Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Under Transportation it says; "You catch the bus at the bus stops in front of Cinema hall. Simply look for the sign with your destination on it and get in line. Warning: There are no shade covers or queue ropes at the All Stars."

But in a lot of photos being posted I'm seeing a line queue using chains, even on the WaltDisneyWorld.com website I'm seeing this. Which one is right?

Both are right. You get in line in the chain queue for the bus stop you want.
If you want MK, you get in that line. All the values are like that.

When I was there in March there were chain ropes to keep the lines somewhat organized. Nothing special and of course my kids wanted to hang on them -- that is why I remember them lol

how crowdedare the shuttles? im assuming as cheap as this resort is, its very crowded? anyone have a good example of trying to get to and from MK in the morning and when it closes, also fridges are in all rooms now? or you have to rent them? thanks

the buses can be insanely crowded at all resorts including deluxe. The fill them up to standing room only and go. it depends on the time of day. Early morning and closing time is the worst.
Fridges should be in all the rooms now.
Not sure what kind of example you are looking for?

i guess you answered it, i was just debating on our next trip to stay onsite cause the TTC ferry ride is madness in the evening, CR wouldbe great but it really dont seem to have the kids feel, but my knee would love that short walk lol

We have never really paid attention to how long it takes to get to each park. How long will it take us to get to DHS? We just want to be at the park alittle before 7:30am.
Thanks!

My family and I just got back from a stay at ASMo and I really enjoyed it! I will have to say though, that I still prefer Pop Century. I guess because it was my first, it is my favorite. I really enjoyed the vibe there better.

We found that we only had to share busses with the other 2 resorts twice. Both were during the early afternoon when we decided to take a break. We had to stand about half the time (mainly coming back to the resort) I think we timed going to the parks just right each time. The longest we waited on a bus was about 20 minutes (again, during an off-time)

We had a pretty good location (Fantasia, building 8, second floor, facing pool area) It was far enough away from the pool so that it wasn't loud, but the walk to the food court wasn't bad.

I liked that the bus stops at the parks were closer to the entrance than the ones for Pop Century though! That's a long walk at the end of the day when you're tired!!

I preferred the food court of Pop Century better, my main complaint was the breakfast. The breakfast potatoes were not cooked enough for my liking, but we enjoyed the one dinner that we ate there. I was really impressed with the lifeguards at the Fantasia pool. I sat and watched them for a while. They were almost constantly counting the kids in the pool and I even saw one lifeguard jump in the pool after a little boy. I don't really know what happened to him, but she lifted him out of the pool and another boy and girl that were with him got out and stood with him until they found the parents. I really enjoyed watching some of the activities they did at the pools also.

The rooms were clean and I really enjoyed the refrigerator. It was nice having the free wi-fi but it was SO SLOW most of the time and kept kicking me off! I got up early each morning to upload pictures though.

Does anyone have pics of the food/drinks available at the ASMo GIFT SHOP?

Specifically I'm curious about bottled water, any diet drinks withOUT caffeine, and what libations they might sell. I'm wondering if you can buy a small bottle of rum for dh & I to enjoy rum & caffeine free cokes after the kiddlies are inbed. :goodvibes

We will be taking DME so stopping at a grocery store isn't an option for us. TIA

Anyone know off hand what the choices are at the soda fountain? And is it the same at All Stars Music? What I'm really looking for is Powerade and Coke Zero...oh and hot chocolate!

Hi! The only thing I'm sure of is hot chocolate. We only got Coke and Sprite. But I did see hot chocolate. Lol!:goodvibes

Deleted- I responded to a very old post.. which is irrelevant to this thread.

Just booked! Got a standard room and requested Mighty Ducks. I get there the Sat after Thanksgiving. Do you think I have a good chance of getting my request?

Oh I'm sure. We were in that section this past year on your same arrival weekend. We didn't request to be there, that was the only section available for FD rooms. Have fun!:goodvibes

Do they still show the same loop of classic Mickey cartoons on the in-room tvs? My kids love this channel, and I wanted to know if it's still the same cartoons they've been showing for the last 5+ years. Thanks in advance!:)

does anybody know how i can find out what if anything is going on at asm in January 2013 I want to avoid as much as possible.

Specifically when?

On the Wide World of Sports website they list:

January 10-13th: Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna. Imagine a weekend of runs where every mile is filled with Disney fun at the 2013 Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna on January 10-13, 2013. Join us for a weekend of races that are magical as they are memorable, from Disney's Health & Fitness Expo to running through all four Theme Parks in the Marathon. Complete with medals of Mickey Mouse and his friends, you'd be, well, goofy to miss it!

January 18-20th: The UCA/UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships return to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Qualifying teams from across the country will compete in this prestigious event. The weekend competition will include cheer and dance teams from Division I, Division II, Division IA and Junior College levels. The cheer competition includes mascots, partner stunt, coed partner stunt, small coed, all girl cheer teams. The dance competition includes, jazz, hip hop and pom categories.

Jan 25-27: The Sand Dollar/Whitlow Invitational is a first-class women's and men's competitive gymnastics competition which is held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex annually.

I have no idea if any of these groups will specifically be using the resort, but I can tell you that The Sand Dollar Invitational last year...those girls were...terrible and not at all supervised in the parks. It felt like I was in a living version of the book Lord of the Flies. I was at Pop Century and didn't see them, the assumption was they were at All Star Sports.

Oh, and Google is your friend. :)

Here is a picture taken at the All Star Movies Food Court a couple of weeks ago. Sorry it isn't the clearest photo.
