DS is part of a larger group that will be participating in a YES Animation class and a Physics class at DCA in a couple of weeks. My coworker has been making all the arrangements and she was told by the YES program CMs last week that both classes would include the Tower of Terror. This makes sense to me for the Physics class but not for the Animation class. Does anyone know anything about these programs in detail? Did your kids enjoy the experience? This will be a first for us and we're really not sure what to expect. Thanks.

I would like to know too! My boys are scheduled for 2 of the classes at the end of June - Energy of Waves and Properties of Motion.
Tower of Terror is a no-go for my 12 yr old!

There is a lot of info on the WDW side for the YES program but not much here.

Bumping! My kids are also registered for the Y.E.S. individual enrollment program at the end of July. I really would like to hear any info. also! Almost all the YES Budget Board info. is about WDW. We are registred for Engergy and Waves and Disney Animation Magic.

Anyone?

For those who don't know anything about this, you get discount tickets that include an educational class for certain age groups on certain dates. If there is a class on a date you will be there, the tickets are discounted for your entire stay. I was skeptical, but we got out tickets in the mail today and saved about $300.

Check out the thread on Budget Board for more info. (but most of the people there are getting it for WDW, but there are classes at DL also).

They have fairly complete descriptions online.

Here is what it says about the Animation

And here is Physics

Physics they'll ride Grizzly, TOT and Screamin'

Animation they draw at the Animation Academy, explore the Sorcerer's Workshop, Turtle Talk with Crush, and ride Monsters and TOT.

Great program....if your kid has a chance to go, it's well worth it!

Heck, I would like to see adult versions of these classes, that sounds like fun!

Edit: I see that there is a 15 student minimum, I would think they could just do some set dates and allow adults to sign up, maybe modify the classes accordingly (perhaps a slightly higher charge).

Well, I have always tagged along with my two students....just pay the student fee. We are homeschoolers and started out the YES program on their special homeschool editions, but have since taken many of the "regular" YES program classes both DL and WDW and never had them object to a parent tagging along, so long as we paid the fees.

Not sure if that would work if you didn't have a student in the class of course, but if you have a kid, well, go for it. Also, the 15 student minimum is if you have a group that you want to arrange specfic dates/classes for....YES also has individual classes with set dates that you can sign up for (of course if Disney doesn't get a minimum individuals signed up they can cancel it, but so far that hasn't happened).

We've taken a couple of classes more than once over the years....as my students mature their understanding of the material of course increases....plus they're just really wonderful fun and inexpensive! We'll be doing some classes again during our September class.

DS went with Mouse13's group. He had a blast. At the animation session I know they did a storyboard and drew a character, went to animation academy and turtle talk with crush. They ended with tot.

For physics, I don't remember if they did tot again or not, but they also did grr, silly symphony swings, monsters inc and screamn. The instructor talk about the physics of the rides. He learned about how the rides work and how the effects were created.

Since these were a private group, only one adult was allowed to accompany them. We met up after the program was over for animation academy and caught up to them a bit early at screamn for the end of the physic program.
