Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

I hope it's good--I've never been to WDW before and I've been t old that the room will be used for sleeping and that the higher cost of Moderate Resorts aren't worth the cost.

We have always been pleased when we have stayed at ASMO's! We stay at the parks from morning until night so we really do only sleep in our room. It also depends on whether you have children or not. The larger than life character statues and theming are teriffic. The rooms are small, but our family of four can move around okay without bumping into each other too much! Hope this helps!

Hello! I have not had a chance to read the whole thread so I'm sure this is answered somewhere...BUT, are there any special instructions for shipping bottled water to ASMo? How far in advance should I place the order? Will they hold it for me if it arrives before I get there?

Thanks!

We will be staying at Movies in June. I understand that people decorate their windows. How do they usually decorate them, how elaborate are they. Thanks.

Thanks for the link on the window decorating. I've just spent all afternoon reading it and thinking of ideas. I had planned to mop the kitchen floor !! Now I need to start gathering things for our windows, We will be there from June 15-22. Hope to see you there, do you request a certain building? Not sure what to request, we do have preferred rooms. Oh well, still have plenty of time.

Oh my, it gets me so excited to hear that you are going (or anybody for that matter!) We have 8 months left, and I cant wait!!! :)

WE decorated the windows... Im trying to see if I have any pictures of it here...

Well, ok lets start with the room request. I requested Toy Story, we had preferred as well, and our kids fav movie at the time was Toy Story. I requested ground floor, and we LOVED it. We had 2 strollers, and new 4 yr old and an almost 3 yr old. This was PERFECT!!! WE had a corner room too! Stepping out of the room we saw Buzz himself!

Be aware that Disney has just recently started charging a cleaning fee for those who don;t clean up after decorating and some things are forbidden for the most part now.
No tape at all on anything, windows, doors or walls.
And no special crayons, markers, whatever to draw on the windows. People were leaving it on the windows for Mousekeeping to clean, so then they started chargin and I have heard when people have recently done this they were told they would be charged when a mousekeeper supervisor saw it.

Wow, I would have never thought of not cleaning up the window !! I'm always amazed of what some people will do. Spoils things for everyone.
My grandchildren will be 7 and 2. They both love Toy Story too. Maybe we will request that building. We're getting excited, only two and a half months.
Thanks for your help.

Please pardon the hi-jack.

I am running 2 FREE fridge/coffee pot swaps at the All Star Resorts (see links below) and we have many openings from June to December.

Back to your regular programming :goodvibes.

Hey there! I can't believe it! We stayed in the same room last summer! We arrived on Father's Day and left of the 28th! When did you guys stay there? We thought it was a great room and decorated the window and door as well! Your window decorations were great! I'm in the process of learning how to make my own window clings-we're going back this June too thanks to Disney's "Buy 4, Get 3 Free" deal! We can't wait!

LOL! Thats too funny! WEll, i did assume others did indeed use 'our' room, but nice to know someone finally who we share it with ;) lol!

We were there 2 weeks before Christmas. LOVED the room! The ONLY thing I wasn't crazy about...but again we were at DW so it never bothered me that bad....was the big lights at night, and the kids screaming playing on the big checker board and with bo peep at 6am. But we are used to Atlantic Time zone, so to us that was 7am :) I actually slept like a baby, which I NEVER do anywhere's else besides my bed at home. Especially hotel beds, but they were very comfortable I found.

We will have to start carving our names and dates like when we were at camp! lol ;)

The preferred building include sections of Toy Story, Fantasia, and 101 Dalmations.

Can anyone tell me exactly what buildings are considered preferred. I have reserved a standard room and would like to add a specific building request to my reservation.

I just wanted to add for the Standard rooms vs preferred... We chose pref to try and get Toy story which was our kids fav movie at the time :) Which we did indeed get. BUT, I wont be paying the extra money I dont think...unless we really wanted a certain movie themed area. From the main building...the pool is RIGHT outside the doors. If I look down the walkway I could see the Herbie Lovebug section. It wasn't far AT ALL. And this is coming from a mom of 2 preschoolers. I wouldnt have minded the walk at all. It wouldnt have been much of one. Now, for the Hockey D area, I can't speak much for that since we werent at all in that area.

I just really wanted to tell you, the walk is really nothing! Even after all the walking in the parks. I wouldnt mind the Herbie section now that the kids have seen the movie and love it. :)

Does anybody know why the link to the floor layout is now blocked out?
I had it saved and it now tells me the link is broken.
I went to the link and the link is now missing.:sad2::sick:

Just got back and we stayed in Toy Story building #10. Ground floor, corner room, facing the back so it was usually quiet and not much traffic.
We thought the rooms were fine. Clean and simple. We moved the small table and put an air mattress in the corner. Put the fridge under the table and even had a double stroller in the room. We knew it would be tight but it worked out just fine! :thumbsup2

One thing is that we pushed one bed against the wall since my youngest is an active sleeper. If we left the bad by the wall, Mousekeeping would not even touch it. When we pushed it back, they did make it. When we asked mousekeeping about it, she said it is not her job to move furniture. So, just FYI.

One day the soaps were on the counter by the sink, one day in the shower and two times they were just laying on the bed. :rotfl:

No towel animals or anything, but we weren't expecting them anyway. One day the kids' stuffed animals were tucked into bed, otherwise, nothing other than simple cleaning.

There was a corner outside our room that had metal trim sticking out, I mentioned to a CM and they said OK- but 3 days later it was still sticking out.
And there was an abandoned, broken stroller sitting outside our room when we arrived, we left it for 2 days, then moved it to housekeeping with a note, it appeared in fornt of our room again the next day. So we pushed it up by the elevators and told a CM. It was still there when we left.

OK- that sounds like I am complaining, but it was actually a fun resort and the pool is awesome. Laundry room was big enough that I never had to wait for a washer, and I ended up doing laundry twice!:confused3 :laundy: :confused3

The CM's in the Dining hall were helpful. We had the DP and they would tell me if I was short a side or dessert...

The outside area was always clean and my kids loved playing in Andy's Room!

We met many nice people at our resort too!!:yay:

tinkermom23 - did you bring along your own laundry supplies or do they have some there that you can purchase? I really don't want to have to pack laundry detergent and dryer sheets!!

Thanks!!

Thanks!!

I brought my own laundry soap becasue I had good coupons for the All 3x and I could get the travel size at Target that did 2 loads.
The only soap there is Tide, which is fine by me, but it's $1.25 for a single load box. I think the softener was also $1.25 but I can't remember the brand. The washer was $2 and the dryer was $2.

The laundry room was always clean and alot of fun chatting especially in the mornings! It was right by the pool, so while I was waiting, I went out to sit in the sun.:thumbsup2

HTH ! :laundy:

Thanks, tinkermom23!! I just know that I won't be able to get away with not having to wash any of the boys' jeans when we go next January. Now I know how to plan for it!! :flower3:
