Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

We are staying in a standard room, we are driving, and have a toddler so we will be using a stroller every day. We also plan to eat breakfast in the food court most days. Just wondering if there is a building or section we should ask for when we check in? Not doing online check-in because our My Disney Experience page is incorrect, and I really don't want to link it to our reservation.

As Goofy22 said above, the two sections with standard rooms are Love Bug and Mighty Ducks.

I recommend Mighty Ducks as you are also really close to the food court and buses for All-Star Music. Then you can choose which resort's services you want to use. I used the ASMu buses in the mornings as they were closer to my room. So you really get more than just Movies with that location.

On the MDE page and your reservation, on my last trip in July my info was never right on there either. But as long as it's correct with the Walt Disney Travel Company (I called to check) that's what is important. The MDE app/site is still not doing well with getting the reservation info matched right.

We will be at All-Star Movies in 3 weeks. My MIL just called and was told our rooms would have refrigerators. Being the skeptic that I am, can anyone confirm this?? Wondering if we need to buy a styrofoam cooler.

Thanks!

You should keep being a skeptic. I think anyone you can call now is unlikely to have accurate info about the fridge situation, and there's been no general report that fridge work is done at any All-Star resort. There has been news within the last week that fridge replacement work is complete at other resorts such as Art of Animation and Wilderness Lodge, but no mention of ASMo yet.

I'd be glad to be wrong! :goodvibes But I think anyone at the Walt Disney Travel Company call center should be saying there's a fridge issue going on and that can't say right now what to expect.

Yeah, that was my thought too. I guess it's no biggie if we end up spending a couple bucks for a styrofoam cooler. That just means more room for our stuff. :thumbsup2

If you look back you will see that people have been reporting that they have working refrigerators in their rooms. I will be there shortly and will confirm when I get back.

We are just back from AsMo. We did not have a working fridge.
CM said they are trying to buy up all they can find at Home Depot and other stores just to have enough for medical needs.

We were in the Herbie section, 2nd. floor, facing the courtyard with the winner's circle.
I was at first disappointed when the CM told me the location,
but as she had made sure our three rooms were together, two of them connecting, and that we would not have to move after our Room Only when our pkg started, I didn't feel like complaining.
That said, I was REALLY pleased with our location. We were close to where we parked our van, we were very close to the Fantasia pool and kiddie pool, which we used several times, and it really wasn't far from the main bldg/ bus stop.
In the end, I was happy to be in that location.

RFID chip Mugs are in full force. We had one of our 10 cups coded wrong, but the rest worked right.

Kids loved the movies by the pool.

Happy to answer any questions anyone might have!

Did you ask for a credit for the fridge?

I did ask about it, and the CM at the front desk said "It varies...they are giving a credit sometimes, not others, depends on the situation, and you have to go through a manager."
It wasn't worth it to me to deal with it, especially after having issues with our room keys.
[IF you find yourself in a position to have a room only ressie followed by a package, and you are staying in the same room, remind them to tell the computer that you are the SAME guest staying in the room so you can use your room keys right away...otherwise you will be locked out till 3 pm. :rolleyes2 ]

As of this week we have a fridge but they told us we could not plug it in. Not sure why but I didn't want to plug it in and risk it. We ended up buying a styrofoam cooler. TOYSTORY rooms.

We are currently at All-Star Movies. We have two connecting rooms on the first floor of the Mighty Duck section facing the pool (fantastic, very quiet and convenient location) and each room has a working fridge.

This is one of the fridges they deemed defective. In the interim they aren't removing them from the rooms, just telling you not to use it.

During my July visit I had a fridge that was plugged in and with no letter warning me not to use it. It may have not been classified as a defective fridge, but it also didn't work at all.

The ones deemed defective are due to a risk of fire. I think mine was just busted. And they were in no position to provide a replacement because the bad fridge problem was just starting that week.

Good evening

Any one at All Star Movies now? We are arriving on Thursday and wanted to see how the crowds are, how is the weather and any update on the fridge situation?

We arrived today!!! It is warm/hot. low 90's with the usual afternoon rain. No working fridge in our room, Buzz in the Toy Story section. We haven't really been around too much yet to experience crowds but so far so good.

Just returned from an 8 night stay at All Star Movies and we had a great time! We did online checkin (requested 101 Dalmatians/1st Floor) - we got Fantasia, 2nd Floor. Our room (#8838) was ready when we checked in around 1:00 pm. It was a very quiet area. We did not have a working refrigerator and they did give us the $15/night credit.

Bus service was great the whole week. We really never waited more than about 10 minutes for a bus. There were a few times that it was standing room only, and quite a few times, we were the only ones on the bus.

Food court was pretty good. We didn't really eat there except for one lunch and breakfast on our check out day, and it was fine. My DD & family were staying in Mighty Ducks, and the food court was our "meeting place". There was never a problem finding a table to sit at while waiting.

We used Magical Express from the airport and it was fine. We were at the hotel within about 1 hour or so from landing. Our room was ready, so we went to wait for A Baby's Best Friend to deliver the crib/stroller. Within the hour, we had our crib and stroller, AND Magical Express was delivering our luggage!

Our room was clean and the area was quiet. The only drawback for ME was our room didn't get cleaned until after 3:00 pm every day. It wasn't that big of a deal, and a few days, we just asked for clean towels.

My only disappointment was that stupid AC thing. We woke up several times during the night trying to get the stupid thing to kick back on. My DH & I decided that although we do like the value resorts, we just don't want to deal with that stupid AC thing any more. We'll be staying either at the mods or deluxes.

If you have any questions about the resort, please let me know!

Just a quick update as we just stayed at All-Star Movies (room 2953). 9/15-9/21/2013

Fridge: There was a refrigerator, but it was unplugged with a note. We planned ahead and brought a cooler, which was not so fun refilling ice and draining it each day, but not altogether horrible either.

Food-Court: The food court was not too bad. Long lines sometimes, but not the worst we've ever seen. We did have a few VERY slow workers behind the counter (I watched for ten minutes while a server moved my "hot" sandwich around, picking it up, putting it down, wandering off to do something else - so that by the time they "finished" assembling it (putting lettuce on it), it was cold.)

Mugs: The refillable mugs worked great the first 3 days, but after that some of the soda dispensers were not reading the mugs at all - forcing us to choose to get a different beverage rather than complain and have our food get cold while we tried to resolve the issue. (not to mention the "looks" people gave when the dispenser loudly repeated to place my mug on the tray - like I was STEALING soda!) Every single day from days 4-7 at least one of our mugs didn't want to work. So, we would put hot chocolate in whatever mug wasn't scanning right. The funny thing was, it was a different mug each time - so it wasn't that the mug "broke" completely due to heat of the beverage or whatever. Just strange - they definitely have some bugs to work out.

The Room: Our room was lovely and clean and spotless every time we returned to it. They are just as pretty as I remember from our 1999 trip.

The Resort: BEAUTIFUL! The kids loved posing for pictures at all the different buildings. Again, just as pretty as our first trip.

Overall we loved staying here. We will probably not stay here again due to our family size (we just made the cutoff for our family size since youngest DS was still 1 at check-in day). But I still highly recommend it! :)
