Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

I'm here at the moment, and they've given me a king bed room in fantasia. It's technically a HA room so huge bathroom!

Few things I've noticed so far:
My room has a working fridge. They're working on replacing every fridge on property due to a possible defect, and last time I checked this thread a few days ago it was showing that most rooms still didn't have a fridge. Don't know if they've replaced them in last few days or whether me having what's technically a handicapped accessible room has anything to do with that? (ie might be more likely to need it for medical reasons?) either way I'm happy to have the fridge
The new rapid fill RFID refillable mugs are in full swing here but people seem very confused by them. You have to put the cup centrally on the little black tray to get it to work and its causing queues because people don't get how to work them. I mean it's not rocket science but people can't get them to work right away so they're assuming they're broken and walking away drink less
Love bugs are here but not too bad, seen a few around but it's not a massive infestation

Can anyone tell me if the mattresses at ASMo are really firm like at Pop's? I couldn't sleep last time we stayed there which is weird because we've never had a problem with the mattresses at any other Disney resort. :confused3
Thanks so much for your help :flower3:

Just back today and had a great time. We were in the Mighty Ducks building and did not have a working fridge. The one in the room was plugged in but the note was on the fridge door so I unplugged it. I was told at check in that none of the fridges were replaced and that was on 9/20. I had no trouble with the mugs. I mostly got coffee or ice tea so didn't use the soda dispensers that much. There is no reader on the coffee or tea machines. I did see people with old mugs at ASMo and ASMu that weren't able to use their previous mugs. We ate at Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary and at Capn Cooks in the Poly and they are also using the RFID mugs.

We also returned today after spending 10 amazing days.
We didn't have a fridge...we had two !!! :rotfl2:

We had the usual white one and a black one, both were plugged but we noticed that the black one wasn't working right so we unplugged it and just used the white one even though it had the note.
If there was any real big danger they would just remove all the fridges...

We were also on the Mighty Ducks area and Internet was working GREAT, best connection I had at a hotel.

We are here now! None of the requests I made during online check-in were granted, however we were given a free upgrade from standard to a preferred room in the Toy Story section, so no complaints here! There is not a fridge in our room. It doesn't matter to us but I wanted to mention it because I know others were interested. The food court has not been overly busy at all in the 3 days we've been here. It has been very pleasant. Buses have been great except yesterday we tried to leave MK at around 2 and a bus never came. After watching two ASMu buses come and go we decided to hop on the next Music bus and walk to Movies from there. Overall it has been a great stay so far!

We were there 2 weeks ago and neither of our 2 room request were granted. I wish that they would take that section off online check in if they are not going to pay attention to it.

We were in a room in Mighty Ducks with a king bed and working fridge.

The room was kept very clean.

I have read lately that the online requests are not going through, so it's always better to call. That being said, those aren't going through well lately either. I think part of the issue is that they keep updating the system for the ne My Disney Experience and it is messing up other things.

We just returned and all of my requests were granted. We booked bounceback last year and had the requests put on our reservation at that time. I did not do on line check in because of my requests. I also booked bounceback this year even though there was no info anywhere about it even at the front desk. Thanks to the Dis I was able to call 8844 on my in room phone and book for next year. Had them enter my request for a room at this time.

Just got back from our week long trip. We stayed in room 3962 in the Mighty Ducks section. We had a working fridge, but it was a king-sized bed/handicapped accessible room so I don't know if that had something to do with it. Everything was great. Our room requests were filled, king-sized bed and a quiet room. Internet was sloooow, however. No real complaints here. :thumbsup2

Currently at ASMO, checked in on Thursday and we got magic bands!! Didn't know we were going to be testing them out and so far so good.

Currently at ASMO (Toy Story). No fridge, but I found out (after ordering 3 styrofoam coolers from wegoshop) that they are providing coolers if requested. They also gave us a $50 credit per room when we inquired. So, it doesn't hurt to ask.

I was reading the huge AS Music Family Suite thread (started back in 2006 LOL) and it mentioned that the beds at the AS's can be moved a bit and are not bolted down like at POP. Is this still true? Thanks!

Does anyone know what the pool hours currently are?

Also, what time does the Food Court close?

Thanks :)

The pool hours (per the posting) closed at 11 pm. I never noticed the times for the food courts, but they seemed to be open pretty late. I'm sure the exact hours can be found somewhere on Dis.

Yes, we were able to scoot one of the beds toward the wall at ASMO.

We were there 9/25-10/1. We had an awesome time. I did online check-in and they honored all my requests. We had booked a standard room and were given a room in the Toy Story Section (Room 9671). I couldn't have asked for a better room. The one concern I had since it was just me and a 4-year old was how far away from the front we would be. At most it was a 3 minute walk (and I am a slow walker). We were so close to the pool but far enough away to not have to deal with the noise. We had a working fridge in our room. We would definitely go back!
