Does anyone have information about what Disneyland attractions are unique or different from Disneyworld attractions? We are going soon to Disneyland and would like to target the atttractions that are different from WDW.

Thanks for any information you can offer!

POTC is much better at DL. Also, be sure that you see the Enchanted Tiki Room. It's the original, must better than the "New Management" I also prefer Splash Mountain at DL.

The Disneyland Railroad takes you thru the Grand Canyon Diorama and Primeval World. That's one difference that I think is forgotten about often.

Actually each ride that is on both coasts is slightly different. No 2 rides are identical. So I'll just list which park I think the ride is better at.

Better at DL
Pirates
Small World
Railroad - because of the Grand Canyon diorama
Fantasmic - ok not a ride, but still way better show here
Space Mountain
Indiana Jones - (as opposed to Dinosaur at AK)

Different but no preference over which is better
Haunted Mansion
Thunder Mountain
Tiki Room - only because I haven't seen the 'Under New Management'
Winnie the Pooh
Soarin - haven't been to the new one at Epcot yet

Better at WDW
Splash
Tower of Terror

Can't think of the others right now

DL also has Storybook Land Canal Boats and Casey Jr Train in Fantasyland.
Oh yeah, the Matterhorn too.
Plus Walt's apartment! :rolleyes:

Also there is Alice in Wonderland at DL which I don't believe is at DW. I personally think the two best things at DL though that AREN'T at DW are Matterhorn and Indiana Jones.

Enjoy!!

Have to disagree with Splash. ONLY because Splash at MK is in desperate need of a rehab. If Splash MK is all cleaned and fixed, then it's #1 in my book.

To me one of the things I find superior at Disneyland are the live shows. While I love the shows at WDW (esp. Little Mermaid and Beauty and Beast) I think Aladdin and Snow White are the best. They seem way longer and tell most of the story. I just remember at Beauty and the Beast my 8 year old kept saying "where's Belle's dad"? For some reason this bothered her and she thought Voyage of the Little Mermaid was way too condensed! Also, I prefer just the whole Fantasyland area in Disneyland over the MK version. I missed the quaint feel at WDW. Also, we love the Casey Jr. Circus Train, Storybookland Canal Boats and the Alice in Wonderland rides and miss those at WDW. Mickey's Philharmagic makes up for it all however!

At DCA, we think Grizzly River Run better than Kali and love California Screamin. RNRC is awesome but it always gives me a headache. Screamin is incredibly smooth and longer with some big drops (and no headaches for me).

Have a great trip and be sure and let us know how it all went!

WDW Pooh is so much better: DL doesn't really have a flow or story to it, its just a bunch of scenes!
HISTA fits better in EPCOT- the "Lab open house" makes no sense in the middle of Tommorrowland.
Small World is better in DL with the Troughs rather than wall to wall water, but it is LONNNGER, so if WDW drives you nuts, in DL you'll actually start bleeding from eyeballs 2/3 the way through! But the exterior at WDW is not even in the same league as DL! (I love the clock!)
Jungle Cruise I'm gonna have to side with WDW for the temple ruins.
POTC again, there's no comparison! DL wins hands down.

Interesting. You honestly find the trench better than the flooded sets at WDW?

I think Tower Of Terror is much better at WDW as well as small world. I love Indania. Jones ride at Disneyland.

Autopia is better at DL.
We are getting the Subs back ( albeit with a Nemo theme) at DL.
After a 2 year refurbishment Space Mountain is again open at DL, and according to some it is better and darker than ever!
The Sailing Ship Columbia is only at DL.
Even though you may have to stake out a spot a few hours in advance, Fantasmic at DL is not to be missed!
Can you tell I have a slight bias? :) I loved our trips to WDW but DL is Home.

I think most of the attractions that originated at Disneyland first get the edge over WDW.
Especially;
Pirates
Small World
Splash Mountain
Soarin' Over California (Because you're in California and at Disneyland)
Mark Twain & Columbia (Better views)
Fantasyland dark rides
Fantasmic!

Close Calls (but Disneyland still wins)
Haunted Mansion
Jungle Cruise
The Disneyland Railroad (Grand Canyon & Primeval World)

Edge to WDW;
Big Thunder Mtn. Railroad

WDW attractions that Disneyland did better;
Space Mountain
Buzz Lightyear

Other notes;
I like DL's Pooh ride because of it's location
The fireworks at DL are better than Wishes at the MK

Overall, I think park vs. park, Disneyland is much better than the MK. I love WDW, but Disneyland is The Original, and while WDW has the Magic Kingdom, it doesn't have the title of "Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom" or "The Happiest Place on Earth". Both titles are true and well deserved.

Just curious as to why you think Splash at WDW is better?? What are the differences?

I can't answer for Cookie55, but I feel that the WDW version tells a better story. The story seems to flow in a more organized manner.
