Hey everyone! So I'm trying to book a solo trip to Disneyland for Spring break (March 4th-14th) and had a few questions for my fellow DISers. First can people under 21 book hotels in Anaheim? Also if I stay off property what do I miss out on as in benefits with the parks?

Thanks!

You can book hotels at the age of 18.

I don't stay on property very often, but as far as I know, it gets you into Disneyland an hour early on certain days of the week (called Magic Mornings). And sometimes you can get package deals through Disney's site for the 3 on-property hotels.

But.

They are expensive. And I imagine they would be quite pricey during a busy time like that. Of the 3, the Disneyland Hotel is by far my favorite. The Grand Californian is the "fanciest," and I don't really care for the Paradise Pier.

If you can afford it, on-property is always the way to go. The GC is the closest, and it has its own entrance to DCA. The DLH has a monorail stop, although the line there can be so long it's usually faster to just walk through DtD to the main gates.

If you don't want to drop a few hundred a night, consider some of the hotels across the street on "the strip" as I like to call it. HoJo is nice, Candy Cane, Park Place Inn, etc. Many of them are decent quality at 1/3 to 1/4 the cost of on-property. Also, many of them are just as close (some are technically closer) to the main gates of DL/DCA.

Although it may not be that big of a big deal to you, you miss out on being able to take a late night trip down to the bar by the pool (Disneyland hotel) to get loaded nachos before going back up to your room to relax. One of my mom's favorite parts about the Disneyland hotel was the ability to do that because those nachos had everything and were really good. The people at the bar were really nice and funny too. Many locals hang out there so the drunk ones may just come up to you and start telling good stories. That's what this one lady did to us so it was a very entertaining late night snack run that I don't think you could get (at least not as quickly) from one of the hotels down the street.

Also, I was 17 at the time so walking up and ordering food at the bar won't be a problem if you're under 21. They won't care as long as you don't order alcohol.

I have been going to DL for 45 years now, I have never stayed in a disney hotel there. To me it is simply not worth the cost.

Thanks everyone for the information :) I ended up deciding to go to WDW in May instead of making the trip out to california which I'll probably do in the years to come.
