We're looking into taking LO to Disneyland for his first birthday. I haven't been to Disney in about 5 years. I used to go multiple times a year to both DL and WDW, with my sister and her kids. But I've never been with my own LO or without her expertise.*

Right now I'm trying to decide if we should go. I LOVE Disney, but DH has never been and doesn't quite understand my excitement or why I'm eager to take him so young. His family is saying it's pointless to take him because he won't remember it. I disagree because DH and I will have memories and pictures to share with him. Also, we are only a few hours away, so it definitely won't be our last trip there.*

Please share any advice or experiences with taking a baby that age. LO is pretty high needs and fussy, but he's 5 months right now and I don't know what he'll be like then. We are looking at going end of Sept/beginning of Oct for maybe a day or two. Any tips for going during that time, good hotels in the area (I'm a lot more familiar with WDW hotels, as that's where we went the most), packing tips, how to get good deals, rides/attractions not to miss, etc. Anything! We are probably taking MIL and BIL along with us, so we will have extra hands. Thanks!

We took DS when he was 15 months. We also have. 9yo DS. He loved it! We had never been to DL but had been to WDW many times. He was very content in the stroller and was able to get out and wander around when it wasn't too busy. He loved the sights and sounds and went on a good number of rides/attractions. The biggest issue we encountered was the time change of 2 hours for us. The early mornings were great though because we were regularly near the front of the line at the gates!

Lovely! My nephew's 1st DLR visit was right before his first birthday, we were with him :)
DLR, is compact, so easy to go from place to place, no buses.
I very much prefer it over WDW for LOs.
The weather is fantastic pretty much year round.
I'd go in mid Sept or mid-late Oct *best check for fall breaks, I know ours is 10/16 & 17, a lot of UT heads to DLR, we're heading to Mickey's house on the opposite coast in mid Oct!
I suggest checking out the DLR board here - http://disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=26
