I'm hosting a honeymoon shower for DH's cousin and his lovely bride-to-be. The party will be in October with the wedding and honeymoon next March. I'd love any feedback I can get on the ideas I have or suggestions for things I haven't thought of.

The colors will be red, black, and white with some silver "pixie dust" and a damask pattern here and there to give it kind of a romantic feel. The backdrop for the focus of the party will be our fireplace/mantle. I've mad a poster of disney couples names with the bride and groom in the center that will be hanging on the wall. I also got some postcards that I framed and a picture of the happy couple dressed as Mickey and Minnie to put on the mantle. I'm making a banner with their names and "happily ever after".

For food I have some Mickey shaped pasta but I don't know what I want to do with it yet. Maybe "mickey-roni and cheese"? Beyond that I don't know. It kind of needs to be single serving or finger foods sine we won't have room for a sit-down dinner. We're anticipating 25-30 people.

I got the bride and groom ears for them on our last trip but I need to remove the embroidery because I had their wedding date put on them which has been changed.

I also got a photo album and some cards so that the party guests can sign the autograph book instead of a traditional guest book.

Thanks for any feedback or suggestions!

I saw someone made light up wreaths in Mickey head shape. Maybe as a decoration for your door? I saw someone else did tree ornaments that could be used as favors.

You could put together a scrapbook or smash book for bride & groom for their memories.

Food- I use to be able to buy Mickey shaped frozen pizza. If they don't still sell, maybe there is a way to make? I am not a chef, nor do I play one on tv! LOL!
While this isn't truly "Mickey", my DSis (who has lots more food talent & patience than I!) made really cute mice shaped chocolate covered cherries this past Christmas. (She claims they were easy!)

This sounds like a lot of fun!

Thanks so much! I had completely forgotten about the cherry mice! Although a little time consuming, they are very easy so those would be darling! The groom's mom loves to do cookies so I think she is going to try to do some in the shape of mickey with the couples' initials on them. I could probably use some mickey cookie cutters for flatbread to make our own pizzas (or something along those lines) I'm also playing with the idea of just getting a nugget tray from chick-fil-a and artfully arranging the food and sauces to look like a mickey head (but that is my backup option!)

I am going to make mickey ears for everyone so the ears and cookies will probably be our favors. I also played with the idea of making luggage tags as favors but that may be a bit too much.

Does anyone know where you can get crystal floral pins (or even better, crystal mickeys) that I could tuck into some roses?

There are some crystal like adhesive mickey heads clear, red and black in one package in the scrapbooking section at your local JoAnns, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, ACMoore (possibly any craft store)... I put one of the clear ones every year in my DD's corsage for Prom.. which reminds me, I need to put one in DS16's prom boutineer this year...

I am using those crystal stickers on the invitations! How did you use them with the flowers? Do you put it actually in the flower or just on a ribbon/leaf? Did you put it on a pin (and if so what kind of pin and where did you find it?) I love the idea of using some of my leftovers that way but I'm not sure how to do it!

Instead of fretting over the food being in the shape or theme of Mickey why not make the serving pieces? you could use plain white dishes (found in thrift stores dollar stores etc...) and stamp black and red Mickey heads on them? All you need is Enamel paints, they MUST be enamel or it will wash off, and the black rubber back of a trading pin as the stamp. Paint a little paint on it, stamp on the dish, let dry 24 hours and bake 30 min in a 350 oven. The instructions are right on the paint bottles and the paints are easily found in any craft shop for about $2 a bottle. using all white, red and black dishes would look great! You could also do the same type of thing with fabric paint on a solid colored tablecloth. Maybe do a white cloth with red polka dots? Cut a mouse pad into a circle, hot glue a cork on the back for a handle and stamp away! Make your own Mickey head stamps out of the mouse pads in different sizes. make some squares this way, lay them then over the boxes underneath for different heights if you want. As for the shiny Mickey heads for the flowers could you use one of those hair scrunchies that are made with the plastic beads shaped like Mickey heads. you could spray paint them silver or whatever. hope you have fun!

I've never seen the kind of hair things with mickey beads that you are talking about but I will keep an eye out. I think I may have found some floral pins on Etsy but I'll have to wait and see if they are still available closer to time.

I don't have any trading pins with Mickey shaped backs so I can't use that, but I will keep an eye out for a stamp or something I can use on some dishes. Thanks for the idea! If nothing else, I have a mickey head paper punch that I can use to make a paper or vinyl stencils and I could use those to paint or even etch glass serving pieces.

So far I've got damask water bottle labels and I can add red vinyl (I'm hoping to get some red glittery vinyl) mickey heads to them. I've got a red tablecloth with a damask runner for it. I've got some damask balloons and may be able to get some red dot ones also. I've got black dot baking cups and black and red striped straws. I'm also going to get silver forks and wrap them with a red napkin and damask ribbon. I've also got lots of rhinestone "buckles" that I can use with ribbon on vases and candle holders.

The stencil idea never even occurred to me until now, so that may be my perfect option for adding a little extra "magic" to the food, too.

PM me with your address and I'd be glad to mail you the rubber back and one of those scrunchies. I have had 3 of them for years thinking I would do something with it but never have...Imlove the dotted balloons! That will look great! is the Mickey Head paper punch small enough to make confetti to sprinkle around the table?

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!

My paper punch is about 1 inch diameter so it's a little bit big for "traditional confetti" but I'll probably put some of the mickeys around on the tables anyway! They're a good size to add to the top of toothpicks and I've already started working on making some of those. I'll probably use some of them as envelope seals as well.

At some point I'll probably go back to party city and see what I can find, but I'm trying to come up with more unique, personalized items.
