Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

We stayed at the All Star Sports last week - 10/22 - 10/24 - it was a pleasant stay. Our room was comfortable and clean. We were in the basketball section, which was quiet but not a far walk to the main building.

We were impressed with the bus service - we didn't wait more than 10 minutes for a bus any day. And its nice to be the first stop!

The food court was not impressive - the workers were very pleasant but there was long lines (due to all star music refurb) and i wish there was more options of food. Had some drinks at the pool bar and the bartenders were always very nice and good options there.

The gentleman that checked us in should not be at the front desk - he literally had no personality and seemed to hate his job. Not the best way to be greeted to Disney. But all the other front desk people were nice!

One day we stayed at the pool and the constant noise from the pool parties got annoying. We just wanted to relax so we headed to the baseball section pool, which was much more quiet and nice.

I was surprised at some of the people staying there - i know its a value resort but it's still Disney property. So many people would push in food lines, leave all their food all over the tables and not clean up after themselves, let their kids run rampant all over the place, and change their older children at the pool in front of everyone. Wish some people just realized that this is everyone's vacation, not just their own.

I was at Sports October 21-27, and I agree with you on pretty much everything. The pool parties are loud and annoying, I wish they would do them for a few hours a day, and let people enjoy the pool without all of the commotion the rest of the time. Loud music, and the constant yelling of the CMs is not relaxing.

I was very pleased with the bus service. And disappointed in the food court. I knew the lines would be long, but didn't expect them to be so long that they were outside of their queue ropes. I only got breakfast once, and then stuck to stuff I could grab out of the cases and take back to my room.

Any word on when the rehab at AS Music is supposed to be complete? What are my chances for my upcoming February trip. Am I going to be mobbed in the food court by all the Music coverts?

The All-Star Music Melody Hall food court renovation is scheduled to be complete by December 20, 2014. This is the same schedule as last year's Sports food court renovation and they were exactly on time.

Thanks and good to know:thumbsup2

Last minute scrambling around town to try and get everything done! Tomorrow night we will be at All Star Sports So many months of planning I didn't think I would be this stressed the day before.

Good Morning Everyone. Just bumping up our thread so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle:thumbsup2

Called Disney on Halloween and added a day onto my February trip. Coming in Wednesday 2/11 and leaving to go back home Sunday 2/15. Airfare is so expensive right now. So I have been thinking of the possibility of renting a scooter to get around with. I looked up a few Orlando websites and they are reasonably priced. Not sure if I can handle all the walking with the way my knees are right now. But don't know if I want the hassle of using a scooter and can just take more breaks and rest my knees if possible.

Any thoughts?

Good Morning. One day closer to my trip, down in the double digits now.

Can anyone tell I am excited:lmao:

We are here right now and have had two days in the park. I'm young and healthy and by the end of the day my legs ache. The scooters don't seem like too much of a hassle I say if it'll make you feel better get one :). I suppose you could always park it somewhere and walk for a while and then come back to it if it's annoying you.

Does anyone know if they have ice cream or is it now just Gelato? My kids love the ice cream sundaes at POP. This would be bad if we couldn't enjoy our ice cream time.

at the food court, just gelato, no ice cream.

i took a pass on that for my october stay as i prefer ice cream.
tried gelato last january at sports and it just wasn't my thing.

lustergirl, if you are not sure if you want to get the scooter booked now, call the rental places and find out if you can rent later at the last minute.

if you do the parks one day and find it wipes you out, do the rental for the next day.
call while you are in the parks on day 1 to set up a scooter delivery the next morning or later that night when you will be back at the resort.

We have a Standard Room booked for Dec 19th-24th. I read the first few pages of this thread from '07, and it was recommended to request Building 10 parking lot view to be closer to the food court and busses for no extra cost. Is that still possible? Also, when do I make this request? Can I call now, or wait until check-in?

Thanks:)

I will be there from12/17-12/24. We requested hoops building though because we love BBall. I think the resort is small enough that no matter where you are the location will be great.

Call now and have it noted on your reservation. When you check in see if your request has been met. If it hasn't, ask if it can be. But keep in mind it may not be possible. If being up front is very important to you, then the best thing to do is to pay for a preferred room.
