I feel better knowing someone else was confused! I felt like I was missing something obvious haha
Me to its almost like its operated at two septerate resorts but looks to be the same last time we stayed there we had a one night stay and where transferring from another resort so we ended up going to a park then to animal kingdom lodge after i think we got on the wrong bus because we were dropped off at the DVc area and were told when we checked in we were at the wrong building and we were staying in the Jambo house at the time i did not know one was a dvc resort anyways that one night was impressive we did not want to leave

We are booked for a pool view room this summer. I have read on some sites that pool view rooms may not actually have a pool view. We only requested this as DM does not want to be too far from bus/food/lobby. Is there any specific request or floor that are better than other rooms in this category?

Arrive Saturday. Love our room/view (rented DVC points for Savannah view). We are on Zebra trail.

Buses have been great so far (been to Epcot and MK). Only once (returning from Epcot) did we share a bus with Kidani Village. Even got surprise anytime fastpasses from the bus driver this morning.

Ok i have a question me and my wife are going to be staying at the animal kingdom lodge standard pool view room will i have a balcony its say all rooms have balconys but then say ground floor rooms dont i am a little confused

Ground floor rooms have a small cement porch, same size as the balconies with same furniture. They are surrounded densely with foliage/plants, so no one can walk up to your porch; neither can you go from your porch directly to the pool. Basically, they're identical to the balconies, but they're on the ground.

Ok thanks

Officially decided to change back to AKL and keep it there for my pre-cruise night - 8/18/2017! I've got a standard room - and as long as I don't get stuck with bunk beds (it's just me) I will love it wherever!

We just booked six nights at the AKL from March 18 to March 24 in a Savannah View room. Used a 30% off pin code from the mail and got a decent deal (I think). I'm mainly jumping in just to follow this thread and get any tips. We stayed at a Standard Room this past January and were able to get a view of a savannah. We decided to splurge this time. My main goal is to get a great view and be closer to the lobby and the Mara. It was a hike last time.

Reporting back from Jambo House:

I requested a room using the Touring Plans fax service. Got something close to the request.

Standard room 2210 has views of animals.

There were some running water noises at times, but nothing we couldn't sleep through.

Great room. Close to lobby.

Hi
I hit my 180 day tomorrow and am very behind in my usual trip planning. I know I still have plenty of time to study & plan and everything will work out in the end!
So I'm back on the boards and wanted to check-in that my fiancé will be staying at AKV-CL 5/28-6/3/2017 as husband and wife :love2:. We get married 5/26/17 and start our honeymoon at the Most Magical Place on Earth followed by a Caribbean cruise!
I was last at WDW forever ago 6/2012 and last at AKV-CL 10/2011 CRAZY!!! My fiancé has never been to WDW, however, we did enjoy a DL trip this past May. He said "Now that I've seen DL, I have to see WDW!" Wish granted!
Can't wait to catch up with everyone and Disney news!

We're going to be arriving on Saturday. Our flight arrival time at MCO is 11:39 am. When I did on-line check-in, I checked off that we'd be arriving before the resort check-in time and that having a room ready was a higher priority than any other requests. Does anyone know if it's likely that we'll be able to get into a room when we arrive or is it more likely that we'll have to wait? Thanks!

Got home from our week at Kidani on Saturday night. Overall we really enjoyed Kidani and the staff. We received room ready text at 9:00 AM just getting on ME which was a great way to start. We had a standard view on the fifth floor which put us above the majority of any noise from buses. Enjoyed Sanaa quite a bit and will definitely try it again some day. I did come to appreciate how reliant you are on the buses at AKL and how the travel time can impact your decisions on how to spend the day. We usually stay at YC/BC and have a little more flexibility with walking boats, etc. The only issue we had with bus transportation was on the second day in the morning going to MK the buses were a bit delayed which made us a little late for ADR. Otherwise we made really good time getting to and from the parks.

Overall a great experience and will certainly be back for a more resort based stay in the future.

Julia, this has happened to me and a few others I have talked to:

Arrived early and was given a choice of two or three rooms. If the location was good, we took the room. If we didn't like the location, we waited for another room.

We arrive Saturday afternoon for the week. So if you see a toddler (girl) running around and a three-month crying infant, it might my daughter's family and my DH and me.

Hope you have a magical vacation.

Thanks for the info, Kathy. We usually take a later flight but, for some reason, though an earlier one was a good idea this time...guess we want to see the sun rise over Logan. *LOL* I hope you and your family have a magical vacation as well.

We just booked Savanna View rooms for five nights at the end of January to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday!! Have stayed at most of the other resorts and really excited to stay at AKL.

You will love it. The Savanna View was the highlight of our last trip. What a great way to spend a 60th birthday.
