DVC studios on the fifth floor of Jambo House. There are also some club level DVC studios on the 6th floor of Jambo House, but they are very difficult to get.

This is a bit of an odd question. We stayed at AKL in July of 2014 and 2013. Both times we were bothered by small biting flies at the pool that I didn't notice anywhere else. Last year I had to cover myself with towels when sitting by the pool to keep them off. Has anyone else noticed this? I am wondering if this is a Florida/July thing, or if it something that is worse at AKL due to the proximity of animals and birds to the pool? I love everything about AKL except for this one issue.
NO!

How much is valet parking at AK Kidani Villas these days?

does valet parking still allow you to pay once and get a tag or receipt and allows free parking (same day) at other deluxe resorts?

anyone know if this also works for Disney Springs (Downtown Disney) or the Theme Parks?

Please remove me from the roll call for 11/10 -11/17. With CBR opening up during our week, the savings were to much to pass up. I will miss the upgrade though.

I did my online check-in yesterday (Kidani 1 bdrm savannah view), and requested Sunset Savannah and upper floor. Then I read on the boards that someone in a higher floor couldn't see the animals well because of the trees in the way! Did I mess up? Should I call and get it changed? I tried editing online, but it won't let me uncheck upper floor.

The Sunset Savannah in Kidani is huge. They might have had a blocked sight line, but I wouldn't expect that from most rooms.

For some reason I can't embed, but check out this link from Flickr.

Loving all the info on this thread! I just found this thread and immediately read 25 pages! Staying at AKL Jambo House Sep 19-26, this year. Never been to AKL, even just to visit or eat, and am so excited after doing some research about this hotel. The resort sounds incredibly beautiful and unique, and I'm also very excited to try all the restaurants there which seem to get great reviews!

Hey quick question... at about 3 minutes into this overview video of AKL, there's this little water feature. I can't really tell from the vid, but I'm just wondering if this is like a little waterfall or stream of something. I love Disney's water features.

(I'll be there September 3!)
....it makes its way down to Boma....

....I've stayed at AKL several times now, and I have NEVER experienced anything like you have....the animals are not anywhere near the pool area (except the flamingos in the flamingo pond)...of course, we've stayed there in August, in April, in February, and in October/November.....truly perplexing...:confused3

We just got home from our honeymoon at AKL Kidani last Saturday, and had a fantastic time. :) We had booked a DVC studio - Standard View for our stay. We got room 7815 on the 4th floor, and had a beautiful view of mostly trees to birdwatch from. In case anyone actually tries room requests, we really enjoyed this one!

I am staying in a Jambo House Value Studio with rented DVC points for two night in July. I can check in today. Two of my choices are Kudu Trail View or Arusha Savannah View. Can anyone tell me what those views would be like and which would be better to see the animals from our balcony if it is even possible from a value studio?

Interesting choices for a value villa as all the value villas are on Ostrich and Giraffe trails which do not overlook Arusha Savanna. They overlook a sliver of Sunset Savanna (facing the Kudu trail rooms,) the pool or the parking lot.

I'll be checking into AKL Standard Club Level room in two days. I'll be posting pictures in my trip report of the room if anyone is interested, as well as details of our trip!

Anyone have any last minute nuggets I should know about? Any recent travels have some tip/concerns I should be aware of?
!! Keep us posted. I am checking in in a few weeks, club level AKL. Would love pics and thoughts.
