Thinking of going to DisneyQuest this year. Have never been there before. My daughter is 9. What is there to do? I s it somethig we should do? What are the hours? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

We use to go to DQ every Friday night. We have stopped doing that, but I was at DQ last Thursday. THE best hamburger on property can be found on the 5th floor. If you daughter likes video games, she will probably love DQ. We go so often that I get tired of the place after about an hour. My husband and son could spend all day there. Usually the place opens somewhere around noon, give or take an hour. Once you go through the turnstile you enter an interactive elevator that takes you to the 3rd floor. The highlights of the 3rd floor are Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam (where you stand on a platform resembling a pogostick and you represent one of the balls) and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin (a bumper car where one person drives and the other loads giant nerf balls into a cannon to shoot at other cars). There are also arcade type games on this floor. Basically there are 5 floors of arcade games and virtual games. You can pick up a map to DQ at guest services or on the 3rd floor of DQ.

I wouldn't put it very high on my priority list. It's just a Disneyfied arcade. If your an arcade junky, by all means go. But I wouldn't go out of my way. Don't get me wrong, it's fun and cool, and if you have time (and money) to burn it's great.

Does your daughter like video games? Disneyquest is my 9 year old son's FAVORITE thing at WDW. It's like being inside of his biggest fantasy. My 7 year old daughter hates it.

The video games have height requirements, but an average size 9 year old should be able to do everything. They are also very "boy" geared - pirates, space, comic book heroes, and a very intense roller coaster simulator. It's a perfect antidote to all the princess stuff. If you have a kid that is into all the video game stuff - they'll be in heaven. If not, we really enjoy the water parks as an alternative to the main parks.

My DD12 and DH love it. My DD19 and I are just okay with it. IMO the best game ther is the Pirates of the Carr. It is vertual reality and it really feels like you are on a ship. You shoot cannons at other ships collecting gold. You have 6 or 8 cannons to shoot and someone has to steer the ship. It is a blast. There are VR raft rides, rollercoaster, pinball machine and others.

My favorite thing @ DQ is the Cheese Cake Factory...Yum.Yum!!

I think everyone need to go at least once to decide for themself.

My DS loved it  , but we had to drag him away from the roller coaster simulator to try a few other things. We skipped Pirates because the line was really long. The other virtual reality thing we tried didn't thrill me. We also tried a "raft ride" which was OK, but not great. My DS & DH hit the bumper cars, and DS played a few games, but we always found our way back to the roller coaster simulator. I found this totally cool as well :goodvibes , and since the lines there weren't outrageous, we created 5 and rode 6 times (one we did twice). He wants to go there next time, and will probably want to create coasters and ride all day long if we let him! So we will probably do it since I haven't found another place that has this attraction, and he really loved it. Nice to know they have good burgers upstairs...we'll need to take a break to eat popcorn:: !

We love it too. We had passed on DisneyQuest every trip until this year, and we ended up going twice this time. Pirates of the Caribbean, the raft ride, and the magic carpet virtual reality "ride" were the best! I also enjoyed the arcade games from my teenage years!

DQ is one of those "either you love it or you hate it" places. ;)

My DH and DD love it. They like to play video games and get into it immensely.

I can't stand video games, and even if I could, the layout of the place drives me crazy. I'd like to meet the architect - it's a really boneheaded set up IMHO. ;)

But I go - but only for the cheesecake. Which is so good, it's worth the trip. :thumbsup2

My family LOVES DQ! We love video games and like the fact there are several games you can play as a family! The virtual POTC is our fave along with the Jungle Cruise Raft, some kind of alien game everyone can climb into together, and lots more. We normally go up to Foodquest or Wonderland Cafe and have a snack..Oh and you can email friends and family from the Wonderfland Cafe too

It is set up badly :p . They should just let you walk in and take it floor by floor, but instead put you in a weird elevator and put you on the third floor :confused3 . We may have missed alot; when we go back, we'll give ourselves some more time (we got there around 6:30) to get our money's worth. The part I liked best was this CM we kept meeting as we wandered about - it became a running joke between us and her for that evening.

We are planning our first DQ visit at the end of August. Any tips on which day of the week (avoid Fri. & Sat.?)

I think my boys will LOVE this!

We've never tried it but I know my sons will love it and we're planning to visit at least once while we're there. I'm assuming it gets particularly busy on rainy days (with tourists) but does it also get busy with locals in the late afternoon/evenings? Just some tips really on best times of day to visit. Thanks :thumbsup2

DH (30) and I (25) are avid video gamers (yes, we're those people that have no kids, but do have a dog and treat her like a human :rotfl: ) and were pretty disappointed with DQ. However, there were a lot of 12-15 y/o boys that seemed to be having the time of their lives. If your DD is shy, it might not be the best place because it's quite loud, and you really do have to be a bit aggressive to make sure you get to do what you want. The best part for us was getting to look like fools and playing Dance Dance Revolution! The animation area is also VERY awesome. Instead of pencil and paper like they have at the MGM classes, you use computer screens and light pens. We learned to draw Jiminy Cricket during our visit. However, the rollercoaster simulator made us both sick to our stomachs...guess that's what we get for getting old!

My DS is not a big roller coaster fan, and he started slow and easy - he was going faster and putting some curves and dips on his last one, and I convinced him to add a corkscrew :goodvibes . He loved it. He plans to make the next ones fast and crazy. Who knows - if he discovers he loves it on a sim, maybe I can get him on the real thing!
As for hours, we went on a Sunday evening, after we did AK. This was during the school year, and except for the Pirates ride, wasn't that crowded. I've heard recommendations to go when they open in the morning, during the week, on a nice day outside. Rain and Fri evenings/Sat/Sun afternoons is supposedly when it is crowded, but with all the people that come during the summer...we went during a quite time of year, and it seemed reflective of the parks: not very crowded. So I would think end of August, when the crowds thin, it would probably be OK on any other day than a weekend. When we do it again, I would go early, well-rested, let him do his thing and then spend the rest of the day shopping at DTD or something...if we can pull him away from the roller coaster  !
