We are taking the kids for a surprise Disneyland trip in December. We can't remember about the policy for riding on attractions. We have kids ages 8, 7 ,5, 3, and 1. Will we have problems being able to ride together on attractions?

If you are all riding, you should mostly be fine. There may a couple of things that you won’t be able to get an adult with every kid, and in that case it might get sticky. Dumbo is one I’m not sure how they handle that, you can’t fit 4 people in a car so 2 kids would have to ride alone, I’m not sure if they consider that to be riding alone or not.

The official rule is that everyone 7 and under has to be with someone 14 or older. I’m assuming you are talking about anything the 2 toddlers can ride. Bigger rides you’ll be able to have an adult sit with the 5 and the 7 and 8 sit behind or in front of you.

On dark rides, I’d have an adult go in one car with 3 kids and another go in the next car with 2 more. Stuff like Alice, Snow White, etc. Since the 1yo will likely lap sit everything you should be fine. I went alone with my 2 older kids all the time when I only had 2 and I can’t remember anything we couldn’t go on that we wanted to.

I would call Disney and ask. You might have issue where you can only fit 2-3 people in a vehicle. I helped a mom out on Lugis. She had 4 kids and they wouldn't let another child ride with the oldest kid. Since I was riding solo I said the little boy maybe 5 years old could ride with me.

I was recently asking about taking my 3 kids solo, but chose not to.

I think you should be okay since your 7 and 8 year old can ride together. That is a big deal and should help you a lot. You should be okay with one adult and a 5 year old and another adult with the 3 and 1 year old. The only ride this is annoying on is Toy Story because there are only 2 guns, but your one year old is too young to play anyway. The ride I was curious about for my kids was Gadgets. Your 3 and 5 y/o should both be tall enough to ride but you may have to do some rider swapping on that one because they will probably require that both ride with an adult and not allow one to ride with the 8 y/o. That was my question as all 3 of mine are tall enough to ride Gadgets, but I have two under 7.

Your 7.8 year old will be able to ride together so there wont be any rides that you all cant go on !

The 7 year old has to be with someone 14 or older. It is 8 and up to ride alone. Been there ;-)

I have been there multiple times and my 7 year old could always ride alone... did this change some time in the last few months?

My middle child was never able to ride with my oldest until she was eight. It made life a lot easier as that was the year I had another child, and it was a big deal, she was very excited to go on her eighth birthday just to ride something with her sister

When you say ride together, are we talking another vehicle behind you, or totally alone? Possibly the distinction there ;-) the official rule is for riding alone and some rides where you can’t stay together or close by.

going to use dumbo as an example.
myself and son one row, hubby and daughter infront of us

my 9,7 year old in a different elephant !

But like I mentioned, I’m not sure that is considered alone. You were on the ride. We never tried that on Dumbo as my girls aren’t usually willing to wait in line for it lol. So you are still supervising them, basically. You could not have sent them off to ride BTMRR alone.

gotcha !! no longer confused I was thinking separate vehicle not ALONE ALone .

sorry if I seemed rude I was just confused. thanks for the clarification :)

I just read on the Disneyland website as well that clearly states UNDER 7 needs someone 14 or older..

You are correct. We have just finished our fifth day over the last week and a half. They've asked MULTIPLE times how old our daughter is. She is 7. She has been able to ride every one by herself (I ride with the 5 year old so she usually has to ride by herself).
