Disneylands corn dogs...how good!?

It's all about the batter being used. The dog itself is ordinary. The mustard addition puts it over the top for me.

They also serve the exact same corn dog at the Stage Door Cafe in Frontierland and the line will be much shorter

I had one last week from the Little Red Wagon. In my opinion, there was lots of breading and way too much grease. I wanted to like it, but just couldn't.

Personally, I think the CornDog Castle and Little Red Wagon taste the same. My DH likes the hotlinks one so we get them at the Castle more than at the wagon. I don't recall ever having one that tasted better anywhere else.

They are my husband's favorite thing... next to the Long Island Ice teas at Cathay Circle. I have never had a corn dog I liked, so I don't even remember if I've ever had a bite of one at DL. Maybe I'll beg a nibble from the hubby next time to see if it will convert me.

How good? SO good.
Have to have one every trip. I do the same as someone mentioned above. I wrap it in a few napkins and squeeze as much oil out as possible. It's still awesome, just not as greasy.

Will they displace many people's favorite corn dog elsewhere? Probably not.

But they are a great corn dog, dipped and deep-fried fresh (not a frozen dog reheated in an oven like many restaurants sell). They are a relative bargain for theme park food; good size; don't take long to get; don't take long to eat; and can be eaten on the go. I do agree they were better when all-beef, but they are our go-to for lunch on every trip instead of wasting forever to get a sit-down lunch for three times as much $.

If you find them overdone at the Red Cart, the Stage Door Canteen ones are cooked a little less, but I prefer the crunchy outer crust of the Red Cart. As noted, Corn Dog Castle not only sell the corn dogs, but also spicy corn hot links.

On the same topic. Does anyone know what kind of meat they're made from? Some people in my party don't eat pork. I think WDW uses chicken for their corn dog nuggets. I don't remember seeing full size corn dogs at WDW.

Aren't most hot dogs made from pink slime that they scope up off of the floor?

We get them at the stage door cafe and they come with fries there! We can buy two for our family of four! Love them!!

I've had them on two separate occasions and I didn't really like them. The cheddar cheese stick at DCA though is one of my favorite Disney foods.

In general I don't care for corndogs but the corndogs at DL really are great. I bypass the Little Red Wagon and go over to the Stage Door Cafe and get a corndog with fries and take a seat at one of the outdoor tables or go in and sit down in the AC at the Golden Nugget.

This thread got me wondering so I found the email address for dining allergies and figured these are the people who might know. This was the response I received:

Good afternoon Liz,
The ingredient label on the Hot Dogs does not list Pork. They are made from Beef and Chicken.
Chef Bill

Hopefully that helps anyone else wondering the same thing.

When we finally tried them, we found they weren't nearly as good as they look. Very little corn flavor (or seasoned hot dog for that matter) and extremely greasy. After one bite I felt like I had it all over me. I wondered if I could just wring it out.
My DW and I took a couple of bites and agree'd this is not something we want to put in our bodies so we tossed them in the trash and went to The Plaza Inn.
JMHO

The Disney page for the corn dog castle says beef and chicken. Which seems like an odd mix, right? I've never looked at ground beef and thought I should mix in chicken, or vice versa.

Thanks Indiana Scott, I could not have said it better.

I'm not usually a fan of corn dogs, either (in fact, I basically avoid processed meats...or meat at all, for that matter...most of the time). So, my guess is that I was either to the point of I'm-so-hungry-even-a-shoe-would-taste-good....or....DL puts crack in their corn dogs. Because I seriously am looking forward to having one the next time we go.
