Have had a slight change in plans and hopefully DD and I will be taking our first trip to Disneyland in December

I know a lot of people stay at HoJo's but what other 'reasonably priced' options are there?

Where have you stayed, where would you not stay and where do you keep going back to?

We have stayed at Hojos and really liked it. This year we are going to try Residence Inn Maingate ( the rooms have full kitchens, plus breakfast is provided). However if the entertainemt rate coems up for our dates at Hojos we will be tempted to go back there.

We have stayed at a few easy walking distance Harbour Blvd hotels over the years (we never want to be reliant on shuttles there), and the Fairfield Inn is probably the best option. The rate is typically reasonable (about US$100 plus tax per night) for which you get two queen beds and mini-fridge, the rooms are pretty quiet and you can get a good park view. Also the walk back and forth to the crossing for the parks is pretty short.
Whilst breakfast is not included the quality of those that have them is pretty dire and you have great places to eat nearby like Maccas (in the car park), Dennys etc. that are pretty cheap anyway.
Of course you could stay 'on-site' for which I highly recommend renting points for the Grand Californian DVC villas.

I've stayed at Candy Cane, Residence Inn Maingate and another hotel that is no longer there. Candy Cane was nice; but my preference is RI because the hot buffet breakfast (and cook your own waffles) is included.

I stay at the Parkvue Inn. I think it's great. Awesome location, nice rooms and reasonably priced.

Plus free breakfast and internet.

We stayed at Ramada Maingate , we loved it , good rooms , comfy beds , friendly helpful staff , great pool area ( currently being renovated ) free breaky - basic but free - and the location can't be beat !

I've stayed at the Sheraton - the old one that looks like a castle. great price through qantas - huge rooms etc although you want a refurbished room. I don't really recommend - you have to catch a shuttle, the in house food is very poor.
My 2nd trip was at GCH - fabulous but cost double the Candy Cane Inn - which looks very good.

I am a little late! We had usually stayed at the HoJo's, but their price was getting crazy so we tried the Candy Cane Inn on our recent trip and really enjoyed it. They are about the same distance as HoJo's, but they also offer a shuttle and a breakfast in the morning (fresh fruit, bagels, cereal and coffee). Everyone was really friendly too :goodvibes

My 2 cents worth.....have stayed at Best Western Stovalls Inn twice. Walking distance to Paradise Pier hotel (about 300 yards), then over the road to Grand Californian through which you enter Downtown Disney.
Or there is an ART shuttle stop right outside the hotel. Comes complete with a restaurant on site and a free continental breakfast in the morning.
Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.....but then again you're there to see Disneyland so it really is a place to sleep, shower and you know what!!

Best Western Anaheim Inn and Hojos are my favourite. Definately will stay at either again.

Been to Disneyland a few times each time with different budgets:

Trip 1: Hojo's: It's good but I must admit my wife and I were just a little disappointed given the rave TA reviews. I was aware it was a motel but the staff were a little rude to us, our A/C was broken and they couldn't move us. However the mini-market they have is wonderful. Since 2006 they have raised there prices, you cannot go wrong with Hojo's really but there are better bargains around now but it is a good place especially for families.

Trip 2: Paradise Pier: Now we are talking, very very expensive but you still have that Disney park feeling with you 24/7. Also Did a night in there in concierge club. Amazing! Expensive! :) Worth it? Oh yeah!

Trip 3: Super 8 Katella: From one extreme to the other Managed to get this for 40 bucks a night including breakfast. Basic room, Distance is good walking a bit longer than Hojos but not much.

Please note I recommended my friends go to Fairfield Inn as that is another good all rounder however they had $300 stolen from there room by housekeeping, apparently. It was there fault for not carrying the money with them instead of putting it in the bottom of the suitcase. Anyway they turned around and blamed ME for recommending the hotel. This I hope is only a isolated case.

Everyone has a different philosophy to Disney motels, some people pay more money for the accommodation for comfort, others say "It's just a roof over our head and we will spend the money in the park". My personal opinion which people may not agree with is go either one way or another. Stay at Travelodge or Super 8 for 45 US a night and live it up in the park, or be surrounded by Disney Magic (the Disney Hotels) and be on a budget.
If you really want to go inbetween I would recommend probably:
1) Ramada Inn maingate, had family that stayed there, loved it. And you can get good discounts on their official site
2) Hojo's (Make sure you put in Promo Codes from other websites for discounts)
3) Best Westerns that surround the park, especially park place inn. Probably 2nd closest accommodation next to Grand Californian Hotel.
Candy Cane inn is apparently fantastic but quite expensive, I have seen Disneyland Hotel with AP discount only 30 bucks more expensive per night in off season!

Hope this helps. :)

I have visited twice and both times had brilliant times at HoJo's. Can't be beat for price or location.
It was perfect both times imo.

Have just stayed at Hojo's and loved it- was in building 4 and could watch the fireworks from just outside my door. The staff were very friendly and it was handy having the little store there so I could buy milk, cereal etc. Also the coffee maker on the room was brilliant! Am heading back in a few days to stay at Ramada Maingate- have heard lots of good things about that one too.
