Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

been awhile aince we stayed here,but we're coming back to DW soon and have narrowed down to either Pop or ASmo. We loved both when we've stayed,just trying to figure out which one would be best for us this go around.
Has ASmo been refurbed recently? Plus not sure if can happen again,but last go around we pais for a standard room,but they put us in the Toy Story Building? Granted it was facing the parking lot on the far back, not sure if that makes the difference,but I thought those buildings were considered perferred?? Anyway, building I guess doesn't really matter to me, just was curious...
DD is 12 now and DS is 8, we love POP, but with Toy Story 3 out, just thinking maybe I should go here instead..any thoughts??

We have the same though, trying to get the Toy Story section. Thing though, is that it would be a request, no guarantee that you will get it (even though they will try to get you what you prefer). So, if you paid for preferred (which ALL the Toy Story section is...you must have been upgraded for free...which rarely happens). Therefore you could be places in the Fantasia buildings (near the main pool) or the 101 Dalmation section. All very nice as they are all preferred meaning they are closer to the main Hall.
We did Toy Story (all of our requests were met) Trip #1. Our kids were 3 and 4 and were in heaven. We opened our door, we were right in the middle area with all the characters, staring at Woody.
Last year we decided to go standard room and requested Herbie love bug ground floor, again, requests were granted. We loved the section, but the amount of times we fill our refillable cups are too many. The walk is too much especially with strollers and sleepy kids.
This year we are requesting a room as close to Main Hall as possible on ground floor. We love ground floor. So, again, paying preferred could get Toy Story, 101 Dalmations, or Fantasia.
Never stayed at Pop. We are in love with ASmo as it is so extremely Disney oriented, and our kids are 4 and 5... they adore all the characters at the resort.
As far as I am aware, no refurbs have been done. Always the issue with ASmo as ASmu has been. However, we have never found any problems on either trip with the quality of our rooms.

I know split stay questions have been asked many times, but I can't figure out how it works from ASMo. We will not have a car to move our things, so we can't do that. I guess we could get a taxi, but we don't want to check in until my sister arrives later in the day. She'd be upset if we checked in to the GF without her. My question is will they move the luggage for us from Movies to the GF? We would have to take our luggage down to luggage services and then they would move it, right?

I think it depends on what you want to be surrounded by. My family and I prefer ASMo because to us it just "feels" like Disney! We love Fantasia and Toy Story and the icons around that resort just make the whole experience even better to us! We've always requested prefered rooms and have been in the Fanatasi building with the Hat entrance both times. We did walk over to the Toy Story section and it seemed nice too. The only thing that really makes them 'prefered' is their location to the food court and buses. Other than that, the rooms etc are exactly the same. When you stayed there last time, you must've just been 'bumped up' to the next catagory. Some times they just do that - although we always request preferred, so it's never happened to us.

Where ever you decide to stay I'm sure you'll have just as much fun!!!! Enjoy!!

We were lucky and able to get in on the free dining I just had a quick question, one morning we have an ADR at Kona for 8:00am, MK opens at 8:00 as it is an EMH day. Does that mean that buses will start running at 7:00am? We are just trying to figure out how to make it to the Poly on time. Thanks!

Busses always start running at 7am for folks who have 8am ADRs at MK (CP & CRT) even on non EMH mornings.

they will move it for you, altho we went from movies to wl in april and got a huge speil from dude on the desk saying normally they dont(untrue) and that they might do me a favour if i cll and ask. morning of our checkout, we called luggag services/whatever it's called and a lady showed up in about 45 minutes with bright pink tags for our name and new resort. we left her our big lugage and took our carryons with us that had pertinent travel documents, meds etc. we then had to travel to a park to get a bus to the new resort and check in there. but in our case our kttw were linked to our second ressie not the first. so you may want to consider checking in via online check in for the gf so your room will be ready for you and you can dump anything you may want to lock up. or i belive you can also ask at the front desk at the gf to put valuables in thier lock up.

Hello All,

This will be our first visit to ASMO, we've stayed at the POP two years ago. We love the breakfast pizza they had there. It's the flat bread with some white gravy, (maybe Saw Mill gravy not sure) scrambled eggs, chopped bacon and chedder cheese. Does anyone know if ASMO has the same?

you're very welcome! enjoy your stays- the gf is my dream hotel and one day ill get there! lol online check in can be done 10 days before you leave online. its very easy to do too. so unless you're not checking into the gf until 11 days into you vacay you can do this part at home.

Oh that's right! I forgot I could check in 10 days out. I guess I was thinking of the airlines, and that's 24 hours. Silly me. Thanks again!

yes they do, but your suits will probably not be dry. For some reason they never actually dry. We bring a small fan to blow on the suits and damp clothing at night.
